So, beware when applying. Something in my history from 6 years ago caused me to be denied even though it was a minor discrepancy on my credit report about to fall off. They kept the $150 admin fee, $25 pet screen fee, as well as the two $50 application fees. I asked for a refund of the admin and pet fees because they didn't do any paperwork or research on my pet. Just submitted some to a 3rd party credit pull from my initial application. Of course the scam they have going is, once you apply...any fees you give upfront are non-refundable. Pros: Maintenance is by far the best feature at Mission Hills. Property looks nice. Lazy river is cool, and the pool is nice when you can get there without a large group with guests blaring their music. Location is great; close to HEB, and now that loop construction is almost complete, it's super easy to get anywhere. There's community gas grills, but many need TLC due to wear and tear. Cons: You hear everything, and I mean everything your neighbors above and next to you do. You're billed for features whether you use them or not like trash concierge, social events (you are billed per contract renewal), and during Covid restrictions still charged full rent even though we couldn't use any facilities on site like the pool or gym for months. The office staff is often dismissive. Porch pirate problem even though it's a gated complex (gates have worked 20% the last 2 years). Just my honest take on my 2 years here. I would recommend for location, but not if you're wanting a peaceful, quiet community. read more

I've been at the complex since June, and even with the anticipated complications regarding the new construction, I have very much enjoyed living here. As with any rental situation, there will always be bumps in the road, but the staff has always been incredibly accommodating. Any issue I have had has been resolved with one trip to the office! When I moved in both pools were closed, well one was closed and the other was under construction. That was a bummer with a more expensive pool view apartment, but since the other pool has been opened back up it's been great. The pool is always clean and available, with plenty of seating in the shade! I was pretty in-depth with my research before I signed here, and I have not regretted my decision once. The community is great, the free Starbucks coffee is a life saver, and the new apartments look awesome. They also saved a lot of older trees when they expanded to Phase 2 and the additional landscaping looks very nice. The apartment complex goes out of their way to get residents involved with each other and the community (love that they support HSNBA), and it's been pleasant living here. read more

I was told several 2/2 apartments were coming available and I liked one so I applied. The guy who showed me the apartments was so personable and I was initially very impressed. Since he was on vacation early in the week, I heard nothing from the apartment complex until he returned. There was a mixup on their part regarding the unit for which I had applied, but they fixed it. However, it took them a full day to respond to my many emails and calls. After a full week, I've still heard nothing about the status of my application. I'm out $200 and if I'd read all the reviews about their deceitful practices, I would not have applied to this complex. I applied today to another complex and was approved in 2 hours!! Incredible that one apartment took 2 hours and the other has taken one full week and I've not yet heard anything. Not one email or phone call. Don't lease here!!! Added 11/5/2020 The complex called me and apologized for their poor communication. They were able to credit me for that application fee as I had to end up paying another complex to lease there instead. They are a beautiful complex just very busy. Likely need more than one person approving applications. Just pack your patience and bug them if they don't respond timely. read more

DO NOT LIVE HERE 1. VERY BAD FLOORING You will hear your neighbor upstairs talk, walk, stomp, run, jump, etc all kinds of sounds and noise all day long. It's exhausting, disturbing and annoying. They woke me up at 5:30 in the morning because their kids were running upstairs. I feel the vibration every time they run during the day or night. I can't rest in a place I pay more than $1000 a month. Management staff need to be trained to do their job. They have not done anything to resolve the problem. You will also hear people next door to you talk as the wall is very thin. You will also hear sounds from people walking/running on the stairs all day long. Just praying the lease ends soon so I can get out of this noisy place. I never had this issue before at other apartment complexes until I moved here. 2. Not Safe Community: PACKAGE THEFTS Packages left in front of residents' doors have been stolen. This is very unacceptable. If this is the type of people that live here, it is very sad as I never had this issue before in other places. I do not feel safe here. Aside from dealing with all the noise every day, whenever I have deliveries, I have to keep opening my door, checking constantly for my packages. It's not a pleasant place to live. A couple of months ago, they had an incident with police involved. Some people let their kids threw things to a person's car and damaged it. The people just ran away after that. No responsibilities, no setting good examples for kids, no education at all. It's sad knowing what kind of people that I have to live with and worrying about vehicle also. read more

I don't live here, but my husband and I toured these apartments while looking for a new place to live. We met with Mark Martinez, one of the representatives, who was very helpful. This is a great complex with beautiful pools (including a lazy river) and immaculate workout rooms. The model apartments were beautiful with many unexpected upgrades. I do wish more apartment complexes offered apartments with no carpeting, and this one is no different, but I loved everything else that I saw. read more

Hi, I sold a home and was on a very long waiting list at MH apartments. I found the staff to be ok, even personable. As the date of my move-in came, I asked if there was any bigger apt available. I understood when I asked that the bigger 1 bd was available at the same move in date. No one verbally told me anything different! I am a home owner & 63 years old, I am not use to all of the ends and outs of how it works. Wouldn't a leasing agent have for thought to let someone know after they had been waiting TWELVE WEEKS to let their client know it would be 12 MORE WEEKS for the OTHER apartment........ Since leaving my home I am staying with friends till my apartment was available. I really think if you think Mission Hills apt New Braunfels that would be a good place to live you better cover your self do not expect anyone to lead you by the hand! read more

Very unethical and deceitful company and especially new management.The apartment complex is beautiful, move in, enjoy, but never complain about anything. Be very careful when you move out. I moved out in September, after living there for almost 2 years. Was told I was good to go. A week ago I started getting suspicious calls from debt collectors. They appeared to be a scam until I called the apartment complex and they confirmed they had reported me to debt collectors and email me a summary of monies owed (most were from June). Never in my life did I not pay my bills on time, I'd rather not eat than not pay my bills. They had my phone number, email, forwarding address and never sent me anything or called about any money owed to them. How can one pay the bill without knowing it exists? If you ever complained about anything, please be very careful when you move out or the management will personally screw you over. Happy Thanksgiving to y'all too! My problems got solved. The assistant manager and ladies who work in a leasing department are wonderful. If you have any questions or issues go talk to them. The new manager Desiree is very unprofessional and has no skills working with people, but don't let one rotten apple ruin the rest of your experience here. Not given ample time to complete paperwork, like some of the other reviews, if you complain to any of the staff in the leasing office, they will make your life miserable, not friendly when you are in the leasing office, they act as if you are giving them too much work, hallways and stairwells looks like they have never been pressure washed even though they state they are. The office staff and treatment when we had to break our lease due to a job transfer killed our experience here. Would not recommend it to any one. We lived here from August '15 until November '16. The good: Our neighbors are awesome and it is a quiet community. Location is great. Everything else is bad. It is way overpriced for the amount of space that you have/don't have. The office staff is pitiful, rude, and inexperienced. The blonde lady, Drew, who left, was the only helpful employee. She knew her stuff. There is mold in the vent systems, which has caused health issues to 2 of our neighbors. Mission Hill was going to make them pay to fix it, so the residents left. They have only fixed the units that are "really bad", but I can assure you that we had mold in our vents, and they never fixed it. The pet park is incredibly bad quality due to construction. What you need to know... We renewed our 12 month lease in July 2016 to continue until August of 2017. At the end of October, we got the very unexpected notice that my husband was being transferred due to his job, and that he had 3 weeks to be moved to another city. We let the office know as soon as we found out, and had to begin to deal with Devon. She told us that because we were breaking our lease, and that there is a 60 day notice required to break your lease, we would have to pay those 2 months, plus a reletting fee of 80% of one months rent. We let her know that it is not realistic to give 2 months notice when moving due to unprecedented circumstances. We were going to have to pay November's rent (fair, since we would be living there for half of November anyway), December (what?!), and a $1000 reletting fee. All in all, about $3500 just to get out of our contract. This is where our issues began, and the way we were treated by the office staff began to deteriorate. Devon told us that she was pretty sure that she would be able to get our apartment leased before December, and that she's never had an issue reletting an apartment there. That made us feel a bit better about the situation. We gave her a definite move out date of November 12, so that she could have it leased as early as possibly, by November 13. Fast forward 3 weeks, and the apartment is not leased. We have called every other week to check in on the process and how the leasing is going on our apartment. Each time, we end up fighting with Devon because she treats my husband and I like children, and she gives stupid excuses as to why it's not leased and that "she can't do anything about it". The last time we called, which was 2 days ago, Devon said that no one has leased it, and that the apartment is not even READY to be leased (not painted, or cleaned) 3 WEEKS LATER. I told her that made no sense because if the apartment was ready, whomever walked in to lease it could move in immediately. She (of course) argued and said that they don't get apartments ready that aren't leased. I also asked her efforts were in leasing our apartment. Her response, "we don't do anything. We just wait for someone to walk through the door and want your apartment. I can't make someone take your apartment when they're looking for something else!" When we moved out she said that she would do everything in her power to lease our apartment. Never said to make anyone take anything. Just make any sort of effort to let people know that it is available. Too much to ask from someone so inexperienced and not willing to put in minimal effort. My husband called her later that same day to remind her of Texas law, which is that the apartment will do everything in their power to try and get the apartment leased so that you are not stuck paying rent on an apartment that you don't live in. She then accused us of harassment for calling her *once every other week* to check in on our apartment. She then went on to threaten us by saying that she could purposefully not lease it and sit on it for the remaining 30 days just to inconvenience us. Who's harassing who? She takes everything personally, and can't woman up to situations while still being respectful. Now it is December 1st, and we are stuck with paying rent for another month. Very, VERY pissed off at this situation, and with Devon. A horrible position to be in with the most unfriendly of people. Do not recommend at all. Do not live here, and if you do, steer clear of Devon. read more

Update! This review was written at an event! As are most of them in this time frame. There was an event giving away free stuff and if you write 5 star reviews, you got more entries lol what a way to make residents lie about how they really feel. This place is a mess! Other than maintenance, this place is trash! Back door to club house is broken, so anyone has access to it, pool is consumed by outsiders more than residents, gates haven't been working in months and they don't care either. We've had break ins and solicitors due to this gate issue. They felt the need to charge us for a package concierge box because they didn't wanna get off their butts and hand us a package. So now they said hey! Great idea! Lets have a package area but make YOU pay for it! There's an online message board where if you complain you're black listed and not allowed to share anything on there. lovely how they try to stop you from speaking your mind. I've never recommended this place to anyone nor will I ever and when people ask where I live, I always tell them not to even consider here. read more

The office staff here are TERRIBLE. I'm glad I moved out of there. The office staff 2 years ago was amazing, but they have been replaced by people who don't have a good understanding of what customer service is...I have a laundry​ list of things that made me upset. I'm too exhausted to type it all out. They have in their contract that you can't break the lease like no matter what......if there is a death of a resident or if you get relocated​ for work, they are not understanding​ and don't care. READ THE LEASE. That's why they have over 20 empty apartments now and counting. Used to only be about 4 or 5 at the most. The community is dwindling. They put on events that you pay for with an "activity fee" but the last one I went to for Halloween was not even set up at the time the event was supposed to start (35 min late). It's just a joke now. They put on a great facade, but I highly advise you look elsewhere for what you will pay to live there. read more

Maintenance is great. There hasn't been an issue with pests aside from the bat that was dying on the balcony the day I moved in (which they did not remove). Events OK: One burner for pancakes for the entire community is what you should expect.The coffee tastes odd on occasion and is ransacked by kids in the evening. I don't know that there is a courtesy officer--they haven't responded to me or a few of my neighbors. Several of the apts have an odd smell that we can't find a source for. Some apts were not cleaned and were missing items prior to move-in. The storage I rented was not cleaned either and was full of leaves, dirt, and bugs. No acknowledgement. When I signed a new lease, because I'm too busy to move this year, I requested they clean the carpet since it wasn't done before. I moved all my furniture but no one came. When I called, it was simply a miscommunication and they reminded me to sign some paperwork...They don't vacuum prior to cleaning. It took them about 15 minutes and I was told they would be turning on the heat to help it dry...Sounds like a great way to breed mold. The carpet was so wet it was running into the kitchen. I have never received a full 24-hr notice prior to having to move all items off the patio/balcony, or in the apartment for pest control. They claim that they don't have to. In the contract they have the right to enter whether you're home or not without prior notice and break your window to enter if you are home. They also claim to have the right to request you get approval for any outdoor addition or you are in violation of the agreement. Assistant office mgr lied to me saying that they do not approve of the type I had but two weeks later neighbors have the same up. You can receive a fine for not bringing in your trash can on time, not cleaning the apartment to their specific standards, day-late payment, or for not cleaning up after your pet. However, you will not be reimbursed for cleaning the apt when they don't or when your trash is not picked up. There have been times that the gym equipment is not available or the gates remain open for months.There is an unreasonable amount of dog waste left around the community. I don't know that they are fining residents for the one thing they should be because it seems unlikely that anyone with that kind of money to blow would be living here. They don't take preventative measures to keep the birds from nesting on your patio/balcony so they evacuate all over anything left out. Several residents have reported hearing staff talk about other residents who complain. Those who have had a complaint have found the assistant office manager condescending and unhelpful, yet she remains--a lot of sidestepping, blatant lying, or ignored messages. This is the only apartment I've lived at in NB where the dishwasher leaves a thick white film over the dishes that is difficult to scrub off. We are told it's the water. It may help to dump a bunch of vinegar in the washer prior to EACH wash. They won't be reimbursing you for the vinegar either. Because of the questionable water, you will need to purchase water bottles or water system. You cannot attach filters to the style of sink here. Expect to park a building or two over if you get here after 1700. Parking space was taken up by garages for additional charges. I can hear when my neighbors shut their doors. I can hear a neighbor shut the microwave and cabinets, my other neighbor's alarm (who likes to hit snooze a lot) and their phrases of excitement when they play video games. I could hear my upstairs neighbor walking all night, dropping items, opening doors, playing music..I lucked out and they each made an effort after I let them know how loud it was but others have gotten into altercations. They will move you; for a high fee, of course. Same for phase II. They are aware of all of these issues so any response to call into the office to discuss it is for show. I have already requested to speak to both managers--no response. I suggest having an attorney look over the contract if not choosing an alternate location. read more

Maintenance staff is great. Aside from that, I wouldn't live here after the lease ends unless they do something to fix the very noisy fan and vent in my bathroom. Also, the walls here are very thin. Our neighbor upstairs with kids and big dogs running and barking non stop all day long. The office said they would give the neighbors upstairs a courtesy call, but nothing has improved, only worse. Due to the bad flooring, you'll here everything from your neighbor upstairs, voices, arguments, walking, running. It's been so hard lately to find a parking spot. I'd have to drive around for a spot. Feel like they have more residents than parking spots. The pool is full of people who do not pay rent to live here. Can't wait to get out of this place. Absolutely will not ever recommend this place. A bad review will also be blocked on their online community wall. This is a big no no. Unacceptable. Don't expect to practice your citizen right freedom of speech here. read more

Our experience here has been great. We are two professional people in our 40's in between houses while we buy or build in New Braunfels. Try finding a rental house for a short term that allows a large dog and a cat. If you are lucky enough to find it they will make you feel like they are doing you a favor. Mission Hill actually gives us the impression they want us there. Sharp, enthusiastic, friendly group of people working in the office - we've worked with Caleigh and Sarah. Our apartment is beautiful - 2 BR, 1275 sq ft (roughly) - and very new with granite countertops, lots of cabinets for storage, a nice balcony, valet trash service, a garage, etc. Seems pretty energy efficient so far also as it got down to 38 last night with 45 mph winds earlier in the evening, and we didn't even have to turn the heat on. Very dog friendly with 3 dog parks and pet stations everywhere. Social events in the clubhouse on the weekends, etc. Seems like so often you only hear from the vocal minority and I wanted people to know we really like it. read more

I called over there today and received no answer. Not the kind of first impression you want from a management company. If you can't return an email and/or a subsequent email saying I emailed you once already, that just shows a huge lack of professionalism and/or lack of work ethic in my book. Mission Hill is not an amazing place to live. I had problems with an upstairs neighbor with a big dog and a girlfriend who made bedroom noises all night long. Although I complained repeatedly, I never got any help. They did offer to let me move to the 3rd floor for a fee! Really? Not only that, 6 months after I moved out, I noticed that my credit score had dropped. When I investigated I found out that they had charged me $200 after I left to clean my apartment, which I had left in good condition.They didn't bother to send the bill to my forwarding address. They sent it to a collection agency instead. read more

Beautiful apartments, but we never got the chance to live there. We had signed a lease contract, paid the $237 for the security deposit, application fee, and admin fee. We were originally supposed to move in the very beginning of October. That was the date the contract was signed for. We get a call a few days later letting us know that our apartment would not be ready until October 14th. That was fine, since our least at our other apartments wasn't ending until the 20th. We had almost finished packing everything, my fiancé had arranged his work schedules, and we had cleared our very busy weekend to be able to move in. (We are getting married in 8 weeks, which is the most stressful weeks and the most busy weeks). We get a call FIVE days before move-in day to let us know that our apartment would not be ready... AGAIN. This time, not until after our lease at our current apartment ends. This was not doable for us, since our lease was ending, we would need somewhere to live and also somewhere to store all our things. We can't just check-in to a hotel with all our stuff, and it is senseless to rent a storage unit. We go to the apartments to see if there is anything else available that is move-in ready since we really need a place to live and the 14th is really the only day we can move-in, especially since my fiancé is "on-call" for his plumbing job. The only things they had available were $65 more dollars a month, and for a college couple, that is a lot of money. We couldn't afford the extra money without being way too tight. We asked them to refund us the $237 since we cannot move in, to no fault of our own. We had to back out due to them not having the apartments ready.. not for any other reason. We figured that since we cannot move in because of something they did, the right thing for them to do is refund us the money. Instead, they told us it was "non-refundable" and are keeping our money. After all the stress and inconvenience this apartment complex has caused us, on top of not giving us the money back, I would not recommend these apartments to ANYONE. The staff seems friendly enough, but not after they have your money. They will literally kick you to the curb. The apartments really are beautiful, I just wish they had more morals and manners. We did find somewhere to live, and the staff there is just lovely and after hearing about what had happened to us, have been more than accommodating and have helped us out TREMEDOUSLY.
