This is not your typical playground. There are multiple sections of the park, which make it great for exploring. You turn a corner and cross a bridge and you're in a new space with new features! In the lower section, there is a water garden with misting fountains turned on during the warmer months. There are plenty of benches for taking a rest or snack time among the well-maintained greenery. I'd say for kiddos under 2, maybe even 3, playing on the pirate ship and near the slides definitely needs close adult supervision. The plank up the hill to the ship is quite steep, as are the two slides on the other side of the park. Definitely worth the trek into Seaport with your little ones!

Not an eyesore but an art installment in city center. Lots of school and local park playgrounds gear toward younger kids and toddlers. It was great to see my older kids engage so thoroughly. They were running, laughing and sweating up a storm in the blistering Boston summer. They were talking about how to work the water installments through collaboration, getting other kids in on the fun, too. Very nice job on this play structure install. Do kind of wish there was more shade for the parents and infants waiting at the banks.

I love the access from here to the pond; it makes taking a walk around the pond before or after the playground a nice option. Not to mention all the shops and restaurants right on Center Street as well. There is easily accessible parking behind the playground - it is the public parking lot in JP behind Blanchards. It is 2 hours only, but that is usually more than enough time to get in and out of the playground. It's nice to not have to troll around for a parking spot.

There are far too many kids for a toddler to be safe, and my kid ended up getting frustrated and crying in the end, which is unusual for him. That said, all the older kids looked like they were having a great time.

We LOVE this park!…read more The playground is safe, well equipped and appropriate for children of all ages. The sand box is always clean and there are always lots of toys for the kids to play with. It is partly shaded which is nice during the hot summer month. The water fountain is a definite plus. What we like most about the park is the amazing programing that goes on year around. From Santa's visit, to The easter Egg hunt, the Spring Festival, Halloween fun and the wonderful summer concert series and kids series, there is always something great and fun happening. All free and a beautiful safe environment. You can also play tennis and basketball, enjoy a picnic, or just relax... A South End gem.

You're really only here for the location and that nebulous "romantic feel". The ice itself is atrocious, even though the rink (and I use that term lightly) does get a Zamboni out from time-to-time. But the ice is so uneven. You can see concrete in some spots, with how some of the ice is so thin. You'll encounter a lot of folks that cannot stay vertical on skates, it's just the reality. Don't be surprised when someone behind you suddenly grabs you in desperation to prevent themselves from falling. Plus it's super crowded here during peak times. There are so many other nearby spots of grab better and more affordable concessions, so don't fall for the ones here.
