On January 8, my husband was diagnosed with a large saddle pulmonary embolism. Later that same…read morenight, he suffered three heart attacks, followed by mechanical removal of the embolism, and two strokes between January 8 and January 18. After spending a month in the ICU and then another month at a specialty care hospital, my husband arrived at Pomeroy on March 6. At that time, he was still not meeting his ADLs and had a Stage 4 infected wound. I share this background because it's important to understand how complex his care needs were. Out of five facilities, Pomeroy was the only one willing to accept him. Others were unable or unwilling to take on such a complicated case, and for that alone, we are incredibly grateful. From the moment we arrived, the staff demonstrated professionalism, compassion, and a genuine commitment to my husband's well‑being. I would like to express my sincere appreciation for the exemplary care provided at this skilled nursing facility. Ray, Kelly and Jolisa, RN, consistently went above and beyond, ensuring strong communication and attentive medical oversight. A special thank you to Kelly, Wound Care Nurse, whose expertise, dedication, and kindness have made a meaningful difference in my husband's healing and comfort. The CNAs--Makela, Felicia, Octavia, and Jay--have been truly wonderful. They are patient, respectful, and consistently attentive, always treating residents with dignity and warmth. Their teamwork and positive attitudes have made a very difficult time easier for both my husband and our family. I would also like to recognize Tony and Bri, Physical and Occupational Therapy. They have been incredible--working tirelessly with my husband, encouraging him as they help him practice sitting up and standing. Even though progress takes time, they have never stopped believing in him or motivating him to keep trying. This facility is fortunate to have such a dedicated and compassionate team. I am deeply grateful for the care my husband has received and would highly recommend Pomeroy to anyone seeking quality, patient‑centered skilled nursing care.

PT, Case…read moreworker, and Dietary are the oNLY departments that are decent. where do I start with the issues my mom experiences at this place: first night my elderly mother (while on the phone w me) asked the nurse Quanita for some assistance going to the bathroom. the nurse said "Pee in your diaper!" the next day I went there and spoke to the nurse manager-Ray. He got loud and tried to intimidate me by saying, "that was wrong and inappropriate What my nurse said to your mother but I can have you banned from seeing your mother if you yell at the nurses on the phone"..... I then I went to visit her the next day at 230pm and my mom was back in the dirty (urine and vomit) gown from Henry Ford Hospital that she was wearing when transferred to Pomeroy. I asked her nurse Quinta why the hell she wasn't dressed yet at 230pm and why the hell she was in the dirty gown from Henry Ford Hospital (stamped on the collar of the gown) when her closet was filled with a ton of clean clothes! The nurse in a "I don't care" tone said, "huh.... I will get someone to change her". I absolutely lost it. i asked for the Administrator number. everyone on this nursing unit acted like no one knew anything or how to get ahold of her. That Monday I called the Administrator 10 times "Sparkle was her name". she finally called me back at the end of that week because I told them I was going to call the State of Michigan. The administrator assured me that my mom was going to START receiving better care. Then a few days later I asked to speak with the dietican-Ashley (absolutely wonderful person) and she changed my moms diet to include Boost at breakfast & dinner and would receive a high calorie ice cream at lunch. 4 days went by and my mom didnt recieve anything! I was BEYOND frustrated. and guess who her nurse was all week.......Quinta! Betty the caseworker supervisor (wonderful woman) looked into it. she said, "your mother diet was changed and it shows that her nurse has been signing off that she has been giving it to your mother". So I went up to Quinta and demanded she starts doing her fkn job. i hate to say this but the nurses here are so ghetto!!! finally the nursing supervisor Julia Burger came in the room and told me to stop talking/yelling at her nurses. Then she had the odasity to tell me that I need to take a class in people skills and that I have a reputation there as being rude and difficult. I started to laugh, "i lost my people skills the moment i personally heard Quinta tell my mom to pee in her diaper. I lost my people skills when the didn't dress her by 2pm, I lost my people skills when Quinta put her back into a dirty hospital gown covered in urine and vomit. I lost my people skills when your nurses are falsifing my mother notes by saying that they are giving her something that they aren'. it's really sad and pathetic that I have to get this rude and aggressive for my mom to get the care she needs!" please- if you are still reading this, DO NOT send your loved ones here!!!!!!

I added my review to Google last year, after the gross neglect here directly resulted in my family member's death. Reading the reviews on here, I am more horrified than ever. They aren't doing this for free! I have no idea how this place is getting away with swindling patients, medicare and insurance to get paid large amounts of money to NEGLECT patients. I do not know how this place is still legally allowed to operate. The Michigan Department of Licencing and Regulatory Affairs and the Department of Health and Human Services needs to, at bare minimum, conduct a mystery/secrect shop audit so they can see what really goes on behind closed doors. -------------- My loved one was transferred to the rehab here after a hospital stay. Rehab, not nursing home. This is a place where he was supposed to regain some strength and mobility. He had developed a manageable bed sore in the hospital. This bed sore grew exponentially in size and severity during the approx. 2 weeks he was here and looked infected. He was not receiving proper wound care or meaningful repositioning. The standard for bed-bound patients is to reposition them every 2 hours at minimum - particularly if a bed sore is already present. This was NOT DONE. He often waited very long periods of time in his own urine and/or excrement before being changed, greatly increasing the risk of bed sore infection in this sensitive area. He went into septic shock due to an infection and passed away. DO NOT entrust this place with your loved ones who may require any sort of advanced care or wound care. The purpose of my review is to warn others. STAY FAR AWAY FROM THIS PLACE.

Their is no ventilation in the room, food is horrible, its never hot & smells like it straight out of a tin can. I complained to the owner about my mom being violated as she is not mobile. She said they could move her. Guess what? Man moved the bed & left the rest of her stuff in her room. I tried to move what i could. I was locked on the 3rd floor & no one was there to unlock the elevator so i could back to the 2nd floor. This place is a straight-up nightmare!! When it was time for me to leave, they left 2 new hires with no keys to unlock the elevator. Every door stairway, etc is locked down. I had to wait too long for someone to let me on that elevator so i can go home. What happens if there's a fire?? I started to pull the fire alarm... The Warren Fire Marshall needs to know about this! Over two months later I get huge bills from another company, apparently the billing company, that I wasn't expecting if I was answered correctly in the beginning I would have planned accordingly. Terrible service. The techs seem to do all the work. It seems either too busy because people show up for appointments late or overstaffed because the schedule is done poorly. There are so many therapy places to choose from I would not recommend this one to anyone, very poorly managed.

There is a chair in the room that will stretch into a lounge chair so you can stay and sleep with your loved one. The bathrooms are well appointed with all the bars one could ask to hang onto. The lighting is good, you can keep the room very warm if you want to and there is a decent tv with some OK stations to watch. The staff were attentive, kind and most importantly, responsive. They all have their personalities and moods as humans tend to do but overall they were excellent. The RN's the Assistants did their jobs very well. I forget a lot of the staff names but each and everyone treated my mom very well. I do remember Yvette, an Assistant, as being extra kind and helpful. One night RN brought in her adorable puppy, Paul, and it totally lite up the life in my mom when she let mom hold the puppy...it sure brightened my day as well. Mom was here 23 days. We probably would have stayed a bit longer but there was a screamer down the hall, on one side of us was a guy that would have a daily bout of high volume cursing and throwing a fit, on the other side a new lady came in that would talk at the top of her lungs on the phone, for an hour usually around 11pm and worst of all was the woman across the hall that helped herself into mom's room numerous times to ask about her grandson or to ask me to put her clothes on...it got to feel like a looney bin. I get it, it's hard to maintain all the other patient issues but for us it was time to go and finish recovering at home. I liked that you could come and go as a visitor 24 hours a day. There is a 7-11 behind the building so you can go and get snacks or a cup of coffee. Yes, the staff should watch your loved one but if you can figure it out...so should you. Visit often or stay for a few hours - or stay at night for a few hours to bring comfort to your loved one. My one star ding is for the Social Worker and General Management as it was very difficult to get them to reply to my calls, emails and hand-written messages. Overall, I recommend this place.
