I also was able to find a bag of loose Formosa oolong tea which I had been looking for for a long time and can generally only find in teabags. The staff were very friendly and welcoming. We did not purchase any candy but we did check out the selection and they had a nice selection with good variety. This is definitely a stop for every Lexington vacation.

When we REALLY feel like splurging, one of our favorites in the old school toys section is the potato gun. It's about $3 (make sure to buy a couple - it's way more fun that way), that "bullets" are made from pressing the toy into a potato. HOURS OF ENJOYMENT. I have tried a lot of their seasonings and grilling sauces, and they have yet to disappoint. They also have lots of cute kitchen accessories. Upstairs is a baby gift area, but is especially known for the Christmas ornaments and accessories. Their wide assortment make great hostess gifts at holiday time! It's definitely a "step back in time", but I will ALWAYS make time for the Lexington General Store.

I was present for some the piglets and hay auctions. It is not as intense as I imagined it would be. It was low key and easy to do. The auctioneer was not intimidating AT ALL. There is also a pretty nice flea market during the auction. I saw lots of antiques, ducks, chickens, puppies, and kittens. Fun fun fun. Hey! If you're Amish then there is even a hitching post for your carriage. Be prepared to see some sad looking, used up, dairy and beef cows. It really puts the "where your food is coming from issue" in perspective.
