I've been coming every now and then to La Mission and they never disappoint. The staff always greet you warmly and attend to your table continually. The inside is always clean and the decoration fits well. When I'm craving a burger, I definitely recommend their Southwest Cheeseburger. Ordered a very large order for a large family and not a single thing was right. Not. One. Single. Thing. We ordered off the vegetarian menu and they put pork in all of it. We order things without onions, everyone hates onions, so everything had extra onions. We were missing items and lunch ended up being really sad. I always order the same dish with the same substitute of chicken instead of beef and pay a couple dollars more more for it. Well when we got our receipt, because they don't give you a bill to look over beforehand, I noticed there was a $12.50 charge for the meat substitution for both entrees. When I asked our waitress why we got charged so much for that she just said, "There's a button for substitutions and wherever it says it what you owe," and she just walked away. A bland, "Mexican Restaurant" that puts Top Shelf Margaritas in plastic cups and does not have Carne Asada on an early Friday evening. If you have been cursed with the opportunity to waste your money in this dump of a restaurant, then you and I have something in common. The first time I went there was Christmas of 2017. All 20 members of my family got sick from what we thought was a flu. Strangely, that restaurant was only place we saw each other and everyone insisted it was the shared Guacamole. Regardless, I wanted to give this place another shot. My family is from Lamar and tried to convince me to go to one of the other Mexican Restaurants, but I had to have my way. Fkn Mistake. I'm not sure where to start with the service, so let me talk about our sarcastic waitress named Cassie. She's a middle aged woman with blonde hair who does not know how to do her job. Not only did she put out 4 baskets of chips and left them without salsa for 20-30 minutes, but she never mentioned that there was no Steak left in the kitchen. Yes, I said it! No Carne Asada at a Mexican Restaurant. On a Friday Night. I'm pretty sure that's considered a sin in the Holy Bible. When it was convenient for her, she came over to take our order. My Aunt said, "Me and these three will be on the same check." Rudely the waitress responded with, "Yeah, with parties larger than 6, we don't split checks." I'm sorry, but when you don't provide an ATM, you'll need to split checks for people. Both the relleno, and enchilada were over-cooked. The relleno was fried to death and looked more like a bad churro than a relleno. I've never seen a relleno chili so small & skinny. This was our first time coming to this restaurant. I ordered chicken fried steak. It wasn't to my expectations. Was very small. Was ok . My dad ordered the eggs with green chile and tortillas . Was ok. There green chile was awesome loved it I've been gone from Colorado for 10 years,and I've had miss the colorado green chile. Our waiter was awesome he deserves,a,raise. We were camping at a state park nearby and wanted to go out for our last night. We thought this place was good! A lot of low reviews but we decided to try it out since the most recent review was positive. The server was very friendly and prompt, the food came out hot and fresh without scalding plates that the kids would burn their hands on. Chips were average. Salsa was just the right amount of spicy. Our meals were tasty and just how we ordered them. They were very accommodating to a few changes on our meals and the house margaritas were huge! Mission Failure, you mean. In my last review I gave this place four stars; now only one. The place is shabby. Burnt-out light bulbs need to be replaced. The register counter is grungy with bits of food lodged between the glass and the wooden top. My greatest hope for the evening was to not go to sleep while hugging the porcelain trophy in the bathroom. The food? Lukewarm, and what looked like huge portions were actually huge portions of beans and rice. The chili in the relleno was so tough and fibrous that my knife could not cut it and it had a musty odor and taste. I saw no sign of the proud energetic owner I had met in my first visit. This place was a complete hole! Half the lights didn't work and we were told to sit wherever we'd like..uh ya there were no open tables except for a huge one right smack in the middle of the place. So we decided what the heck and the 3 of us sat down thinking if we are in the middle we will get great service if nothing else..right! Seems to be a "locals" place as everyone knew each other and in fact I watched a lady and man sit down at a table that came available and just start eating the chips and salsa that was left behind from the people prior. Gross! My son ordered refried beans and tortillas and he said they were good, but really how do you mess up canned beans? My husband ordered the machaca chalupa..it was soggy and burried under a lettuce patch. Finally, I ordered the machaca chimichanga and sent it back because the zucchini side was cold and they seemed to have forgot to fry the burrito, thus not making it a chimi. Once it came back.. My family was about done eating and well the burrito was fried but the rest was still cold! Enough about the horrible food...the service was equally as horrible and apparently refills are like winning the lottery and our numbers weren't picked. My 7 year old son stopped the waitress and asked if we could possibly get a few refills. I'm giving a single star only because the hot green chili did make me sniffle and I like that. read more

We were passing thru town and this restaurant had more cars parked outside than any other place - now we know why. The service and food were great! The best chili relleno we've had in quite a while. As I sit here waiting for my food, I'm swatting at half a dozen flies as they try to stake their flag in my chips and salsa (which tastes like they may have dropped a little dish soap in it). Napkin comes wrapped around a fork, no knife. No straw with my drink. Been waiting 40 min. This chimichanga better be good. Ok chimichanga just arrived. Along with more flies. This trip is a bust. Still here...the trick is to order a bowl of red chili and leave it at the other side of he table to distract the flies. That way you can eat in relative peace. This is apparently the hot place for Mexican food on this side of town. We stopped in for lunch on a Saturday and it was pretty crowded. The menu is typical popular Mexican food, but nothing too authentic or scary for Anglos. Don't come here expecting menudo or nopalitos The smothered machaca burrito I had was tasty. They say their specialty is green chile and I had it medium. Not bad. Rice and beans were fine. Nothing out of the ordinary here. I dont rate and/or review restaurants often. But some establishments strike a chord in my heart. First of all the dining area was tip top, Nicely decorated, and incredibly clean. Their service was second to none Really! We were greeted immediately. They were attentive and expedient throughout our stay. We got our meals within 20 minutes during lunch rush. And the food! Without a doubt one of the best meals Ive had in recent memory. I was very impressed not only for how they treated us but how they treated one another. We were in town for the Cal Ripken Baseball Tournament and called the Mission about 20 minutes prior to arriving with our entire team! The manager, Ryan, secured the outdoor patio for us and we had a great time. The margaritas are AMAZING! I don't know where all the bad ratings are coming from, but our experience was as follows: 1. The chimichanga was the best I have ever had (and that includes San Antonio, Texas). 2. My wife swore the same thing about her tamales, and she is a hard critic to please. 3. The green chili was excellent. 4. The salsa for the chips was abundant and full of taste; it was moderately spicy, which was also good. 5. The restaurant was clean, and the staff were friendly and helpful. Friendliness & service is pretty bad. We waited well over 5 min to even get menus, and the server had absolutely no personality. They were understaffed with only 2 girls on the floor and neither were friendly. We were hoping for a quick stop, but it turned into an hour wait for our food. The food was good. I had the chicken taco salad with medium green chili sauce. It was tender & the flavor was very good. I probably could have gone with the hot green chili for an extra kick. My friend had the breakfast burrito and said the chorizo could have been more flavorful. However, the value of the food was descent. The women's restrooms were disgusting and smelly! We were able to dine in the patio which was warm but pleasant and the food is as good as everyone before has said I had the chimichangas and they were large and crispy the refried beans were excellent. I had a side of squash which was excellent instead of rice. Dolores was fun and her energy is contagious she creates great margaritas and takes awesome care of the patrons. I had a mango margarita which was very very good. We had this place recommended by several people who live here and they were absolutely right the restaurant is clean it looks beautiful on the patio and it's very inviting. we spent a little more time just hanging out and enjoying the place. read more
