We stopped at the welcome center for a restroom break and didn't need any information. The restrooms were outside of the welcome center to the right in the rear. They were sufficient but unkept. They had a large parking lot and grounds. Vending machines are available and aren't in cages: onsite security and guard cats. I think the cats are there to get rid of all the pigeons. read more

Among State Welcome Centers, this one it pretty nice. I have always found the restrooms here to be relatively clean. I do love the Southern Mansion style building, the trees with Spanish moss, and landscaping. There are good places to walk and enjoy the scenery, including dog walk areas, plenty of parking and picnic tables. When the Information Center is open, you can find brochures for places to visit in Mississippi and perhaps even enjoy some coffee or tea. One year my wife was with me, and she started flirting with a life-sized, cardboard cutout of a young and handsome Elvis Presley that was on display... This year, I was traveling solo, and I was planning on having a talk with him, but the visitor center was closed (Saturday around 2 PM) so it didn't happen. There is overnight parking for RVs and a dumping station. To get there from Interstate 10. You have to exit the Interstate, turn south onto another road, then turn right onto the entrance road. read more

Off the interstate at an exit, this Welcome Center is quite large and features some good angles to really slow down the traffic as it enters. Clear signs indicate "No overnight parking" are always a disappointment because people get tired at night and should be able to sleep properly rather than drive tired. Several "pull out" places for bigger vehicles and lots of shade for a nap if you find the right spot. This rest area does have an RV dump site with flush water. That's a plus. We were on our way to Louisiana, and so, we had to pass by Mississippi first. Have to say this welcome center is inconvenient. You have to get off the highway to then do turns and circles to finally end up there. Have no idea about the actual welcome center, but we stopped for a potty break. Bathrooms were relatively busy. Seems everyone had the same idea for 4th of July weekend. Other than that, they had a few benches and some soda machines. Seriously just a place for the bare necessities. read more

Decided to stop at the Mississippi Welcome Center to use the restroom. The area is nice. There are lots of places to park and walk around but the restrooms were not very clean. They have plenty of toilets and sinks but the water in the toilets was discolored and one of the sinks was broken and running constantly. There were some inappropriate things written in the stalls. There were no toilet seat covers. There were no paper towels. I would recommend taking your own paper towels or napkins to dry your hands after washing them. I would only recommend this place if you have to use the bathroom really bad or if you just want a place to stop and stretch your legs. read more

Great place to stop and stretch, use facilities, set up your lunch picnic, or pop up your camper and settle in. The location is just after the state line, and if you are heading to the Bay St Louis area, that's also your exit. The bathrooms are clean, just your basic easy to clean restroom. This isn't a private establishment, so if you're looking for something kin to the mega-stops, this isn't your place. There are some things to walk around and take in. If you find yourself pulling into this welcome center after you run to the restroom and gather yourself don't forget to do a little exploring and give yourself the well deserved break you've earned. Spending a few minutes walking around this roadside oasis will pay big dividends once you get back on the road. It's not always the case that there are historically significant things to view when you enter a rest area so I do enjoy finding something interesting while stretching my legs. It's not everyday you get a free of charge glimpse of a full scale lunar lander trainer set up for your viewing pleasure. It's not well known or widely advertised but NASA has a presents in states other than Florida and Texas actually they have facilities around the world employing thousands on staff working on the next generation of space exploration. I snapped a shot of Fred Haise footprints and signature in the concrete beneath this lunar module trainer a replica of the one he piloted during the aborted Apollo 13 lunar mission in 1970. It appears they will just let this, piece of history deteriorate as do most government funded projects. Due to the free return trajectory on this mission, Fred Haise, Jim Lovell and Jack Swigert, the other two astronauts on Apollo 13, likely hold the record for the farthest distance from the Earth ever traveled by human beings which seems some what significant. Some would say the urgency here would be to renovation the restrooms and let the space junk waste away, after all most stop here to pee not to look at history I'm sure most don't even remember Apollo 13 the mission maybe the movie tho... read more

This welcome center is a great place to stop by and stretch your legs! The bathrooms are pretty clean, and the vending machines are well stocked. They also have a nice dog pathway for you to exercise your doggie after your break in your journey. If you are into Pokémon it also has a decent spinners and critters. Great place for an official "bathroom break". Lots of restrooms for your picking pleasure. Interesting decor inside the Welcome Center. Lots of brochures and guides of tourist attractions and all things interesting about Mississippi. Clean facility. Lots of vending machines for snacking and to get liquids to fill up your bladder til the next stop. Ample room to stretch your limbs for the next leg of the journey. First off this place is open 24/7 on the restrooms! It's 9am to 5pm for the welcome center. Plenty of parking spots and a lot of options in vending machines. Doors are literally broken so be careful they can slam shut behind you. Bathrooms smell of chlorine, might I add it's very strong smelling. The parking lot may be giant and have a lot of spots, but be warned there is literally no light and the streetlights they have aren't doing the job at all. I mean this is a perfect spot to snooze for a long time. Just make sure to keep up with your weather channel, you'll never know if you just pull in right before a rain storm will happen. If it does, expect to be stuck for awhile. Last note, the soap in the women's are out and expect the toilets to not be flush. How hard is it to just press a tiny button? Come on. No paper towels, and vending machines do accept card. Just a little pricey for my taste. read more

Mississippi always has great rest areas. This rest area is the first one as you enter MS from LA on I-10. The bathrooms are clean, and open 24 hours. Unfortunately they only have the air dryers which never seem to dry my hands on the allotted time. Inside the welcome center it is fancy. Nice chairs and couches await the weary traveled. The staff is friendly and offers coffee as you enter. There is also a large selection of brochures, maps and coupons. Because the rest area is close to the Stennis Space Center, there is a large spaceship out front. You can't miss it. If you need a rest area, this is a good one. read more

Three stars for convenience and easy access to and from the freeway. When it's open, the visitors center does have great information on local attractions. The Stennis Space Center is nearby and that's awesome. Plenty of parking, a couple of pet areas, picnic tables, dumping station for grey and black water from RV's. The vending machines are a bit on the high side of pricing. $2 for a 20 ounce soda. Everything is at least neat and clean. -15 stars for the slanted baby changing table in put my gnome on that the gnome fell and smashed when someone opened the bath door. The women's restroom did have toilet paper. But there were excessively large holes in the walls where the plumbing went through. No soap in the dispensers in the middle of the day. The hand dryers were electric, produced cold air that did not come out strongly at all. The trash cans were full in the middle of the day on my most recent visit. My suggestion, if heading east, is to wait for the next fast food place to stop at. If heading west, stop at the Louisiana welcome center less than 5 miles away. Use this only as a spot to get up and stretch your legs as needed, or walk your dog, or throw out your trash. read more

I wouldn't normally think to do a review of a state welcome center. Usually you just encounter them just after crossing a state line, right? Well, in this case, it was a bit different. We were heading west on I-10 and saw the sign for this place before leaving Mississippi. One of our party wanted to hit their restroom, so we pulled off. Then we found that, rather than being adjacent to the highway (as is usually the case), this place required you to exit, turn left across some oddly laid out divided highway, cross under I-10, drive about 1/4 mile, and enter a NASA science center driveway. You then skip the NASA turn and continue on into (at that point) a normal rest stop. However, if you are looking for convenience, this isn't it. You'd be much better off to continue for another couple of minutes west and stop at the Louisiana Welcome Center (we didn't, but it appeared much more convenient). Just FYI. read more

Stopped by on the way back home on Monday May 8, 2023, and the center was closed. Used the restroom and it was awful and run down. I would give it lower than a 1 star, however it is better than using the outdoors. I have stopped here in the past and it doesn't appear that they have done anything to replace the worn out missing tiles etc. in the restroom. The staff of the welcome center need to drive down the road to the Louisiana Welcome Center and take notes on how they run their welcome center. Sorry, but I give honest opinions. Random location on the south side of the interstate with construction at the center. We stopped for a quick bathroom and leg stretch. If you are traveling west, then you'll need to travel to the other side of the road and then take a right. I don't know if we just had bad luck, but it seem we had construction at every rest stop we stopped and this was no exception. One set of bathrooms are closed. The grounds are nice. As we were leaving, we saw shady places with picnic tables. They are as you are exiting but you could easily park your car here. Enjoy the welcome center. Not a very "welcoming" place actually. They have curt signs all over telling you all the things you can't do before you ever get to the building. Most of these type place have rules and regs but they are not written and posted so hatefully. Bathroom was pretty gross as well. read more

This was one of the nicest stops for a state-owned rest area on our recent trip from Texas to Florida. We arrived and immediately take our dogs to the "Pet Area" that is signed and designated for pooch relief. There are several areas for you to park with a picnic table and trash can as well as a water spicket to aid clean up after you're done picnicking. The restrooms are well-kept, clean and well-stocked with toilet paper. The only downside to the restroom facility is the hand dryers used. They are a bit old and slow and don't put out enough power to dry your hands efficiently. There was a lot of greenery and scenery to block the view of the highway which really allowed you to relax and take a break from the stress of travel. The last neat thing about this stop, is you can see old space shuttle parts and moon landers used for space exploration as this rest area is connected to the infinity space center. read more

I always stop at welcome centers when crossing the border into the next state. Basically they are all wonderful advertisements for the state you are entering. THik about it, if the welcome center is not welcoming why would you want to spend a day or a night in the state you are entering. Sooo... the Mississippi welcome center is quite welcoming. with small displays of things going on in Mississippi and freee maps, and lots of flyers about things to do in various areas of the state and clean nice restrooms and very friendly people and ... and that is what a welcome center is all about. Bathroom was gross. Men's room had only two stalls. Hand dryer was an old electric one that blew cool air very gently. One of the sinks was clogged. Overall the bathroom was dirty and worn. For a big welcome center sharing an exit with the Space Center, this should be a crown jewel of rest areas. I kinda needed to poop. Instead, I peed as quickly as I could and got the hell out of there. read more

I live in Slidell and often take cruises eastbound to the Gulfport in my car. Even though it is a rest area, this welcome center is one of my favorite places to stop and stretch my feet and maybe get a soft drink. They have well kept bathrooms that are well lit and comfortable. There are lots of places to get out with benches, pavillions and trash cans. There are really pretty live oaks and pines all over the grounds. The interior is very Southern. The people who work here are very friendly and helpful. There are lots of places to sit inside and get off your feet. It is very comfortable and "cozy" in the building itself. read more

I passed the last exit off 10 east in Louisiana, not knowing it would be another 20+ miles until another gas station. I arrived at this welcome center with my fuel gauge all the way down to zero, and asked the "security guard" there where is the closest gas station. No one else was in ear-shot when I asked. He says it is 12 miles away; maps said it was 9.5 miles away. I decide not to try it, and stayed there and called AAA. I let the cat out of the car, since I couldn't run the engine and AC for her. The cat runs off in the opposite direction of the pet area and hides in the bushes. My first face-to-face interaction with the "security guard" is him unpleasantly telling me to take the cat to the pet area, which I was obviously doing. That's when I tried to be friendly and ask about the gas station, but some people are just permanent grumps (those people shouldn't work at "welcome centers"). He continued to give me nasty looks until 45 minutes later, after I finally got my gas, retrieved my cat, and was walking to my car with her, he yells at me and says "Hey! Wait right there!" I wait for him to make his way over (he can hardly walk), and he tells me "You have to go." And accuses me of soliciting people for gas. He claims he got a "complaint." The problem with that story, is he's the only person I so much as mentioned gas to. Immediately after I asked him about it, I went and called AAA, then waited 45 minutes for them to show up. Why would I be asking people for gas when I had already called AAA and they were on the way? Someone could have lied and said I asked them for gas, but who would have known to do that? Only he knew I was out of gas, which leads me to believe he made up this "complaint." This man should not be working at a WELCOME CENTER. Even on days he's not making up stories to make people's misfortunes worse, he can barely walk! How is he securing anything? Mississippians' tax dollars are paying this man to harass people. read more
