I immediately called my usual alterations shop, but they were fully booked and couldn't fit me in. After reading the excellent reviews for Pearl Alterations, I decided to call. The owner encouraged me to come in straight away, explaining that once he saw the dress he could give me a quote and let me know if it could be completed before my flight. From the moment I met him, he was warm and welcoming. He immediately put me at ease during what was quite a stressful situation, and I felt confident that my dress was in experienced hands. When I tried the dress on, I honestly wasn't optimistic. It fit terribly around the bust and I couldn't imagine how it could ever look flattering. Within minutes, using just a few pins, he completely transformed the fit. I could suddenly see the beautiful dress I'd hoped I'd bought! The workmanship was exceptional. Satin is notoriously difficult to alter, but every change was beautifully executed and completely invisible. The dress now fits as though it was custom made for me. What impressed me even more was his professionalism and attention to detail. He had the dress finished two days before my flight, giving us time for any final adjustments if needed. Thankfully, none were necessary because the fit was absolutely perfect. During our conversation, I learned he has over 40 years of tailoring experience, and it certainly shows. I was also pleasantly surprised by how fair and honest his pricing was. I felt the cost was extremely reasonable and represented excellent value for the quality of workmanship. I'm absolutely thrilled with the result and so grateful to have found such an outstanding tailor. The tone and behavior came across as outright misogynistic, which is both shocking and unacceptable in this day and age. What's worse is that we've trusted this business for so long, but this experience completely shattered that trust. I cannot recommend this shop anymore. Treating loyal customers--and anyone, for that matter--with respect should be the bare minimum.
