I was very impressed at the selection they offer. They offer lettuce, kale, radishes, beets, celery, assortment of tomatoes, asparagus, scallions, cilantro, spinach, a table full of herbs, corn, green beans, apples, peaches, plums, squash, pumpkins, onions, potatoes, ginger, garlic, brussel sprouts, cauliflower, peppers, eggplant, cucumbers, and avocados. They also offer fresh bread, seasonings, honey, honeybee pollen, an assortment of uniquely flavored jams and jellies, REAL maple syrup, maple kettle corn, and assorted sauces. It's not too often you'll find such fresh foods and ingredients at a local farmer's market in the city. They accept cash, card, and SNAP! I would definitely recommend stopping by on a Tuesday or Friday. The people working here are so nice and helpful, and you can tell they care about providing the community with the freshest ingredients.

Unreasonable too, when questioned about the price discrepancy they threatened to refuse service. Maybe they are racist? This isn't even a farmers market, only one farmer, I don't know why they are listed as a farmers market on maps. Don't buy here.

I sent a link to her of a shipping container farm and she said "oh this reminds me of fresh truck." I thought Fresh whoahuh whaa?? www.thefreshtruck.org came up when I googled the name. It was far from a farm in a box, but still a really cool project servicing a need in the community. A National Problem: I have witnessed first hand working in the inner city, the lack of availability of fruits and vegetables in these neighborhoods. The kids eat firey spicy chips, drink liters of soda, blissfully unaware of the road they are going down and the ultimate price they may pay. When we buy local we stimulate the local economy and reduce environmental costs. When we eat healthy real unprocessed foods we help prevent disease from attacking our bodies. Access to fruits and vegetables is key. Some people in our "rich" country do not have access to real foods, and it drives me crazy. In many areas around our country there are no local farmers markets. I'm fortunate to have many options here in New York City. But this disconnect between the public and good healthy food is concerning. Programs that help the people in these areas try to help the community make healthier choices, however their efforts often fail as their patients have no access. Subsidized foods appear lining their shelves and local stores; cheap, filling, and in abundance. The subsidized foods in turn are expensive, and paid by the tax payers in the form of Medicaid, and other government programs. These food deserts ridden with, disease, cancer, diabetes, tragically turn a profit for the very same people who've probably subsidized this nutrient deficient processed foods in the first place. Cheap food is expensive: If we as a society consume cheap food we pay for it later. It costs less in the long run to prevent disease than to get rid of disease after someone is sick. Taxpayers pay this ginormous bill. http://www.kaiserhealthnews.org/Stories/2010/August/19/diabetes-cost-FT.aspx Diabetes is an a billion dollar, if not trillion worldwide. If people are educated on healthy eating and have options through proper diet management and prevention is attainable. The Skinny: Two months ago Fresh Truck exceeded their kickstarter.com fundraising goal, and raised the money they needed to launch their Mobile Market. http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1530126668/fresh-truck-mobile-farmers-market/posts . With a lower overhead than a traditional brick and mortar store, hopefully this business will fill a need, thrive, and make a difference. Access here is key. We need more businesses in our country like Fresh Truck It was refreshing to speak with Dan, one of the founders of FreshTruck, about the launch of this business. He understands there is a disconnect in our country and he is trying to help do something about it. "Fresh Truck is a social business that will operate a retrofitted school bus as a mobile farmers market, serving Boston neighborhoods with fresh, affordable fruits and vegetables. Fresh Truck has a regular weekly schedule, reaching multiple neighborhoods each day and targeting communities that are most underserved in terms of food access. Fresh Truck will alter the environment where families residing in food deserts make their food shopping decisions in favor of a healthier lifestyle." In May (if all goes smoothly) fresh truck will begin operation, servicing the Boston community. It's difficult for community programs and partners to help people in their community choose healthier choices when there are very few alternatives to subsidized cheap junk food -- Fresh Truck bridges this gap. What I love about Fresh Truck: Fair Prices Locally Sourced Supports the Local Economy Takes strain off of our Environment DOUBLE VALUE ON FOODSTAMPS :) The Scene: Environmental, Local, Earthy, Feel Good Destination Rating: 7 (Very unique) Date Rating: 2 Hob Nob Potential: 1 Strong Suggestion: want to support Fresh Truck? :) follow them on twitter https://twitter.com/theFreshTruck http://www.bostonmagazine.com/health/blog/2013/07/10/fresh-truck-boston/

Obviously there was no seating due to this being a pop-up, but the service was phenomenal with the cashier being super friendly and well-versed in the store's products. This was right by the Boston Public Library, which made it perfect for a light snack; I believe they're here every Tuesday and Friday. The cashier recommended the Honeycomb Dopo Panna Latte and the Ube Butter Mochi, so I got those and two other butter mochi flavors. Honeycomb Latte (8/10): The first few sips of this were AMAZING-creamy, nutty, caramel-y, and sweet with slight textured bits that I assume were honeycomb. I think I didn't fully stir bc the drink became much more bland and tasted like very lightly sweetened/flavored milk after the first few sips. The drink was a bit hard to stir due to the large ice cubes and the cream being at the top. Overall, not bad going off of the first few sips and giving benefit of the doubt with my partial stirring. Chocolate Butter Mochi (10/10): My favorite of the three! Strikes a great balance between the signature bouncy texture of butter mochi and the breadiness of a muffin without being dry or hard at all. Subtle chocolate taste yet just the right amount! Black Sesame Butter Mochi (9.3/10): They really nailed the black sesame flavor! Not overwhelming, seeds added some nice texture. Felt ever so slightly less bouncy than the chocolate mochi, but still great texture. Knocked down based off personal preference, not the quality of the mochi. Ube Butter Mochi (9.2/10): Felt lighter than the black sesame mochi, which was nice! The frosting on top adds sweetness; not sure I really felt the ube flavor come through that clearly, but still a good mochi overall. Knocked down due to personal preference (slightly too sweet, flavor not as easily identifiable), not the quality of the mochi.

I'm so thrilled that we finally have a legit, large market with an incredible selection of vendors right in my backyard (almost literally). The market is the brainchild of my friend and neighbor, Kate, and she's worked tirelessly over the last year putting this thing together. All that hard work has created an incredible addition to our neighborhood. Yesterday I bought lamb chorizo sausage, locally made honey, kale grown by the cutest high school kids ever, organic eggs, hummus, and signed up for a weekly fish CSA. I had to stop myself from buying cheese, cupcakes, chocolate, donuts, and a really cute painting. So many awesome things to buy! Kate & her crew of volunteers have curated a diverse group of vendors with a little something for everyone. You can pretty much get anything you'd need/want from these vendors: The Buckle Farm Foxboro Cheese Co. Great Cape Baking Co.
