Our sky this evening was on fire

The battle cry for any restaurant to be successful is, "Location, Location, Location"! Mita Mary Boat Club at The St. Regis Hotel here in Punta Mita certainly has that. This location could be the most beautiful stretch of beachfront land I've ever seen, outside of Caan harbor in the south of France; it is breathtaking. Mita Mary restaurant is facing west which allows it to have some of the most outlandish sunsets you can imagine. Yes, the location was extraordinary, but besides the ambiance, the service and food, the attention to details was out of this world! Then I asked myself, how can a restaurant, on the sand, where you can wear shorts and a tee shirt be so elegant? I couldn't figure it out, but it certainly was. Now let me break down what happened to me culinarily: * I had one of the best Beefeater martini's of my life. It was so good, that this chugger (me) sipped this beauty for almost 30 minutes. That's how good this cocktail was. * The Caesar Salad I had was magnificent * My entree of suckling pig was the best rendition of this approach to pork I've ever experienced * Our Mexican Cabernet was ever so good I sipped it as gingerly as my martini * Our three desserts were a fitting end to this impressive full bodyed dinner An evening this good happens - rarely! When you recognize and acknowledge all the moving parts it took make this all happen, all you can do is just say - Thank You.

Do yourself a favor and just start with the Seafood Platter. No need for app's, other entrees just dive in. Our first meal after arriving in Mexico and well worth it. Two gigantic lobsters, huge prawns, big chunks of grilled sea bass. This was fantastic. And the ambiance on the water is out of this world.

Combo review of Mita Mary and the St. Regis Friday Beach BBQ. MM is a great, chill, beachfront dining option. The food is delicious, albeit pretty simple, and the service is of course outstanding, being the St. Regis. Highly recommend the fish tacos and the catch of the day. Kick off those shoes and get your toes into the sand! Oh, and of course enjoy the ridiculous sunset views. The Beach BBQ is simply not to be missed. Get a reservation through your butler and show up both hungry and ready to have fun with your fellow travelers. The food is served in more than ample portions, from giant prawns to pieces of fish, huge cuts of prime rib (which our server mistakenly described as rib eye), ribs, chicken, salads (3 kinds), and delicious spicy sausages. Drinks are included and refills flow readily. The desserts were enough to complete the food coma. That coconut pie is a thing of dreams.

Mita Mary is probably the most reasonably priced location at St. Regis and offers more casual style dining. It is right on the beach so you get absolutely stunning views at sunset. The menu is mostly seafood, all of which are supposedly fresh. Now, I disagree with the views that say the food here is terrible. However, I will say that the food here is inconsistent. Our first dinner at Mita Mary was incredible. We had the octopus and it literally one of the best I've ever had in my life, and I've tried octopus, red snapper tacos, ceviche, and I think the guacamole. All of them were delicious. The octopus was actually one of the best I've ever had, and I tried octopus in more than just a handful of countries. The red snapper tacos had plenty of fish in them and the combination of fish and sauce and greens in the taco were beautiful, textures were right, and the taste was perfect. The ceviche was perfection. Unlike other reviewers I thought it was plenty of food for a reasonable price but I think the definition of plenty can be subjective. Our second dinner at Mita Mary was nothing like our first dinner. The octopus wasn't cooked right and was chewy, the scallops tasted bland, were stringy and chewy and I highly doubt they were fresh. Still some of the tacos we ordered tasted good but the amount of fish in each was slightly less than our first time here. However, the ceviche still tasted incredible. So in short, I think your experience at this place really just depends on what day you eat there, which is not what you want from a restaurant in a hotel like St. Regis... I'm still giving them 4 stars because I do think the potential is there and I would've given it 5 stars had we not been there a second night. They just need to be more consistent with their flavors and quality of the dishes they serve, and they need to be on top of their game every night instead of just on some nights.

Great spot on the beach for lunch and dinner. I never had dinner here but lunch was great. All kinds of tacos. I was told dinner is a totally different experience it looked like it. Everything was fresh, made in front of you and the servers were just awesome.

The quality of food and the setting of the restaurant are amazing. The service was also excellent. We had this on our last night of our trip and are happy that we ended on such a great note. The chicken tacos are amazing. The only thing I'd note is that we went here after seeing the pictures of the menu and wanted a cheaper meal as we had been racking up the expenses over the week....but the portions are very small so plan on ordering 2 per person. I had 4 tacos (2 orders) and it was a good amount. In that regard, it added up quick.

Adult beverage made with fresh passion fruit. Delicious!

Of all the restaurants between Four Seasons and Sr.Regis, this was my favorite. I loved being on the beach, the laid-back vibe, fantastic fresh ingredients, drinks made from real fruit, and service. A special shout-out to Jovany, who was my favorite waiter! He remembered details I didn't expect anyone to... it made all my return visits to the restaurant lovely.

The restaurant is literally a small boat with the tables set on the sand, right off of the beach. It's an amazing ambiance and because the boat is so close everything is caught fresh and served! We sat at a small table with umbrellas to cover incase of any rain (but there wasn't any). You can watch the sunset while you eat and then at night they light up the little lights and creates a completely different scene. I recommend getting a bunch of small things to try and share. The tuna and scallop tostada are delicious. Definitely get the catch of the day because that will be the most delicious and fresh. Ours was Mahi Mahi so we got them in tacos and just kept ordering them. The grilled octopus is also very delicious. They will keep bringing chips and salsa to your table so be cafeful not to fill up on them because the food itself is really good (chips are good too but you can get that anywhere. The price was very reasonable, we ordered a bunch of small plates and it was only ~45 USD for 2 people. We were too full to order dessert after so we'll have to try them next time! Definitely recommend this place - very unique views plus amazing food!!

Soooo gorgeous! Great setting for lunch or dinner. Tacos and food grilled right on the beach. Such a mellow spot away from the hotel and any crowds. Go!

If you like eating right on the sand in front of ocean this is the place for you. Have travelled the world and would say they make the best ceviche. I always go to other Mexican restaurants to try the ceviche and always compare it to this one. Nothing has come close yet. The chips for one are light and fluffy. The ceviche provide the right balance of flavor and spice. They main courses were just okay lobster grilled shrimp Fish. This is a restaurant I would definitely come back but only for the ceviche.

We ordered the bbq for 2. It was a plate with some of everything(beef, ribs, chicken, pork and sausage) and cactus, grilled onions, beans, tortillas and a couple of small quesadillas on the side. Our server spoke excellent English and the place was very comfortable. They have a nice area for kids. Rooftop patio with twinkle lights, friendly and attentive service, and delicious food -- what more can you ask for! We got the guacamole and tuna sashimi as appetizers, and the guacamole (as well as the complimentary salsa) was made right at the table to our exact specifications (mild, please!). We weren't really drinking tonight, so got virgin strawberry daiquiris which were essentially delicious smoothies. I bet the real ones are top notch, too. For mains, I had the chicken fajitas, which came with additional guacamole, rice, and beans in a build-your-own style. My partner had the tomato cream soup, which came with biscuits and had a beautiful presentation. We asked if they served lunch on the way out (they do, opens at 2pm), since we can't wait to come back. We got two churros to go since some of the reviews raved about them -- still too full to eat them but looking forward to it!
