Watermelon margaritas are a must here! We went here 2 times and got the watermelon margarita each time! So light a refreshing and left you feeling refreshed. The burger is to die for, with a light and fluffy bun to compliment. The service is good and attentive and their quesadillas are delicious and enough to split for a snack! Sufi: Mystical forms of Islam or could it be short for "sufficiente" as in you have to be wealthy "enough" to experience dining at this "exotic Mediterranean restaurant." Sufi appears to only be open to residents within Punta Minta Beach Club or guests staying at one of the hotels. So, if you are staying at St. Regis or Four Seasons, this is a place you definitely want to call ahead and book a reservation. You can take a private shuttle and you'll be granted a pass through all the security checkpoints and guards. **If you're not a resident or guest, you'll probably be denied access as this area is a fortress and security may turn you away. Sufi's website is currently not working so you can't find out about the history of Sufi, owners, menu, or chefs. However, if you have a special occasion, birthday, or anniversary, then this would be a place to experience phenomenal and well-executed entrees for a night. The restaurant is isolated, situated by a poolside, cafe, infinity pool, and gorgeous ocean views overlooking Puerta Vallarta at a distance. The servers were cordial and open to specific requests. However, I felt they were a bit undertrained compared to Michelin Star restaurants as they didn't understand how to properly set utensils, or introduce/serve wines. Nevertheless, the experience was still great and all the entrees our group ordered were fantastic. They even have a tasting menu so if you are adventurous and have the appetite, you could experience many items. When you know what you want, Sufi servers will accommodate it or try to make you happy. I ordered their seafood paella as well as the flambe mocha. The portion was a bit small but the taste was fantastic all around. This was probably my favorite restaurant during my stay in Punta Mita. read more

Typically a beach-y vacation and a fancy dining experience are a tricky combination. Sufi breaks the mold and matches both perfectly. Big tables for large parties including kids in the open air under a high thatched roof with glass windscreens all around is pretty much genius and perfect. Incredible food and a solid bar on a high porch overlooking the beach and the beautiful bay. The snapper and duck entrees come strongly recommended by staff and locals, and they do not disappoint. A well-stocked bar and wine collection. Dress is casual and sharp. You're not going to go wrong in a great dress and yet a sport coat would be too much and out of place. Sufi so fine. read more

This is a great spot for lunch or dinner inside the gates of Punta Mita. The views of the Bay of Banderas is top notch. On a clear day you really can't beat the views. During lunch they operate Sufito and they have the best grilled catch of the day with salad. I had the grilled swordfish and salad and watermelon margarita that was excellente! You can only eat at the Four Seasons for so long and there are only a few places within the two resorts in Punta Mita. Besides Bahia at the Four Seasons, this is the only place I can truly recommend. Everyone loved it here. Hop on the golf cart and it's a short five minute ride. As you walk through the entrance...it's magical. The foyer opens up to a pool. To the left is the dining area that overlooks the ocean and the views are breathtaking. There's a dock that extends from the lower beach out to the water. If it's early enough, you can walk all the way down. It's very private. Unlike Si Senor or other restaurants outside of the resort near a beach, sitting next to the water doesn't mean having peddlers or a mariachi band walking right up to you and invading your personal space. Why does it seem like the Catch of The Day at every restaurant in the area include red snapper? Opt for the cod if it's available. The snapper and ceviche looked good too, but I have to say, the cod was by far the best thing I had on my weeklong trip. Excellent food, great service, beautiful spot for any meal! This is a great spot located in Porta Fortuna. If you are staying at the St. Regis they will take you here in a golf cart. Every course had its own flavor and was beautifully presented. Every piece of food on each plate had its own flavor and was cooked with care. I had the steak and I was a little disappointed in that it was tough and difficult to cut and chew. The man at the table next to me ordered it and sent it back because it was too tough. Without any hesitation I saw the waiter take it and bring a new dish. It's difficult to say why the steak was tough. Could it have been just a bad night? Could it be because I am used to a different type of steak when I am home? A person who was the owner/manager or someone who just cared stopped by several times go make sure everything was to my liking. The shrimp risotto was awesome as were the squid. Definitely worth stopping by this place. The view is great. My only complaint is when the sun went down the mosquitos came out in a bad way. read more

I showed up for the reservation time tonight and they said they didn't have it down.Despite having proof, we had to wait 45min past the reservation time for a table. It was embarrassing waiting at the bar all that time! Other guest we staring at us, maybe because we we the only people of color in the restaurant. Shame on you for treating guest so horribly! Our new favourite restaurant in Punta Mita! We came here for dinner, for my husbands birthday and food was just incredible. I just love that the presentation was as impressive as the food. Every dish made to perfection. Great flavours and very tasty. They even make there own bread, which is served hot, so no need to say how awesome that tasted. Lots of servers, so we never had to wait if we wanted something. Everyone was really nice and they even gathered and sing happy birthday song to my husband. Came here last night and had an amazing dinner. Our server was Jaime and he was perfect - explained each dish thoroughly and was very friendly and made excellent recommendations. Portions are enormous. I had the Caesar salad, split the calamari with the bf and had the paella. My boyfriend had the yellowfin tuna and we finished with the chocolate cake. Portions are enormous and everything is so fresh and perfectly seasoned. You HAVE to get the calamari - it's sautéed (not breaded) and so delicious. The paella was light and bursting with seafood and my boyfriends tuna was enormous and delicious and perfectly cooked. One of my favorite restaurants in punta mita. Absolutely the best meal we had while in Punta Mita. We went on our last might because the restaurant that was our favorite was closed. A friend recommended Sufi and sent photos, so we thought we would give it a try. While the location is a bit hidden, it has a relaxed feel, pleasant staff who made us feel like they wanted us to stay, and a fabulous tasting menu. I was nervous about the tasting menu as they are often too much food. My selections for this one was the Tortilla soup, Red Snapper, and a Duck... all were scaled to smaller manageable portions and absolutely fabulous! We really like the table-side coffee preparation, which was truly a site of showmanship as the waiter ignited the flaming coffee and poured it into the cups of coffee while still on fire! An incredible evening. The restaurant is totally open air and you can hear the waves crashing. Very nice view. Service was spot on. Very attentive without being over solicitous. The tortilla soup was some of the best we have tasted. I had the watermelon salad which was very fresh and tasty. I ordered The duck confit with Mole sauce. The mole sauce was very full of flavor and the duck wa perfectly cooked - skin was crispy and meat was tender. Don't order the filet. Don't get me wrong- it was very tasty but there are so many other unique and flavorful dishes on the menu. The red snapper was amazing and the lobster special was enormous. We finished the meal with the warm chocolate cake and a production of a Spanish coffee which was over-the-top. Anyone who has ever been to Sufi had the same advice for me - "get the calamari". We arrived after a heavy rain and it was beautiful - amazing location. You are overlooking the ocean and the set up of the bar / tables was stunning. During cocktails, before appetizers arrived there was a downpour - we had to move. Our table was at the edge and the staff didn't miss s beat. We waited a few, got reseated in the "lounge" area. The place was so beautiful we were fine with the adventure. The calamari was FANTASTIC, sautéed with a squid ink risotto. Don't NOT order this dish. Shrimp with fettuccine was also great - perfectly cooked, butterflied with a simple flavorful pasta. I loved the entire vibe of this place. Nice wine list - we enjoyed a prosecco and Nebbiolo. Not a lot of restaurants in Punta Mita and most are good but this one is not to be missed. read more

Excellent restaurant. It's like a little villa along the coast has its own swimming pool. Views are breathtaking. Bread here is just the best. Food was well prepared and thought of. Price is extremely reasonable. Steaks, lobsters, appetizers, deserts for 6 guest cost less than $200. No way can get that price in the states for this type of meal. Also had their top tequila which wasn't as good as I've had. That was the only thing not impressive with this restaurant. Need higher quality tequila for the clientele that's use to the best. We stayed in Punta Mita for 6 days and Sufi was by far our favorite restaurant! There is only outdoor seating but that's not a big deal and if you're too hot they will bring in extra fans for you. My husband and I ordered 5 different courses of smaller portions so we could try a little of most of their menu and every single dish was delicious. The red snapper was my favorite! They even gave us lemon sorbet between the fish and the duck to cleanse our pallets - which was wonderful! We also spent an afternoon there by the pool and while it was small and there is no beach access, it was still very pretty w an ocean view and the pool is very nice! Highly recommend!! read more

There is good reason as to why everyone gives this place 5 stars, it's truly magical! Taking the golf cart there feels like you're entering a secret oasis. Everything from the entrance to the ambiance is gorgeous! This was definitely our best meal while we were here and we loved all of the other restaurants! Chuey and Jaime waited on us and they couldn't have been kinder or more attentive. We loved hearing about their lives and families and their recommendations for food were spot on! We had the watermelon salad and sautéed shrimp to start and then my husband had the carne asada and I had the red snapper. Everything was prepared perfectly! For dessert we had the warm chocolate cake with vanilla ice cream and the center was cooked to perfection. This restaurant shouldn't be missed! We can't wait to come back! read more

First, the positive. As so many reviewers have mentioned, Sufi sits in an absolutely gorgeous location. We took the golf cart from the St. Regis, and were thrilled when we pulled up to this little hidden oasis. Unfortunately, that's where the enchantment ended for us. We were seated at a waterfront table (yay!) that looked out on a construction site. A big green tarp stretched the width of the beach in front of us. The sand flies were everywhere - crawling over the white tablecloth, into our drinks and on our feet. Then we noticed the little green geckos crawling up the post behind me. If the wildlife didn't get our blood pumping, the heat and humidity surely did. And, no standing fans to cool us down. It took 20 minutes just to get menus, so we ordered a bottle of wine right away since we knew this was going to be a loooong night. The wine was brought to our table with only 1/4 of the label left on the bottle. As for the food, presentation gets an A+, but C- for taste and lack of flavor. Service was slow and not friendly. Not sure if it was an off night (since so many others have raved about Sufi), but we will not go back. There are so many other great options here! read more
