Could be one of the worst, most pointless appointments. He had no idea what we were asking about and I was left with my jaw dropped every time he spoke. Highlight of the appointment was when he "strongly suspected" I have a diagnosis that I've had for 3 years, and mentioned to him 7 minutes prior. If you have complex chronic issues, please be warned, I am only writing this review to warn other to not waste your time or money. I came into see him in horrendous shape with a really complex history and a case I got no answers with from Western Medicine. He gave me false hope and put me on a very generic protocol for Candida and mold. When I got extremely ill on the protocol, he said we should bring in a specialist that works with sensitivities, Neil Nathan. He charged me $300 for an appointment, which was about 10 mins long and the only thing he said on it was let's bring in another doctor. I then met with him and Neil, and he charged $500 even though he just sat at the appointment and did nothing. He then did not follow up with a plan or notes from the visit like he said, I had to ask for it and I received an absolute joke of a "plan." My family was desperate for answers and help and this felt like a complete scam. I've had many bad experiences w doctors due to a complex history but never write reviews, Dr Mitchell was extra awful do to how much money he took from a family clearly desperate for help. There are many other holistic practitioners that can help for far less money who actually take time with you etc , also every time I met with him I just felt pressure to make another appointment. They won't even tell you what is in their IV transfusions.. it's "proprietary ".. so you're not even allowed to know what's going in your body when you're detoxing from mold illness and the transfusions are $450.. I connected with a Naturopathic Doctor for half the cost via Telehealth and 5 months out from a severely toxic mold experience my entire family is 80-100% better.. Dr. Mitchells videos portray him as an expert but when I had my consult it was not much of anything. He was not thorough. He had "One idea" and referred me to covid longhaulers site which was not easy to navigate. He said if I could be seen in NYC he could help me. I told him I could but he didn't elaborate on that much after my remark. He said he would collaborate with my doctor where I currently live but has not done that. I did not get visit notes until I asked three times. He said one medication would help me but would not write a prescription for it. IT was an absolute waste of money and time. His prices are not cheap and insurance does not cover it. I am no further ahead and actually paid $400. His receptionist Marie was maybe his only saving grace in this situation. read more

I've been under Dr. Dean Mitchell's care for over 1.5 years for the allergy drops treatment but I have recently stopped. Let me tell you why! The first year of allergy drops was heavenly. I had no side effects and didn't have to take any allergy medicine during allergy season whatsoever. Mind you, before therapy, I'd be loaded up on Allegra and having at least 2 sinus infections during allergy season just suffering! So I was happy. Then, his nurse started doing something called 'concentrates' to my allergy drops. The 1st time this happened, I had a terrible reaction. I got very sick with stuffy/runny nose, super sore throat, I felt like I had a serious cold. I called and called the office and even left a voicemail about it. The email went unanswered and finally after a week Dr. Mitchell got back to me. In the meantime, I had stopped taking the drops and the next day, my symptoms subsided. Initially he told me to just take one drop a day and see how it goes. I did and I was sick all over again. Then he said he'd make a new batch and send me brand new drops. Everything was back to normal until a few months later, my drops did the same thing again. I called the office and they said they sent me the concentrate. I told them this happened before and I had a bad reaction so they told me to come into the office. I explained what happened to Dr. Mitchell when they send me the concentrate versions but assured me it would take more time for the treatment but would continue to gradually increase the dosage as he'd been doing. Ok cool. Fast forward 3 months later, they sent me that damn concentrate version and after day 3, I was fed up. Allergy symptoms full blown again. I called the office and told them to cancel my $150/month allergy drop prescriptions. They didnt even ask why I was cancelling. Wow. Thanks for showing how much you care! In the end, it's a money office. If the same thing happens 3 times and I've brought it to your attention EVERY TIME, do something different. I just started seeing Dr. Ricki Mitchell at this practice a few months ago and she is phenomenal. I have an auto immune condition and have seen 9 different "specialists", including two functional medicine doctors and no one has been able to help me. She is the first doctor to have read all the charts, labs, and years of history that I bring in to every new doctor appt and she has come up with a carefully thought out plan of attack. She's a no-nonsense, straight forward but caring doctor that has tremendous empathy for her patients and a methodical approach tailored to your healing. We're still early in my treatment and who knows if we'll be able to heal everything but I already am starting to feel better in certain ways and know I have a true advocate and partner in this journey. read more

I was very excited to see Dr Mitchell. I had been seeing different doctors for nearly 8 years. Had gone through different diagnosis, most recent being Fibromyalgia. Spent 20 mins with Doctor giving him medical history etc. My first complaint is that he seemed robotic and unemotional. He did not have appropriate bedside manner. 8 years of running around deserves that! He ended up giving me a candida test and the test was positive. This was fine, but he never spent time explaining why candida was responsible for chronic pain throughout the body. He did say I had allergies, but this was not a new discovery. He said I needed to be on a strict candida diet. However, I failed to understand how this could explain everything and he couldnt tell me! Later I came across a document stating he had his license revoked in 2001 for gross medical negligence. He was accused of fraud, and not prescribing healthy and correct medications. I could not trust him and go back a second time after seeing this. Therefore; I cannot say his treatments do not work. Perhaps, there are redeeming medical qualities about him. The cold demeanor and legal history caused to me to not trust this man. We spoke on the phone to explain his side of the story but his response was "Oh you mean that silly report from 20 years ago?" Medical negligence is not a joke. I found the Mitchell Group online after visiting a series of doctors (allergist, dermatologist, pulmonologist, endocrinologist) who weren't able to figure out what was wrong with me. Dr. Mitchell had me complete a very comprehensive questionnaire. He then took the time to listen to my medical history. Within 15 minutes he managed to figure out exactly what was wrong. Hi. I've struggled with Candida on and off for 10 years. I've seen many many practitioners, spent a lot of money trying to cure it. It's been very emotional and difficult, as most people with Candida can probably attest. Recently I went to a few doctors, Dr. Mitchell was one of them, as another push to finally get healthy. He diagnosed me with Candida (yup!), and then I let him know my struggle with this disease had been incredibly difficult for me, and I was doing the very limits of what was possible for me, and was exploring a few options. I have insurance, but it barely covers anything, and certainly didn't cover this. I let him know and the office know, I have insurance, I gave them the insurance, and it was clear this whole thing wouldn't be covered. Totally fine. I then got a number of tests, which was fine. However, one of the test was for celiac disease, which Dr. Mitchell said I probably didn't have, and he was pretty sure my insurance wouldn't cover, but he said let's do it anyway, just to be sure. He said it was expensive. I said how much. He and the office said they didn't know, and wouldn't until it came back. Ok. It ended up being $750. $750 for a test for something I probably didn't have. I really really wish they would have had some idea of what things were going to cost me. I never would have spent $750 of my money for a test for something I probably didn't have. It was the biggest waste of money in 10 years of spending out of pocket money to try and get healthy. So frustrating, and so sad for me. For a number of reasons I ended up going somewhere else. I was clear about this every step of the way. But, I had already had a bunch of tests done, and I wanted to get them interpreted. Dr. Mitchell's office said the a phone consultation would cost $95-$105 to go over the test results. I asked, how would we know how much? The office said, they had no way of knowing beforehand, and it was based on how long the phone call was. The phone call was less that 15 minutes long, and they charged me $150. I asked them afterwards why it was $150, not $95, and they just said, that was how much it cost for him to go over it and then talk to me on the phone. I did not stay long enough with Dr. Mitchell to be able to attest to whether he is a good or great doctor in this area. Maybe he is. That would trump everything else. He seemed really sincere about wanting to help. However, I just really really regret and wish I had never spend the more than $1200 out of pocket here, for tests and consultation that shed light on nothing, didn't inspire trust and didn't provide a feeling of support, and to feel like the Dr. and the office either didn't know how much things cost, withheld information on costs, or weren't clear on the costs. This is my first yelp, I signed up to post this, because I felt pretty strongly about it. It's not Dr. Mitchell's fault that I've struggled so long, and maybe I didn't give him a chance, but I really was very unsatisfied and it made me feel even more frustrated, sad, and like a waste of money. The other doctor I went with, has made me cry with joy at the support provided, both medical and emotional. Dr. Mitchell seems really great, maybe a chance of payment policy and transparency, and also an understanding of the emotional dimension of candida would have helped for me. read more

I've been going to Dr. Dean Mitchell for about 4 years now, specifically for allergies and candida treatment, and he has been truly wonderful. I've struggled with candida since I was 16 years old, and I've only had varying success in eradicating it, but I am finally in a place where I"m 90% better and I can attribute it to working with Dr. Mitchell. I've been on the candida diet, I've been on the candida drops and I've done other various protocols to strengthen my immune system under his care. I've also been doing allergy drops with him, which I've found to be much more effective than weekly shots, which I did for years, but tended to overload my immune system. He takes time with me and listens, and extends new information to me whenever possible. I've been really grateful for his help and I recommend him highly.
