I miss this place…read more Before it closed to the public, Sedge Garden Nursery was a longtime member of the community, and had a great selection of plants, shrubs and flowers. Everything we've gotten from there (except for the witch hazel that I accidentally stepped on, and 2 azaleas that died after their first winter was too harsh) has flourished, most especially our ginkgo, ram's horn willow, Japanese maples and okame cherry tree. And we still have 6 of the 8 azaleas we got from here. They guaranteed whatever they planted for one year, but we only had them plant one thing. Everything else, Earl and I planted ourselves, and hey, it still worked out. (Obviously if you plant something and don't do what you're supposed to do, it's not guaranteed; this isn't a big box store.) My only beef with this place is because they were understaffed, they hardly ever picked up the phone, and they didn't even really notify customers that they were closing the nursery to the public. It's still unclear to me if they do landscaping, lawn maintenance, or if they pick up their phone now.

When I bought them they look dead but the lady there assured me that they weren't dead but they were dormant and that they would pop back up. I've been watering them every day and have not seen any improvement when I called to ask the lady that helped me answered the phone. I told her about the issue and she told me it was my fault for not watering them correct correctly and they don't replace plants. I will never shop at sedge garden nursery again or recommend them and as a matter of fact I will deter people from using them in the future.

I really like nurseries because they're full of green and tend to blend into the landscape pretty well. This is right on the road and easy to miss if you're not paying attention... but there are many great plants inside. They also have a nature trail! We ended up getting what we need and even asked some questions about future projects. One thing I was looking for was a suitable bush for a hedgerow, and I only had the latin name given by a gardener we met in Africa. The guy knew the plant and had the common name and recommendations. When calling them up they informed me they couldn't do anything because the battery warranty was three months and I was over by a few days when I called. We were in Oak Ridge last weekend and happened to notice their sign advertising bales of pine…read morestraw. My wife called them during the week to verify availability and price and we headed out yesterday. In the spring we had someone deliver and spread 50 bales but with a recent summer project we decided we needed a few more. Their business is one that allows you to drive in and look at the various stones and rocks and they also have a small office building where they have samples of scoop able products such as small rocks, sand, wood chips, etc. Once you have decided on your product you drive out and they load you up. They also have some large rocks/boulders on pallets which were very cool. They confirmed they are available to deliver as well. They do not place the large rocks. Great find and the employees were also helpful and friendly.
