Nice cosy spot for lunch. Kids menus were good and we had the kids burger which was almost identical to my smash burger. Not great for the price but it was okay. Good amount of fries on both plates. Other child had the chicken and waffles. Waffle was under cooked and you could see by the colour so it was definitely doughy and not a nice texture. Chicken on top wasn't deep fried so didn't offer that crunch you want with chicken and waffles, especially with an undercooked waffle. We also had the short rib taco which was tasty and was what my kid ended up eating instead of the waffle. Service was good, server dropped by a few times to ensure we were happy. Overall above average spot. Good selection for kids meals but I'd say there's definitely room for improvement. read more

This was the first time I ate at a restaurant and I quite enjoyed the experience! I ordered the Meatloaf and a virgin Strawberry Basil Lemonade. Meatloaf: I liked how the meatloaf was seasoned; it reminded me of a well done meatball. I also really liked the corn, but I am bias here because it's my favourite vegetable! The potatoes, however, I wasn't a fan off because I thought the blue cheese was a bit overpowering. BUT if you're a fan of blue cheese, you'll really enjoy it! Portion wise, it was definitely enough to get me full, and I didn't eat most of the potatoes. Not so sure how to approach this one. The food was amazing, the drinks were good. The service.... Not so much. 1. Took a long time to get service 2. Didn't get quality checked for our food until the last couple bites. 3. My drink spilt and they cleaned the floor up but did not offer me any napkins, replacement drink or anything... not to mention they just brought the debit machine to settle up. So a bunch of friends decided to drive up to Kamloops to celebrate a girlfriend's birthday since it was her first birthday weekend away from us and of course, no birthday is complete without a dinner celebration. After looking through all the restaurants in downtown Kamloops, we settled with this place. Not sure if it's just the standard one has after living in Vancouver for so long but this was quite a disappointing dinner. The place was full on a Saturday night (which is a good sign) but aside from that, everything was under par. We were a little overwhelmed with the choices we had with their big dinner menu but upon deciding, we quickly ordered and that's how the night pretty much went downhill from there. Food took over 30 minutes to come. Understandable that they were busy but we ordered some small appies as well and those were presented at the same time as our table of entrees. Having so much down time, there was ample time to survey the tables around us which quickly teaches you the lesson to look away since there was dinner buns on the floors of tables where customers sat, tables of uncleared dishes and more tables of people who are also waiting for their food. When food arrived, we were starving at this point and quickly dug in but there was something lacking about the flavours of it. Both the tacos and spaghetti that I got felt quite overpriced for the quality of food I was getting. The spaghetti lacked flavor despite it's colorful presentation. There was no kick to it and the spaghetti looked liked it was only tossed around in light tomato sauce as opposed to the thick tomato paste one would assume. And the tacos would be something I definitely not recommend. I split one with a friend; they took one bite and didn't finish the rest and I realized why. Although the taco came out at the same time as the spaghetti, the tortilla was cold, dry and tough. The meat was extremely dry and chewy. There was absolutely nothing Korean about those tacos except for the fact that they perhaps used veggies that Koreans might eat. Definitely a very disappointing night out to celebrate a birthday. I'm sure there are better places you can go to that are a little bit up to par. read more

Just driving through Kamloops on a long weekend and needed some caffeine injection and chow. Found "MK" along Victoria which seems to be the hip area of Kamloops. It was a beautiful, sunny and warm day with a cool breeze and although the outdoor tables seem inviting, we chose to sit inside in their cozy dining room. It seems like a gastropub you'd see in Vancouver with the dark wood, cushiony seating and modern chandeliers. We were warmly greeted and sat down in one of their many spacious booths. Our waitress brought us our drink orders right away: orange juice in jam jars and amazing deep, dark, bold coffee - perfect for sitting around and enjoying a lazy hazy Sunday. I decided to order the meatloaf and eggs for brunch to add to my comfort Sunday. I was a bit disappointed when my plate arrived. The meatloaf was miniscule and it took me awhile to realize the flat disk on my plate is a 'Southern biscuit'. On the plus side, I like it when restaurants grill the open ends of the meatloaf but on the negative side, it was lacking flavour on its own so it had to be eaten with the house made ketchup which tasted a lot like store bought ketchup. On the other hand, my free range scrambled eggs were cooked well, soft and creamy. Their smashed potaoes were also good, crispy and still soft and sweet on the inside. The biscuit was dense and flat and a major disappointment. Great atmosphere, service and coffee but the food was meh at best. read more

This is a tough one cause the food was outstanding but the service terrible. Very slow, bordering on rude, and it was the manager waiting on us! We've eaten here before and it's always been a good experience, however this particular night was different. I know we all have our days, or maybe they were short staffed, but the service was the worst we've experienced. We had the short ribs and even though we waited over an hour for the meal to arrive it was worth it. soooo tasty! The food and service here are amazing. I'm in town working and eaten here three times. My only negative, was my fault. I asked for the little cheeseburger a bit more cooked. It was dry. That one is mostly on me. The classic cheeseburger, amazing super juicy and balanced. The fresh bun and the house made patty. In my top ten burgers. The happy hour 4$ tacos were bang on. The pulled chicken was a beautiful balance of spicy and sweet with the fresh salsa. The prawn taco was good not great. Crispy chicken and waffles, had a unique twist. Overall great experience! The reviews seemed mostly good but recent reviews made me feel nervous that it wouldn't be the local and original cuisine we were hoping for while in Kamloops. Our waitress Kielie was phenomenal. She was so kind and provided great service. You don't come across waitresses like that very often! Our food came so quickly, we were so impressed!! The food was delicious, especially our calamari and carrot cake. My husband loves his burger but I was a little underwhelmed with my Cobb Salad. I think if they were to present the meal more appropriately (such as in a wide brimmed bowl instead of plate), add more diverse greens instead of just lettuce, and add more sensational vegetables such as green onion and corn it would have been much better! So so. Had the curry, very average as Curry's go. Nothing really special, trying to hipify it with kale? Didn't work. Not enough curry in it, rice was dry and not really edible. Pretty easy dish to get right and as margins go, it's a money pit. We had the flat bread as a starter and it was pretty good. The service is good and the servers are very up and happy. Had a fantastic dinner at this local gastro diner. Service was casual but professional. Food was very well done. The pricing was a bit more than earl's but the quality and care in the food more than made up for it. From salads to desserts everything had a nice edge to it. Bacon wrapped dates were a wonderful surprise to start our dinner. I'll start off by saying that I understand that every restaurant has its off-days. I dined here with some friends and parents after graduation. She made reservations, but it didn't seem like she had to because the place was pretty dead. The hostess was friendly, seated us in a centre booth and gave us ample time to select out meals and drinks for the night. When time came to order, we asked for a plate of "devils on horseback" or bacon-wrapped dates to start. When they arrived, we cleared the plate within seconds, and were disappointed that we didn't order more, but this just left us drooling in anticipation for our main courses. For our mains, we had ordered: -Bison Ribeye -Striploin -Tuna -Sablefish -Peri-Peri Chicken ...And we all had the same complaint! Either severely under or over salted. Someone in the kitchen was surely having an off day. The ribeye was cooked to perfection but seasoned so poorly that it tasted like eating rubber. The striploin virtually similar. The sablefish was overcooked, but having not tasted it before, the person ordering it ate it anyway. My peri-peri chicken was far from spicy and instead loaded with salt! I couldn't eat even half and took the rest home to try to salvage. The tuna, in the end was the only acceptable dish and we pecked at my friends plate all night in an effort to satisfy our hunger. By the middle of our meal, the place had gotten quite busy, so we did not see the waitress until finally flagging her down to pay the bill. Next the Kitchen large salad with added sautéed mushrooms a meal itself (add the mushrooms to anything they are wonderful, melt in your mouth!) The Sweet Potato Gnocchi with Sausage, Dried Apricots and Braised Kale, so good we ordered two! The Watermelon Mint Cooler w/ Vodka was soooooogooood. I'm a big fan of Mittz Kitchen. It's one of the few places in Kamloops that I could easily see transported to a bigger city like Calgary or Vancouver. My only issue is that they don't have any vegetarian entrees. Even the risotto, which is usually the token vegetarian dish at most restaurants, contains chicken. From reading other reviews, it sounds like they might offer a veggie burger but it isn't listed on their menu. They do however have some great appetizers so it isn't hard to come up with a full meal. The last time I went I had a small kitchen salad with the house made goat cheese and cauliflower ravioli. Deeeeelicious. The tomato sauce on the ravioli is nice and tangy. While I love their food, my favourite parts about Mittz are their drinks and desserts. I've never been disappointed. The lemon tiramisu and the chocolate quinoa cake are heavenly. As for drinks, my favourite would have to be the maple bourbon smash. I've tried making it at home but it just doesn't quite taste right. If you're looking for something softer, I recommend the house made ginger beer. It's nice and spicy without overdoing it. Yum! read more

The best food I've ever had in Kamloops! We had intended to go to a close by Mexican place but they were closed at 4pm. We checked the reviews for this place and gave it a try. There were 4 of us and the only complaints were small ones: the Caesar was ordinary and over dressed, the au jus was ok, the veggie burger was crumbly ( aren't they all?) I had the beef ragu on pappardelle and it was amazing! I loved every bite. The other meals were grilled chicken sandwich ( yummy) brisket sandwich ( really good, the brisket was so tender) and the veggie burger( so good) We were all super impressed that a Vancouver quality restaurant exists in Kamloops read more
