The place was fairly empty when we got here just close to 5 pm. It got busier after 530 pm and full house by 6 pm. I guessed either this place was good or there ain't much options in Salmon Arm. Why two stars? The food was not that good and the tables were quite tight. People kept bumping my chair when they walked behind me. Not sure why they could not walk on the other side of our table which didn't have anyone sitting there. It was quite annoying. The service could also be better. Our water glasses were not topped up unless we flagged down our server. I had the halibut burger which sounded amazing in the description. Poached in white wine and served with lime aioli. Unfortunately the fish was on the dry side and I barely discerned any wine at all. The saving grace was the yam fries which I upgraded for 1/2 Caesar salad and 1/2 yam fries at $3 more. Those were good. Very small portion of the Caesar salad though. My travel partner didn't like the fried chicken burger at all. The chicken was hard and dry. The server gave extra chipotle Mayo sauce but it didn't help much. Popeyes chicken burger was way better. Overall this was quite a disappointing meal. Stopped by on a day trip to Salmon Arm. Our delightful server was friendly and helpful. I had a veggie Swiss burger with onion rings and a spicy pineapple margarita. Dec.2025 Chicken burger and fries; small piece of chicken average at best made the chicken look larger by deep frying, may have been a 1/4 of a breast, almost paper thin. Added fries to the burger. The fries were small pieces of the potato over cooked, great if you like chunky piece but some I couldn't even put a fork. Service was good not great, it seemed like, get in get out. read more

I had a great experience at the Barley Station. When I first went there, I had the Bavarian Schnitzel with steamed vegetables and mashed potatoes with mushroom gravy. Everything was delicious, even the vegetables. I was even obliged to buy a 6-pack of their Bushwacker Brown Ale. I also had their South African-Spiced Sausage that I also found piquant. Judging from the menu, they change up their lunch and dinner choices every once in a while, which I like from a restaurant. I definitely recommend the Barley Station to eat at. read more

I love the sticky toffee pudding, it is delicious!! The service is hit or miss, really depends on who's working but most are good and always very friendly. The restaurant is nice but the tables are a little close to each other which can make it harder to move through. I have enjoyed the chicken burger before but most of the time it is over cooked, the free bowl is good but you should always ask for extra sauce no matter what you order. The appetizers have never been disappointing here or the desserts and the fact that we have very minimal options in salmon arm for edible food. read more

This place was hopping when we went in, and also celebrating Oktoberfest, which was fun. They are part of the BC craft brew tour. They had a special menu for the season from which I ordered the Black Forest Cake and my friend ordered the schnitzel, which was amazing. I should have already known I don't actually like Black Forest Cake that much - it was kind of bland but that's not the fault of the restaurant; it's just the way I've always found it. I ordered the lamb gyro, which was delicious. I also ordered one of their craft brews (Shuswap Lake Brewing Co) and it was the best light craft brew I've ever had. I'm not a beer person so just having a nice light beer without too much spice might not mean much to some but was great for me. Service was fast and friendly. read more

Had dinner here on our way through to Kamloops. First off, the service and lively atmosphere are notably pleasant - and clearly part of the reason for this place's popularity. The other reason is obviously the beer. I had the IPA and my partner had the pale ale and although both were good, the Pale Ale was definitely better and I'd get that one again if we ever came back through. For food, my partner ordered the chowder as a couple of other people had mentioned it in the reviews and it looked like it was a house specialty. The flavour was good but unfortunately the broth had split. I'd have sent it back and got something else but my partner ate it anyway which I guess is a testament to how good the flavour really was. I had the vegetarian Glory Bowl and its was basic but very tasty and was a perfect road trip meal (i.e., fresh and not too heavy). Also for anyone else who doesn't like apple or, like me, believes fruit has no place in savoury dishes, the apple is sliced so very easy to eat around. read more

It's wonderful to find a GF-friendly eatery on a road trip. When the fare is excellent, so much the better! Lots of GF (referred to as gluten wise as it's not a dedicated GF establishment) options on a separate menu. I had the Chicken Guacamole burger on a toasted GF bun. It was really outstanding! This restaurant was a favorite. Today however during a slow dinner period (4:30 pm) I ordered the chicken schnitzel. Arrived starving, left hungry. The meal had hot spots and cold spots throughout the meal . I had it packaged up to take home. An hours drive away. I do not like microwaved food so when I explained the problem I requested it packaged up rather than microwaved as they planned. Eating out is an expensive treat and this was overwhelming disappointing. It truly seems the normal since Covid. On another note, service is always good even when tourist season busy. read more

Randomly stumbled into this restaurant for lunch as we went through Salmon Arm. The pub has a huge dining room inside and a big bar. There were also lots of tv screens, would be good for watching sports. We ordered the calamari and steak. The food was solid, and flavours on point. We had a lovely lunch at Barley Station. We ate here a few years ago but did not think it was anything special at that time. We were driving through Salmon Arm and could not find anything else that appealed to us so we decided to try Barley Station again. I'm glad we did. Our experience was much better than our first time here. There is hand sanitizer as you enter and after you sanitize your hands you can enter and take a seat. The seats are all spaced for social distancing. Our server was very good. My husband had a lemonade to drink. For our lunch we shared a pasta with Cajun chicken, mushrooms, and red onion in a spicy cream sauce. It was served with a slice of garlic bread. It was a generous portion and nicely spiced. We looked up a place to eat in Salmon Arm and Barley Station came up as the best place. We had the Haksap Bison Burger with fries and a side salad split between my sister and I. We understand great food, we make it and seek it out when we travel, and this time we felt Barley Station was average. The burger was a smidge dry and fries were not amazing as we know French fries. I ordered the honey lavender cider and it was excellent; fairly light and not too sweet, very refreshing. I have enjoyed every time I've come in. I've had a birthday, a wedding party I've attended, and several friend get togethers. Have never been disapointed, but I noticed the deepfried pickles have a different dip then last year, and it doesn't have the same kick. Kinda disapointing, but their other food is always decent. Update: As I've gotten older, the decline in quality certainly is there. Staff are kind, certainly liked our waitress recently, but the food is mediocre and the accoustics suck really bad inside. OMG - Look at how pretty this Tuna Bowl is and sooo yummy. The layers of flavor, generous portion of Tuna, and combined over perfect rice, this new menu item should be a huge hit. I just LOVE this place! Thank you Kat and Jacob for your great service! We are so glad we went, it was a highlight of our trip last week. Everything here is so special! The in-house brewed beer is a must try! They offer sample size so you can taste all 6 flavours. The home made Haskap Jam is so good and fresh. The food we had was so delicious: Dry Ribs, Seafood Chowder, Halibut Burger, Station Burger, Braised Short Rib Beef, Malaysia Red Curry. Will definitely come back when we finish the beers and the jam =D read more

Located at a major intersection, this establishment is probably the single most beautiful experience I had in town. Parking is available in 2 large lots behind the building. One of them isn't paved though. The restaurant really keeps it classy, with the new but vintage looking atmosphere. A few TVs showed various sporting events, but the screens (other than 1 TV) weren't so large as to turn the place into a sports bar. More of a good place to have a nice quiet chat over good food and drink. If I didn't have a meal lined up, I would've tried the food here. Looking around the neighbouring tables, the food look and smelled delicious. Being a craft beer place, the beer is made in house. They have a paddle, which is 5 small (maybe 3oz) glasses, placed on a mat. This is helpful as it's often hard to remember what one is drinking. All of them were pretty decent, though the special mention goes to the Talking Dog wit beer. Orange and coriander is a winning combo. Tangy and spicy. They sell glass growlers here, but you don't want that. Go for the (limited edition) souvenir stainless steel "mini-keg" growler instead. The website lists it as for those those who "just [need] to feel extra special", and I most definitely did feel special when dropping the $37 (about $50 all in after fill) for this thing. This thing is absolutely AWESOME. It looks smaller than the glass growlers, but apparently it holds the same 1.9L (64oz) as the glass ones, and the long neck means it should be interchangeable with other craft beer places. See photo. I can go to sleep hugging this thing. I honestly think this place is THE one thing to visit in Salmon Arm. Highly recommended. read more

Good food, good beer, good over and above, service, whats not to like. Went on a Thursday night to watch the first football game of the season. I had the Barley Station Glory Bowl - Quinoa, grated carrots, grated beets, chickpeas, feta, roasted almonds with spinach, house made tangy tahini dressing, and garlic bread. It was a great size? But man was it dry. Needed double the dressing. My mouth was a desert. Would have been great if a server had bothered to come back at all, or acknowledge me when I politely tried to get their attention. They do some cool stuff with Kombucha though. read more

In Salmon Arm on vacation from Michigan and went to the Barley Station Brew Pub after researching here on YELP and TripAdvisor. It was busy with great atmosphere. Ordered the sampler beer flight for me and local Red wine for my wife. I had the burger special which was a Grilled Chicken Chowmein burger .... it was awesome. Grilled chicken breast on chowmein noodles with cabbage and a phenomenal sauce. If your in Salmon Arm or passing through, highly recommend the Barley. Our first time here with a group of friends and wow! What a great place! The lobster Mac n cheese was a hit as was the seafood linguini and steak sandwich. Our server, Jakob was excellent and super attentive. You have to try the haskap mohito and the tall caesar. The hubs and I were venturing out to tour around Saon Arm and landed in this pub for early dinner. Ambience: lively pub with a lot of customers. We were greeted and Customer service: it is a pub and we sat ourselves. I was on a picky mood for some reason and after trying a sample of wit beer and the pale ale, I settled with water. The hubs tried the blonde ale and settled for the Caesars (Sunday special - $5.50). Perhaps it is because we tour around Portland, OR's and Vancouver, BC's craft brew scene so much that we found their beer a little too common? Anyways, the server was courteous and obliged our wishes. The Caesars was really heavy on the clamato and lacking other flavours. As for ordering food: I ordered the spicy buffalo chicken burger with tossed salad with cranberry lemon herb dressing. The hubs ordered Moroccan lamb burger with seafood chowder. Kitchen service: ordered at 5:55pm. The food arrived at 6:13pm. Taste: the buffalo chicken burger ($14) was kind of disappointing. It is too salty. The tossed salad is standard. The Moroccan lamb burger ($15) was truly outstanding. It was paired nicely with the tzatziki, roasted pepper and other ingredients. The seafood chowder was good but was hitting more on the cream not than the seafood note. Portion: standard portions. Price: burgers are reasonable. The salad entrees and entrees we found were quite expensive. Overall: food - 3.5/5, service - 5/5, drinks - 2/5. We will come back again for the lamb burger and pretty good service if we happen to be around the area. read more

Went here for the first time last weekend. I ordered the station house blonde ale which was decent but I think I'll try a different beer next time I visit. My friend and I split the spinach artichoke dip and I ordered the beef dip with fries. The spinach artichoke was REALLY good. It was served with little pita slices and nachos and the dip had big chunks of artichoke, so delicious. The beef dip sandwich was good, generous helping of beef with Armstrong cheese and mushrooms. But the fries were over done , super crunchy and just on the verge on burnt tasting. My friend, who's a regular there, said this was unusual so hopefully it was just a one off bad batch of fries. All in all , there were lots of other options on the menu I'd love to try so I'm definitely going back next time I'm in SA! read more

Really friendly and accommodating staff on a busy night with good food made this experience five star. Went out for a friend's birthday and saw that it was a busy Friday night but gave it a shot. Staff repeatedly checked in - each with a smile even though obviously very busy - while we waited for a table and seated us quickly once one became available. The drinks were very good and there were food choices even for a vegan. The Barley Station Glory Bowl without feta and added guacamole was excellent. As a grad trip, I was heading towards Glacier National Park back in June, partly because I've never been, and partly because I wanted to make use of the free Canada 150 parks passes. I came across this place as I looked up places to visit and places to eat after arriving at the hotel, and the Barley Station was one of the first places that came up, partly due to the positive reviews, and partly due to it's proximity to my hotel. I drove over ordered their "Bushwacker Brown Ale" and on the recommendation of my awesome waitress, the Moroccan Lamb Burger... served on naan bread. I have to hand it to them, the Barley Station offers hefty portions. I consider myself as someone with a monstrous appetite, and I found that I still had to struggle to clear my plate. The Morrocan Lamb Burger was a good recommendation, and one that surprised me. The lamb was mildly sweet, and had a very unique fragrance from the seasoning which seems to work in it's favour. The lamb was tender and and quite juicy, and the beer complemented it quite well. One criticism I do have for the lamb burger though, is that as I went through it, it seemed increasingly necessary for me to eat it with a fork and knife as there was a lot of sauce, and lamb, but not nearly enough naan to hold it all. I'd personally have been okay with a lot less lamb, but that opinion probably won't sit in well with the regulars. The Barley Station also offers a selection of Kombucha. I wanted to try the ginger flavoured one, but they ran out that day, so as per the server's recommendation, I went with the pomegranate Kombucha. That too, was great. It was fizzy, fruity, mildly acidic, and they managed to get the sweetness just right. I wanted to have another, but it turns out I had the last batch of the day (or week?), and so settled with the blackcurrant instead. While the Blackcurrant Kombucha was also good, I feel that that one was a little too sweet, and surprisingly, didn't seem as fizzy as the other (maybe it has something to do with how it didn't seem as sour as the pomegranate one). If I swing by Salmon Arm again, I'd definitely come again. The food and service was great, and the drinks were pretty awesome too. read more
