Was a fun time and I've been dreaming of this experience my whole life since I saw pottery in that "Ghost" movie previews and I never saw the movie I was too young. So I got to have free play with the clay and enjoyed sculpting a couple mugs and tray. I had to leave it with the store for a week until it cooks in the kilm. Come back and paint/glaze the pottery. In my opinion, the classes are a bit on the pricey side, but they do run sales and specials on occasion. Love, Love, Love this place. I took my boyfriend here as a surprise birthday gift for him (moreso me; hahaha). However he enjoyed it so that's all that matters. I have been wanting to come here for some time but never got the chance and then of course Covid (major eye roll). From calling to make the appointment to the day of arrival everything was smooth. I called inquired about classes, paid and waited since I booked it week in advance. Yes I am one of those people. When we got there both of the ladies that were present was awesome and very helpful throughout the 2 hours. My only suggestion would be to somehow figure out how to shorten the "tutorial" aspect of the 2 hours. That portion in and of itself almost an hour and we weren't able to fully enjoy and be able to make 3 figures out of the 3 clay balls that we were given. I friend of mine took me here as a birthday gift. There is no trouble finding free parking in front of the entrance. It was our first experience with mosaics and we had fun. The "teacher" was knowledgeable, pleasant, and most of all super helpful. I recommend anyone without experience to start with a small piece because it took me the entire length of session- 3 hrs- to complete my lizard. I want to return to do the glass painting. She didn't tell us what classes they offer but we noticed the glass pieces and asked about it. There is also a room to make ceramics. My only regret is not having brought a bottle of wine , but we were told we could. So, we will be all set next visit. read more

I went to this place last June as an activity hosted by a Meetup group I'm in. it took up two Saturdays, one to work on the clay and the second one to paint the already-baked pieces. I do enjoy arts and crafts but I'm not exactly good at them, so I went expecting to just make a mess and enjoy a couple of mornings with some nice, fun people doing something different. Surprisingly, the class is nice and clumsiness-proof. In the first class we had fun, learned how to do mugs and vases and plates (though hand-made, basic classes don't teach how to use the wheel, because it needs more practice to dominate it). They give you the pointers on how to do stuff and then let you create whatever you want, give you help if you need it, or suggestions when pertinent, then they take the pieces and you go home while they get their turn in the oven. Next scheduled weekend, you come back, they instruct you about the paints and the glazes and how to apply all of it to the pieces, and you decorate your pieces as you like, leave them again for the paint to be also baked. They either call you or email you (according to your preferences) to tell you the pieces are ready, and then you can enjoy using (or decorating your home) with your own creations. We went with a groupon. The groupon gets you a lesson. If you want to make something, you have to pay extra. If you want to paint it, if you have to pay extra again. Everything is a la carte. We chose to make a small cup $10 and a soap dish $5. You work at your own pace and the instructor comes around to assist you. He did model how to make a cup so many people chose to do that. There were 8 of us in the class. You come back in two weeks to pick up your item and then at that time you can paint it. The studio has space for you to rent and you can use the studio by the hour which includes all of the tools. They offer other classes : paint a wine glass, pottery spinning, etc. There was parking along the street out front. They accept cash and credit cards. Overall, I thought the class could have been better organized with the instruction. If you are creative and like to work independenttly it is a good class. read more

Friends and I bought a Groupon to the mosaics class. It was like $14 but when you get there, you have to pay additional for the materials that you use. It will cost more the bigger project you choose: I made a mirror frame for $20, my friends made coasters for $5 each, and there are projects in between. The class takes 3 hours. We had a nice young lady who taught us (I forgot her name). There are a few examples of completed projects and she passed around printed pictures of mosaics, but there are no templates or step by steps to follow...bring your creativity! You gather the tiles you want to use and are instructed on how to use the tools. Our instructor is really energetic and interactive, and she kept us on track with time. You then are taught how to grout your art, and she wrapped up our pieces to go. She was also really helpful finding specific supplies around the shop, like if we needed a specific color tile, and she was clear in explaining steps or clarifying for us when we got lost. The shop itself can hold 3 separate classes at once. It may get loud with the different crafts going on and instructors talking. Other reviews say that the other instructors weren't engaging or critical in their classes. I could overhear the class at the tables next to ours and the instructor did seem to be rambling about other subjects instead of instructing (ok, my friend and I started eavesdropping). The classes at MIY are more complex than the usual step-by-step painting class. I think their classes are more adult-oriented. My hands hurt breaking the tiles for the mosaic, so I think that younger kids will need adult supervision if you bring them for crafts other than painting. read more

Took the mosaics class at this studio, and it was excellent. It was relaxing and the instructor, Jennifer, was wonderful. All of our creations came out great. The only one complaint is that I used a Groupon, and the deal was a little misleading. You need to purchase a base to put your mosaics on, and I didn't think it was required. I thought, that if you wanted to upgrade your piece, you can purchase an upgraded base. The kitty base cost $18. So it ended up costing $30.50 plus tax. It is still a great deal, but I wish it was more forthcoming. read more

Found this place through Groupon. Located on the side of the road across from street parking, this little studio is hidden along a row of doors. Inside, it's like entering another world. The hustle and bustle of the world seems to disappear as you tap into the creativity in your mind. This was my first time taking a Mosaic class. I was nervous going in cause I didn't want to end up with broken class all over my fingers. I'm very clumsy. My instructor Andy was a funny and friendly guy who went through our instructions and then gave us some tips on how to cut the glass. He proceeded to go over some safety tips then led us to pick our projects. The project you choose is not included in the cost of the Groupon. There are many different options ranging from $5-$25. I choose a square coaster. Then you pick the glass colors you want. Each of us had a toolkit. It included some heavy duty tweezers, a glass cutting device that etches in the glass and a form of pliers to snap the glass where you sliced the line. There's so a tube device that lets you scissor cut the glass much faster and effectively. It wasn't difficult and I thought it was quite relaxing. After you glue on all your glass pieces, you grout the whole thing. Clean off the grout with a sponge and some water. Then voila, you're done. It will look muddy for a day but Andy taught us to just wipe it down either newspaper the next day and it'll be fine. Fun way to spend 3 hours with your mom or your friends!! read more

We called before going after driving to another studio that had a sign that said permanently closed. The women on the other end of the phone was so welcoming and warm, we ran right over. ( she even gave instructions on the best place to park hassle free) Once we got there we were welcomed with open arms. The fees where explained upfront ( no hidden fees at all, what you see is what you pay) The employees were so encouraging with my 5 year olds painting! It was so sweet! We purchased a Groupon for the mosaics class with Andy. From our initial encounter, we found him to be off-putting. His instruction was disjointed and disorganized. He offered no constructive guidance. When he interacted with 2 of the 9 students, his comments were critical. He never even looked at the other 7 student's projects.
