Why, why, why can't all contractors be as professional and efficient as Matt and his team?!?! We got a small kitchenette from Ikea and I immediately yelped an installer (as it'll be 3 times as much with the Ikea installers...) and found Matt and his team. We had a few delays with our remodel but Matt was super patient in working with us and rescheduled (many times) as we needed. Dave and Alex arrived on time at 8am on the day of installation and, boy, they meant business. They quickly unloaded all of their tools and set up shop, and within 30 minutes were breaking into the boxes. They didn't even need to look at my Ikea packing list, just the Ikea kitchen layout that I had sent to Matt and they knew exactly what to do. I can't even stress enough, that Matt is the guy you need to call if you are getting an IKEA kitchen. Don't even consider anyone else. When the IKEA rep asks you if you want installation, say, "Nah, it's OK, I'm going to forward my plans to Mjlarrabee." Although he is based in the LA Area, he will take on a job in South OC (I Happened to be in Irvine, and he was able to get to me, and have my kitchen installed). I highly recommend Mjlarrabee for installing Ikea cabinets! I used them for my brand new kitchen remodel and they exceeded my expectations. They were direct with their pricing, and were able to install my whole kitchen in one day. Unless you're very handy, I don't recommend installing Ikea cabinets by yourself. Sure, you can build the cabinets yourself no problem, but the hard part is putting them up on the wall. They need to be perfectly level, and very few walls are perfectly straight. The guys used their special equipment to make sure that all our stuff was installed perfectly. We had some pipes that got in the way of the cabinets and they were able to drill holes to accommodate them perfectly. They also tell you exactly what pieces you are missing (which is likely to happen) and will come out again to install that at no extra charge. The two guys that came over were incredibly nice as well. Lastly, their prices are much lower than the estimates I got from Ikea. For my kitchen, Ikea quote about 2000. These guys came in at 1375, so over 30% off. I was also able to schedule only a few days out which was amazing. read more

We were able to get a Tuesday appointment, with only a week wait after initially contacting the team. Dave and Carlos were our installers and I was genuinely looking forward to see how their work was going to be due to the high reviews on Yelp. They met and exceeded all expectations. They did an inventory of all boxes, installed our kitchen within 7 hours, and even made suggestions on items to purchase to make the install look even better (we ran straight to ikea so they could perform the work). It was always clear to us that we wanted to use an IKEA kitchen for our full remodel as we liked the design and the value proposition. When it came to choosing a contractor for the kitchen as a whole, literally everyone declined to install the IKEA kitchen as naturally they did not want to install a product they did not make money on. Our handyman would have done it, but said it would likely cost him too much time, thus he would have to charge us a lot more than someone who was more efficient. Ikea quoted $4000 for the install through a third party contractor. Enter MJ Larrabee to the rescue! I was given his number as a "secret tip" known as the "master of all things Ikea install". I contacted Matt, sent him my Ikea home planner file by email, some additional ideas that I had for a "hacked" additional cabinet. He came back with a very reasonable quote much less than half of what Ikea wanted and instructions on what I needed to get to make that additional cabinet work. On the day of the install, Matt arrived with 2 team members, everyone meticulously clean and courteous, they got to work with an incredible speed, precision and an organizational set up that was worthy of an award! The three guys had assembled my kitchen in less than a full day's work and Matt stuck to his estimate to the dollar. Also, it turns out that Matt saved us money in more than one way: Ikea had overprescribed paneling, shelves, toe kicks and the likes. Because Matt and his crew were very efficient in the use of all of the fittings, we ended up being able to return close to $1000 in terms back to Ikea that we did not need and promptly were able to reinvest into interior fittings. It turned out that I fudged some measurements and changes were needed, but Matt was able to clearly explain what I needed to return and buy. He also was able to save me some money by returning items that weren't needed. The finishing touches were what really amazed me. The team made sure that every space and gap was professionally finished. Every drawer and door was square and perfectly aligned. They even installed my custom apron sink. This review is long overdue, but better late than never! In one sentence, I wish I could give them more than 5 stars. So, Here it goes: First time, I called Matt, he was busy and I had to wait for two weeks. So, I called another company on Yelp, but did not get any response. Then, i have searched for ikea-kitchen-installer on Craigslist and found a guy named Erik. He showed up with only a $20/$30 very small drill as his only tool. He was a nice guy, but not really an installer, he was a musician. I started seeing that pantries have got only two legs, mounting brackets being loose on the wall, and when he started making holes for the door handles, which were not aligned, I had to stop him and lost $800 through this engagement. I had to call Matt again. Matt and Alex came and had to unmount, fix, and re-mount everything. When IKEA counter-top guys came to measure for counter-top, they were very impressed with Matt & Alex work. I was sooo happy that I have stopped the Craigslist guy (Erik) and called Matt. read more

Outstanding job, excellent IKEA kitchen cabinet installer. We purchased our IKEA cabinets and went with the installer that IKEA provided. After numerous calls to their installer and reading about the poor reviews on YELP of the IKEA installer, I called and canceled the IKEA service. I learned with other kitchens to only use an installer who is IKEA certified. IKEA cabinets are built differently than other cabinets and even the way they go together is important that it is done right. I searched the Internet, Angies List, and YELP and came up with Matt. After his measurement of my kitchen using lasers, I was hooked. He talked like he knew what he was doing. He immediately gave me some great ideas and I purchased 8 more cabinets (I had already purchased 18 cabinets from IKEA - I returned the ones that he didn't use). Since I have done several kitchens, I thought my design was the best it could be, but Matt proved that it could be even better. I was having measurement problems in trying to center an uninstalled window - Matt came up with the best idea and with his laser tools figured out the cabinet measurements perfectly and now the window is exactly between the cabinets (before the window was installed - amazing!) Matt exceeded my expectations immediately. He arrived promptly and he and one other worked hard, meticulously, and straight through lunch. Matt knows what has to be done and he does it so, so well. He also hung my range hood. Matt's rates are very reasonable, in fact, much better than two other bids that I had also got. I always do heavy research into anything I buy, material or labor. Matt is the best at what he does in Southern California. I have done two other kitchens and he is far superior to their work. I would go with Matt in a heartbeat. The speed and precision with which they worked was like watching a well-rehearsed choreographed dance routine. My contractor and his crew who were on site working on another part of the house literally were awestruck. Here are a few examples of Matt's excellent workmanship and professionalism. We had an odd-size double oven that didn't quite fit the cabinet opening. No problem, Matt customized the drawer underneath and you cannot tell that anything was altered. Filler pieces connecting the cabinets above our coffee bar to a large pantry cabinet are seamless. When they installed a roll front cabinet, it became clear the item was defective. Matt gave me instructions fort the simplest way to get a replacement from Ikea and came back to the house to install it when it arrived, free of charge. It's been six months since the installation and all of my cabinets are still rock solid. Doors close square, drawers and pullouts don't wiggle and the two butcher block counters he installed remain perfectly level.
