These people are scammers! Stay very far away! They will take your furniture, sell it, and never tell you. When you ask about it, they will pretend they have no idea where it is or if it sold. *BEWARE* if you are considering taking your furniture to MK Consignment! My furniture was not on the floor a week after I dropped it off, so I asked if it had been sold. "Nope, we must've moved it to our south store," they told me. So I checked, and it was not at that store either. So I went back and they looked into it - "Oh congrats, it appears everything sold fairly quickly after all." (As if they hadn't just told me nothing had sold, and couldn't really explain what happened). When I went to pick up my check, some of the furniture had mysteriously showed up on the floor unsold. (Huh?! You just told me it all sold, right after you had told me none of it sold?) And the items which they had actually sold in the first day or two went for 50% of the price they told me would be my MINIMUM for the first month. BLATANT RIP OFF! A SLEAZY business run with intent to DEFRAUD sellers, in my humble opinion. If you decide to deal with them, be prepared for some problems. Great store full of amazing furniture. Every style and budget. Some unique pieces! Awesome staff, very friendly and helpful. Great quality furniture! All kinds art too. If your looking for any sort of furniture piece small or giant go by! They take consignments for sellers also in case you have something your looking to sell but don't want to deal with the general public. I really love this place. STAY FAR FAR AWAY! They won't pay you! Sold my late husband's furniture and haven't paid me for 3 months. They give me the run around. Tell me the owner isn't there and no one else can pay. Say he only pays on the 1st but is never there on the 1st. I am starting to believe this Mark guy doesn't even exist. Filed complaint with BBB. Will continue to. Don't do business with them. Buyer beware! I purchased an item at the pressure of their sales person, Gary, who knew we couldn't take the piece of furniture home immediately and he offered to keep it there until we could pick it up. They were certainly willing to take my money but no so willing to refund the money when come to find out they RESOLD the piece knowing it had already been sold once. Dishonest, untrustworthy, and the owner was flat out rude when I requested a refund of the amount paid. read more

If I could give less than one star I would. This place is full of over priced, old, used furniture, but thats not the part that is receiving the low rating, its the customer service. The two mature woman sitting at a dining table as I entered were eager to help and allowed me to look around without badgering me, then when I finished looking I was asked what I thought, I expressed my surprise at higher that usual prices, the sales person became very defensive and wanted to know where I shop, as if it were any of her business. She then proceeded to verbally shame me and insulted me as I left the store. I stopped in to check out what potentially had for couches, bedroom furniture. While walking around, I was rudely spoken to, stating I'll be charged rent for being in store, if I didn't purchase something. I entered into a sales contract for national geographic magazines, have contract in writing, in dec 2. I then paid on the contract with me suppose to pay the rest and pick up magazines today Dec 5. The refused to honor the contract and kicked me out of the store when I refused to sign their more paperwork and asked to speak with a manager. Having to put my Mother in a care home we had several pieces of large furniture that we didn't want to sell on line. We reached out to MK Consignment and they came and picked up a large desk and credenza, large table and hutch and a grandfather clock. We were charged $100 for them to pick up the items, which I thought was fair. The 2nd or 3rd day we were called and asked if we would accept $1500 for the grandfather clock and we said no, $2000 was what Mark priced the clock at. The troll that works their was rude, said things are only worth what someone will pay, DUH! If the clock had been there more than 2 days we may have considered. A day or 2 later we were called and someone was offering $2000 and we accepted. Today when we went in to pick up payment the Troll said $1500. Of course Mark is not there which seems to be a common complaint on reviews. We have started the complaint process with the BBB and also looking to see if we have any legal recourse. These people treat their consignees terribly! I consigned my things with the Woodlawn location, which they unexpectedly closed. I talked to Mark at this (West) location and he said they owed me $25 for June and would "audit" my account to see if my 36 items from the East store were there. I asked for a check for what they owed me, but never got a check. Now they won't answer my calls or if they pick up, Joyce takes a message for Mark. I filed a complaint with the BBB on Aug 1st and they haven't replied to that either. I cannot recommend this business in any way. read more

I asked them to alert me if a certain type of chair came up for sale. I just went there and they had the chair and they hadn't contacted me. As I was being rung up, the manager (I presume) chose that time to reprimand one of her employees in a very passive aggressive way. Very awkward. Bad timing. Not professional. read more

My experience with MK Consignments was not a pleasant experience and I would like to share my experience for others for review as MK Consigment sold my merchandise for well below the price we discussed at the contract signing. Myself and MK Consignments agreed to sell my furniture for a little under $700 and after my merchandise sold in 3+ weeks I was given a check for $150 and some change on my furniture that had supposedly sold for over $400. I questioned whom I believe was the owner on why it was sold for a price that we did not agree upon and his response was his job is to be in the business of moving merchandise and per the contract he can sell the merchandise for any price he feels necessary. The MK contract in my opinion contradicts itself as it states the predetermined agreed upon price will drop at predetermined values at specific timeframes, i.e. 15% after 30 days (which makes sense), but there is also another caveat that I didn't catch that states verbatim , " MK reserves the right to determine the actual selling price of all items. If, at any time, we feel we need to adjust the price of your merchandise, you may or may not be consulted prior to the adjustment." So essentially MK Consignments can sell your items for whatever price they want to sell it for regardless of how much you mutually agreed upon. In my opinion, even though contractually it may be legal (although I question the legality of a contract that is one-sided) that it is not very ethical and exhibits bad business practices in my opinion. When I expressed my dissatisfaction to again whom I believe was the owner his response was he can sell it for whatever he feels necessary in order to move the merchandise. He told me "it is what it is" and just kept pointing to his contract statement that I mentioned previously that says he can sell it for whatever he wants to sell it for. My argument was this was not disclosed when I agreed to the contract, only potentially dropping the price if it didn't sell in the predetermined timeframes was discussed. Yes it is in the contract stating he can sell my belongings at any price that he wants but if your going to operate your business that way one should preface the customer to those tactics so they are aware that you can sell their stuff for any price rather than hiding a statement in fine print allowing you to do so. As I was leaving the store he stopped and said , " Hey have a Merry Christmas." It was a very unnecessary comment and I told him I would definitely not be sending any business his way and I would share my experience with my friends and family and suggest they take their business elsewhere. After that the gentleman, again whom I presume was the owner, followed me outside to my car and threatened to cancel the small monetary check that he did give me. So essentially my merchandise was sold for a price that I didn't agree to sell it for, and when I expressed my dissatisfaction I get threatened to have the check of what little money I did get for my furniture canceled. So I was basically being told that your merchandise was sold for whatever price MK Consignment felt was necessary to get it out of the store and maybe you won't even get paid for your portion since I disagreed with the way they handled my merchandise. It was an unbelievable experience. In any case, I wanted to make any consumer aware of my experience if they are considering selling any of their belongings on consignment. Please read your contract and ask the appropriate questions no matter where you sell your merchandise. read more

This place doesn't like kids very much. We know all kids have their moments but ours were actually being really good. They were sitting on their bottoms on a couch but since they are short their feet didn't reach the ground. I guess this meant their feet were "on" the couch. The man running the store told us to leave. We got our kids up and were leaving the store (and admittedly said a bad word to him). The man called the police and proceeded to follow us out to our car in the parking lot and stood there while we buckled our kids in the car. Terrible way to treat people and from the looks of other reviews it seems this is normal behavior read more
