I got a tad carried away and expanded the project. A stacked stone project is not inexpensive when done right. I was referred to Ryan by C&C Sand & Stone. Bottomline: I just can't imagine better work, period. It is very difficult to find good masonry companies, it's a highly skilled trade. It's the type of work that is "one and done". It isn't like paint, trim work or sheetrock that can be redone. It has to be done right the first time, no room for error. They arrived each day at the expected time. Never an issue. Read on for specific details. C&C spent a good 2 hours over several days helping me narrow down choices. There are a lot of choices. Just a few boxes of stone were left over which was acceptable. You don't want to order "just enough" as you are bound to fall short. Measure twice and cut once, and have extra just in case. Ordering stone takes several weeks. If you under-order, the project will just be delayed plus you need to schedule time for the crew to come back out and re-setup, and that costs time. Just don't go cheap. Mortar and other supplies are easy to get, stone isn't. Next, Ryan came to the house. We discussed the project and he took measurements. Total time about 1.5 hours. He provided excellent advice on the type of stone he'd use and even colors. He has seen a lot more projects than me, I relied heavily on his professional expertise. He even went to C&C and discussed with them the project and his suggestions. When I went back to C&C for a final selection, it was all good. I never felt rushed by Ryan or C&C. The project took 3 weeks. The area was prep 'ed with heavy-duty paper in the hallway for wheeling in product & drop cloths in the main area - I have no carpet or wood floors, just stained concrete and Maroleum - and plastic to close off areas to help mitigate dust. All cutting was done outside. When doing a project like this, just expect a LOT of fine dust no matter what mitigation is done. After each day, he and his crew cleaned up and made the area as tidy as possible. Ryan worked side-by-side; it isn't like he just out-sourced the work. When the project was all done, he suggested his wife's cleaning crew as they do this all time, and he was right. They too were excellent; when I find their card I'll post a review. However - their progress was slow, above and beyond the insurance issues. I would have to poke and prod them to follow up. Even then, I stuck with them, even if it took until June 2026 for them to actually schedule the work on the roof. They took the downpayment for supplies and then.... NOTHING. After a few weeks, with NO call, text or email, a team delivered the materials but despite 6 separate contact attempts (two texts, two emails, two phone calls) I heard nothing for over a month. I'm now stuck with repairs delayed by six months, rainy weather, having to find a NEW roofer who will have to redo the arguments with insurance, and having to require my funds and get their materials off my property. Honestly, I'm expecting I'll need a lawyer before long. I'm giving them two stars despite my frustrations because I suspect they've had something or someone collapse internally. So, as I said in my last contact attempt, they have my sympathy, but NOT my understanding.

I did learn some smart tricks from watching them paint, however. The job looks beautiful, it was done in a very timely fashion and the house had multiple offers and is under contract in three days and the paint had a lot to do with it. We were going to go with another contractor with a good bid, but I waited for the Unseth bid, it was a grand less and was using a higher grade of Sherwin-Williams paint. Color me happy.

The work was performed as scheduled and to our expected quality (that, coming from a finicky engineer). There were no surprises at all. I cannot express our gratitude for RC Construction. We are thrilled with our house remodel! Our home suffered hail damage to the roof, windows, doors, decking, and stucco. We filed a claim with our insurance company. The insurance company only offered to replace some windows. Like most people, my wife and I did not know what our insurance contract actually covers and how to deal with insurance companies. Rafael knows this well, studies it, has personal consultants, has years of experience dealing with insurance companies and has a good relationship with Mark at Compass Adjusting. Together, they explained the policy and expectations. One phone call and one meeting later and we had committed with one rule: RC will only repair what is agreed to with the insurance company; we want zero out-of-pocket expenses. Keeping in mind the insurance company tried to get away with replacing only a few windows, the final project (ALL covered by insurance!) included flat roof repairs, roof drainage/gutter repairs, 22 new windows, 2 new doors, all new stucco, deck repairs, interior wall repairs, and complete interior paint. RC Construction and Compass Adjusting managed the insurance company so we never had to make even a phone call to the insurance company. We just sat back and let them do their thing! Referring to a previous review: Keep in mind, most contractors use sub contractors. Some of them also use their own subcontractors. RC has a great team of subs - most of them know each other through their church. All were in our house daily for 6 months and we had no issues with any of them. They were all great people! Still, it's up to us as home-owners to know what we're committing to, set agreed-to expectations and we shouldn't be writing reviews before the work is done. Part of that work includes a walk-through and (usually) final touch-ups. It has now been 3 months since our remodel was finished. The only thing we had to call them back on was that we found the window manufacturer had 2 wrong handles on the windows. One right-opening had a left handle on it and one left-opening had a right handle on it. No biggie - their window sub came out and switched them. We are very, very happy with the work done by RC Home Improvements!!!
