Recently we had a terrible experience with Colonial Roofing Co. The issue progressed and more immediate attention was needed so I began to look elsewhere. In January, I received a call from Colonial asking to be paid for services rendered. Apparently they visited our house without notice of arrival or completion. The job that they performed was completely ineffective; the roof leaked just as much if not more in light of their repair. When we challenged them and asked for evidence of them even having had performed the work in question, their associate became very defensive and accused my husband and me of being dishonest. Colonial Roofing Company does not warranty their work because it is shoddy and will leave you unsatisfied. Homeowner beware! Do Not use this company!

They also installed the transition from metal roof to shingles in a way that it caused a leak that can't be fixed without re-doing the entire roof. You get what you pay for - the lower cost comes at a price of workmanship. Stay away if you want to protect your house!

J&A roofing reshingled my roof in April of 2024. They worked fast and did a good job, but there…read morewere a few problems, one being that they failed to shingle all parts of the roof that were included in the contract, which reads "Remove existing roofing down to wood decking from entire house sloped roof areas only". The two areas not done do not have steep slopes, yet they are certainly sloped. Since I do not go on the roof, I did not see this failure for awhile. I didn't think anything of it when there were 10-15 packs of shingles left over, until later when I saw that these areas had not been done. In addition, the ceiling in a room upstairs goes up to the roof and many, many roof in jails came through it. Eventually I hired someone else to cut all of the nails off. I called and sent pictures twice. The woman that I spoke with said hat she would forward everythIng to Fred and he would get in toush with me. It has been months and I have had no response. My husband passed away in November of 2023 and I am dealing with many things that are new to me. I feel somewhat taken advantage of.

A red flag should have been that Norm did not give us a contract or write anything down. He was very nice, offered a good price, so we ignored our gut instincts. We hired him for a siding job with a deck. It started in early May and was not even near done by the end of July. They came only 1-2 days per week and clocked in about 6 hours per day--if that. We did have a very rainy spring that postponed some of the work, but even on sunny days they didn't come . We might have waited it through, but the quality was low. There were big bulges on the siding in places. Norm politely agreed and redid the work, but when things go so slow, the last thing you want is to have to have them take down a wall and start over. They used non galvanized nails in our deck which started to rust immediately. His answer was to stain over them but rusty nails in pressure treated wood will only continue to rot. This feels unacceptable for a brand new neck. We would have paid extra for the right nails. Other issues were nails in our pool (which is far away), uneven spacing between spindles, I could go on. He did not finish even 1 aspect of the job in 2.5 mos. We ultimately had to let them go and have a new company take over. They noted that he did not give enough slack for the siding to expand and contract, that he did not use j channels around windows, nor did he wrap the house with a moisture barrier--just a rigid form insulation board. They had to redo much of his work (they were fabulous). We did not get a dime of our money back, including a down payment for a front porch he never even started. Don't make the same mistake we did. You get what you pay for.
