If you're looking for a window guy in the Hudson Valley, you can stop looking. You've found Dave at…read moreHudson Valley Windows & Siding. I can't express to you what a pleasure it is to deal with him. He's super honest, super personable (has stories for days), and does amazing work. I wish I could say he did some of that amazing work for me, but it's a weird story: Our annoying HOA forces us to keep appearances up with our neighbors. Everything has to be just so, and our windows needed to be energy efficient. Our windows already looked great, but I have to abide by the HOA or else. So I called up Dave to get a quote on how much it would cost to upgrade the windows. We had a great conversation, he knew the area, and the sort of job, and like I said, he was an absolute pleasure to talk to. We picked a day, and he said he'd check it out and give me a quote. After he went out there to take a look, he asked if I wanted to the good news or the bad news. The Good News: The windows were already super energy efficient. He knows because he had put them in himself for the previous tenant a few years back. What a coincidence! The Bad News: He wasn't going to make any money on this job. Which, if you're paying attention, you may realize was also really good news for me. Dave could've just straight up done the job again and made more money (as some dishonest folks would've), but instead but he got a laugh out of me, and a customer for life. I will be calling him for every window job from here on out, and I think you should too.

Our experience with HV Windows Doors and Siding started with a phone call to Dave, we setup an…read moreappointment and met the next week. As with every type of appointment for construction services you normally enter into a conversation hesitant wondering who is this guy, and will he give me a good price, a good job, stand behind work, or just give me a crappy job and run with my money, never to be heard from again. We've all heard the stories. Dave arrived at my home, introduced himself and we talked at great length about our siding project, and he did a walk around the home just to evaluate the job. He came back in, did a little figuring on a piece of paper, and gave us a price on the spot. While we knew not what to expect about the cost, we were somewhat surprised as it seemed a little over what we had budgeted. We talked a little longer and he explained in great detail what was needed and what he was going to do, he explained the funding and how it would work and he left. We thanked him for his time, his explanations, and his proposal and told him we would be in touch. After Dave left my wife and I sat down and discussed the project, the cost, and the timeline, as we wanted to get the project done before September this year. You know that everyone says, "Never take the first proposal, get prices, get multiple proposals, etc". We didn't know what it was exactly, but my wife and I both felt really good about our visit with Dave and so we decided to call him back the next day and enter into a contract. Not to make this review to long, the project was scheduled and actually took place a week earlier than expected. Dave anticipated a 5 day project, and they finished up in 4 days. His guys were like busy bees, only stopping for a 30 minute lunch break each day. Very professional, knew their profession, and did not need constant oversite. Dave's supervisor on the job Louis knew the job and knew the timeline and was sure to make it happen. While Dave was on the site almost every day, I think he thinks of himself as the cleanup crew picking up and taking garbage almost every day. There was no language barrier between the workers and me, and everyone on the job was eager to please. Dave made every effort to assure that the finished project was worthy of our praise, even adding a few things not originally negotiated in the contract. While the project was not considered a large project, it had alot of intricate details that took extra time to work around. My wife and I cannot express enough our level of satisfaction with Dave and his guys. They did what they said they would do, and most likely more that we didn't even know about. Great job, great contractor, and great value for the money. The project was worth every penny spent. I see now why much of Dave's business is return customers. We would/will certainly use him again if the need arises. Not to lengthen this review longer I would only like to add, that Dave is human, he is not a robot and his speech is not rehearsed. We learned alot about his family, his dogs, etc. and we felt he was true to form, just a good guy to work with. Highly recommend. The two areas not done do not have steep slopes, yet they are certainly sloped. Since I do not go on the roof, I did not see this failure for awhile. I didn't think anything of it when there were 10-15 packs of shingles left over, until later when I saw that these areas had not been done. In addition, the ceiling in a room upstairs goes up to the roof and many, many roof in jails came through it. Eventually I hired someone else to cut all of the nails off. I called and sent pictures twice. The woman that I spoke with said hat she would forward everythIng to Fred and he would get in toush with me. It has been months and I have had no response. We would not recommend this company. To start, the website is misleading--the photos are stock…read morephotos, not work Norm has done. He has 1 worker and they are painfully slow. A red flag should have been that Norm did not give us a contract or write anything down. He was very nice, offered a good price, so we ignored our gut instincts. We hired him for a siding job with a deck. It started in early May and was not even near done by the end of July. They came only 1-2 days per week and clocked in about 6 hours per day--if that. We did have a very rainy spring that postponed some of the work, but even on sunny days they didn't come . We might have waited it through, but the quality was low. There were big bulges on the siding in places. Norm politely agreed and redid the work, but when things go so slow, the last thing you want is to have to have them take down a wall and start over. They used non galvanized nails in our deck which started to rust immediately. His answer was to stain over them but rusty nails in pressure treated wood will only continue to rot. This feels unacceptable for a brand new neck. We would have paid extra for the right nails. Other issues were nails in our pool (which is far away), uneven spacing between spindles, I could go on. He did not finish even 1 aspect of the job in 2.5 mos. We ultimately had to let them go and have a new company take over. They noted that he did not give enough slack for the siding to expand and contract, that he did not use j channels around windows, nor did he wrap the house with a moisture barrier--just a rigid form insulation board. They had to redo much of his work (they were fabulous). We did not get a dime of our money back, including a down payment for a front porch he never even started. Don't make the same mistake we did. You get what you pay for.
