    New window #1

This is our third major project with Woodpecker Builders. First was a deck replacement project, then a room needed complete renovation after some water damage, along with several replacement windows and few windows added to a room, beautiful stuff. Saving up for our next project!

Mark performed a considerable amount of work on my home that included installing a new kitchen, putting a dormer in the attic, framing it out and making it a useable room. He put down new floors, new moldings and new sheetrock in a number of places and he replaced numerous windows and installed many electrical outlets. He did many other smaller things as well such as as installing lighting, ceiling fans and several barn doors and painting. He managed some of the other work, such as the spraying of insulation for the attic and the electrical and town inspections. Mark was exceptionally lovely to work with. It was not easy for him having me live at the house while he was renovating but he was always considerate and kind. If I wasn't happy with something he would change it. He was easy to talk to and discuss things with and he explained the work he was doing and the process as we went along. The construction and installation work he did was excellent. I could not have asked for more. The place looks beautiful and very well executed. When things came up along the way (like water getting into my basement) he just bought the right product and sealed it. (I of course paid him for the extra work but he just advised me about options and carried through with his recommendation). When I came home and hated the color that I chose, he repainted, no questions asked. He stuck pretty much with the timing he quoted me and on the whole was a total pleasure to work with. My only criticism of his work has to do with his finishing work. He was not as meticulous with caulking and painting as I would have liked. However, in response to my discussion with him about this (he is the kind or person who is approachable about such things) he took a small amount off the final cost so I could pay a handyman or painter to perform this function. So, although he could have done better finishing work himself, he essentially reimbursed me to have someone else complete this part of it. I was very happy with this solution and would definitely hire him again and recommend him to others.

I never write negative reviews for small business but after paying thousands of dollars for a deck that now needs to be raised to be at the same level as the pre installed house ledger board, I am fuming. Very poor workmanship. The steps on my deck are wavey and all the deck boards are not cut square so I was hoping I could just take them off and square up the cuts. The more board I take off, the more problems I am finding with the deck frame. No blocking, some joists are not 16"oc... Take a look at the pictures. They speak for themselves. High end prices with low quality work.

We are very happy with the new deck that Mark built for us outside our back door(s) into the yard, making the space so much more usable. The project went more quickly than we thought it would, and Mark is very friendly and easy to work with, taking my design and making it work in the space.

Same example of wood floor bucking as plank wood boards where laid with too much tension

Unfortunately my previous review was favorable until my wood plank floor started buckling. The flooring was installed by Woodpecker Builders in 2020 so it's not old. My insurance adjuster reviewed the flooring and said it was installed incorrectly. The tension is too tight and now I have to pay AGAIN OUT OF POCKET FOR A NEW FLOORING! All because Woodpecker Builders didn't install my wooden flooring correctly.

Mark helped us with a ton of renovations ranging from renovating a bathroom to building an entirely new bathroom to installing hardwood floors to putting overhead lighting in the entire second floor of our home, and a whole lot more. Everything he did, he did professionally and quickly and was incredibly patient with us as we tried to figure out exactly what we wanted to do where. We've actually hired him again recently for more work.

Mark renovated my bathroom and it looks great. I picked out materials and Mark installed everything perfectly. Everything except the toilet was replaced. He was very responsive throughout the whole process and completely reliable. Can't wait to do my next bathroom with him!

We couldn't be happier with our new deck! We will definitely be using Woodpecker Builders again for other projects.

I can't express to you what a pleasure it is to deal with him. He's super honest, super personable (has stories for days), and does amazing work. I wish I could say he did some of that amazing work for me, but it's a weird story: Our annoying HOA forces us to keep appearances up with our neighbors. Everything has to be just so, and our windows needed to be energy efficient. Our windows already looked great, but I have to abide by the HOA or else. So I called up Dave to get a quote on how much it would cost to upgrade the windows. We had a great conversation, he knew the area, and the sort of job, and like I said, he was an absolute pleasure to talk to. We picked a day, and he said he'd check it out and give me a quote. After he went out there to take a look, he asked if I wanted to the good news or the bad news. The Good News: The windows were already super energy efficient. He knows because he had put them in himself for the previous tenant a few years back. What a coincidence! The Bad News: He wasn't going to make any money on this job. Which, if you're paying attention, you may realize was also really good news for me. Dave could've just straight up done the job again and made more money (as some dishonest folks would've), but instead but he got a laugh out of me, and a customer for life. I will be calling him for every window job from here on out, and I think you should too.

Our experience with HV Windows Doors and Siding started with a phone call to Dave, we setup an…read moreappointment and met the next week. As with every type of appointment for construction services you normally enter into a conversation hesitant wondering who is this guy, and will he give me a good price, a good job, stand behind work, or just give me a crappy job and run with my money, never to be heard from again. We've all heard the stories. Dave arrived at my home, introduced himself and we talked at great length about our siding project, and he did a walk around the home just to evaluate the job. He came back in, did a little figuring on a piece of paper, and gave us a price on the spot. While we knew not what to expect about the cost, we were somewhat surprised as it seemed a little over what we had budgeted. We talked a little longer and he explained in great detail what was needed and what he was going to do, he explained the funding and how it would work and he left. We thanked him for his time, his explanations, and his proposal and told him we would be in touch. After Dave left my wife and I sat down and discussed the project, the cost, and the timeline, as we wanted to get the project done before September this year. You know that everyone says, "Never take the first proposal, get prices, get multiple proposals, etc". We didn't know what it was exactly, but my wife and I both felt really good about our visit with Dave and so we decided to call him back the next day and enter into a contract. Not to make this review to long, the project was scheduled and actually took place a week earlier than expected. Dave anticipated a 5 day project, and they finished up in 4 days. His guys were like busy bees, only stopping for a 30 minute lunch break each day. Very professional, knew their profession, and did not need constant oversite. Dave's supervisor on the job Louis knew the job and knew the timeline and was sure to make it happen. While Dave was on the site almost every day, I think he thinks of himself as the cleanup crew picking up and taking garbage almost every day. There was no language barrier between the workers and me, and everyone on the job was eager to please. Dave made every effort to assure that the finished project was worthy of our praise, even adding a few things not originally negotiated in the contract. While the project was not considered a large project, it had alot of intricate details that took extra time to work around. My wife and I cannot express enough our level of satisfaction with Dave and his guys. They did what they said they would do, and most likely more that we didn't even know about. Great job, great contractor, and great value for the money. The project was worth every penny spent. I see now why much of Dave's business is return customers. We would/will certainly use him again if the need arises. Not to lengthen this review longer I would only like to add, that Dave is human, he is not a robot and his speech is not rehearsed. We learned alot about his family, his dogs, etc. and we felt he was true to form, just a good guy to work with. Highly recommend. (So much for not making this review too long, oh well) Tom and Alice P.
