This place is absolutely amazing! Chef inspired and unique styles of condiments and such. For instance the BBQ is one of a kind and very good! (I'm picky about BBQ sauce too.) The typical BBQ meats are top notch! Another cool side note about half acre is they aren't just a restaurant. They own the ranch where beef is raised, a meat market where you can buy their raw beef, and a restaurant that cooks and prepares it for you. My wife and I finally tried the Half Acre today. We both enjoyed it. We arrived about 5 minutes before the restaurant opened at 11:00 AM and there was a short line of 4 - 6 people waiting. We sat in the car until someone was let in. There's a menu on your left as you enter. I ordered the 3-meat platter with double brisket and sausage. You get your choice of sides, and I ordered a side salad with green chili vinaigrette. I ended up taking half the brisket home. The sausage must have been a jalapeño cheddar variety as it was cheesy and a little too spicy for my wife. Her side was potato salad, and she said it was good. I can't review the sauce as I'm avoiding sugar. (Hope there wasn't any in the vinaigrette, which was tasty.) My wife said she prefers a little sweeter sauce. It's self-service. They call your number when it's ready. Styrofoam cups, lids, straws, and a soda dispenser provide ice and drinks. Also on the wall are several tea dispensers I'd estimate 10 tables, maximum, inside with seating for 4 each. It's definitely a place to arrive early, although they have outdoor seating for the two or three days a year you might want to eat outside in Midland. We left satisfied and will return. read more

I'm Texas everything is big. That was the size of the portions they served. I'm glad I got a one meat plate. It was a 3/4 inch thick slice of wonderfully juicy brisket that was bigger than my hand and my stomach. My only complaint if it's a complaint is that there's only one sauce to be had. For just under $22 I had a gigantic piece of brisket and and big size jalapeño sausage link. It also came with a side (pinto beans was my choice) and a drink. Everything was great. Brisket melts in your mouth and the beans had bits of onions, jalapeños and bacon in them and were so full of flavor. Sausage had the right amount of spice and tons of flavorful cheese. The only downside of this place are the hours, but if you have a chance to go try it you will be doing yourself a favor. In my opinion is the best BBQ in Midland or Odessa. read more

A neat little gem tucked away in an unusual spot. I work at an airport near this yummy place, I drove by it for awhile and decided to try it out. I am glad I did. Tried the chopped beef sandwich with fries. It was ALOT of sandwich, it's a little pricey so getting that much was worth it. The meat was very flavorful and the bbq sauce was already on it, still dipped it in more though because it was tasty bbq sauce. It didn't take long to get the food at all, and aside from the guy in front of me that took forever, ordering was super fast also. I went at the tail end of the lunch crowd , so it could have been a tad slower earlier but I think they have a pretty good set up so the wait isn't long anytime. I want to try the ribs and some other items soon. Working so close I will definitely be back soon. Probably the best bbq I have had in a long time. I can't wait to try the steaks from their other store The Midland Meat Company, but for now the Half Acre will be my go to for delicious bbq for a quick work lunch....or anytime for that matter!
