My experience with Moab Heat-N-Cool was far less than stellar. The last week of October 2015, my heat went out. When I called for an appointment, they were scheduling two weeks out. When the tech finally came over, he stated that he had worked on this furnace before. He stated that the owner had put $700 into it, and, he made it clear that he felt that the furnace wasn't worth putting that kind of money into. (I might mention that I'm a single parent, with little help in supporting my children.) He called me back with an estimate of $700. I kept calling Moab Heat-N-Cool over the following weeks, leaving messages with the receptionist, all while my two children and I were miserably cold, in spite of going to the expense of using space heaters during this time. My calls were not returned. I finally went into the office in person, after which the owner called to make arrangements to come look at my furnace. He came over that night, at which time I told him that the tech didn't feel that the furnace was worth putting $700 into. He agreed. He talked to me about a new furnace, which would run around $2,500, and, that was without a cooling system, nor ductwork to my upstairs, which has no source of heat. I was given a repair estimate of $1,000. I called numerous times again over the following days, requesting a written estimate, with the hopes that I could perhaps find the parts at a lower cost through a friend in Vegas, and pay Moab Heat-N-Cool to install them. I was told on at least 3 occasions that the estimate had been emailed to me, but, it had not. It was finally emailed to me 4 days after I requested it, but, the poor spelling made it illegible, and, of course, there were no parts numbers listed. In addition to that, the estimate had gone up almost another full $100...it was now $1,098. Finally, two of the men who work at one of Moab's local hardware stores recommended Advanced Air, even giving me the phone number for this company. I called their office, in St. George, and, within 3 hours of me calling, Ian arrived at my house, diagnosed the problem, bypassed it, and had my furnace up and running within 45 minutes of his arrival...all after 5 weeks of no heat!! We now had heat until he was able to bring the part over, which was within a week or 10 days, and, once the part was installed, I paid a grand total of $225!! In light of my experience, and then the illegal activities of the employees of Moab Heat-N-Cool, which headlined in our local newspapers after my experience with this company, I question what kind of operation they are running. I absolutely would NOT do business with them again!! FIVE WEEKS my children and I suffered, beginning in October, and throughout the month of November, all due to greed!! read more
