Agility area in the large dog area
    Michelle G.

This is a nice dog park hidden behind Bicentennial Park. There is a small dog area and a large dog area. There are a lot or regulars that come here and most of the dogs seem to know each other. They are all usually in the big dog area and there is usually small dogs in this area as well. The large dog area has some agility sections and there is a lot of area for the dogs to run around. It is a mixture of grassy areas and dirt areas. This place does get flooded if it rains a lot, so I would avoid coming here for a couple of days after a heavy rain.

Nice park. Small obstacle course. Plenty of parking. This was my go to park before I discovered Enterprise.

Nice park but always empty hard to find a good day/time to bring your dog unless you like empty parks!

They have two separate seating areas that are completely gated and secured where your fur baby can run around with all of their dog buddies, pups are welcomed in the bar area too but just need to remain "on-leash". Another big plus: you must register your dog the first time you come in with all of their shot records and this is enforced so the pups can run around safely. There are big flat screen TVs everywhere and they even have the NFL package. Good selection of beers, wine, seltzers and cocktails. They have dog meet ups that are breed specific that are really popular. It's an open air setting, but they have lots of fans. Support a Women owned business. Definite must check out if you have a dog or love dogs. ‍

They are super nice and welcoming and will let you know how everything works. You will need to register your dog and bring their proof of vaccines. They have drinks and their website says in the future they will have food. Their grand opening is this weekend 7-12 to & 7-13-25.

When I first turned in I went to the wrong parking lot and saw tennis courts, basketball courts, and a playground. Moving back I saw dog parks, a zip line course, and then a huge lake. I've actually done the zipline course before and enjoyed it. You can do paddleboard tours with Upper Tampa Bay Paddle Sports. I bet you can even bring your own kayak or paddleboard and go into the lake. I saw a sign at one of the dog parks that said for smaller dogs. I don't own a dog, but I imagine that owners of small dogs would appreciate that. This park seems well taken care of and it is nice to know there is a kayaking lake so close to home. I'll definitely come back!

The park is open until dusk (as posted that the gates close then) and there is lots to the area. I went at around dusk and saw some beautiful views of the water. The park area is very clean and obviously well taken care of. Parking is free and although the driveway into the park is paved, you will most likely be parking on grass that has a dip to it. My friends and I enjoyed roaming the area and exploring what the park has to offer.

Now, I don't mind the walk because I am obviously there to get my dogs exercise but it is far enough away that by the time I get there my two small dogs are already dying of thirst and overheated. They do have a dog water faucet but for some reason, none of my dogs will every drink out of it, even the pair before my current set. I do have portable bowls but again, but they time we get there they are overheated and do not want to run around. Too bad the two size cages were both in the same area or parking was closer.

After they separated, I remained close to my dogs to ensure they were not causing the problems which they weren't. Upon walking back towards the front of the park, the same dog owned by a tall heavyset blond woman and another person's dog, owner male both jumped my dog pinning my husky to the ground, while they both tried to bite him. Neither owner did anything to stop it. I had to get in there for them to stop attacking my dogs risking getting bit myself. After it was over, the female dog owner had the audacity to tell me I should take my dogs and go when it was her dog and the other dog's male owner that did nothing. Just stood there and watched. My husband had never had an issue at this park, but I refuse to go again and it's the closest park to our home. Photos of owners and dogs attached. I would highly advise against taking your dog into this park if they're around. Horrible and frightening experience with owners that did not care and did nothing to make it stop. The lady also persisted to laugh and make fun of me for being upset. I intend to file reports with animal control and spoke to a sheriff while at the park.

The center is currently closed due to Covid but the bathrooms are open. From what I could tell, on our mad dash to the bathroom and distance viewing, the displays are informative and well done. I'd love to return when it is safe to and take a look. The park has three trails that are part of the spree. We hiked the Bobcat Trail since it includes the boardwalk. The trail travels for about a half mile through trees and over dusty shells. Then it connects to the boardwalk. This was by far the best part. We walked along the beautiful, tree lined water, getting up close and personal with a bunch of small black crabs. We scanned the water for manatees but were not lucky to find any. The trail ends back at the nature center. We climbed the back steps to the top level and caught a great view of the river and the distant city. After the hike we hit up the playground for a few minutes. This is always my kids' favorite part. We also stopped off at the butterfly garden which was pretty active on this day. The park was in great shape, the bathrooms were clean, there were lots of people around doing various park things. Canoeing, kayaking, hiking, nature hunting and playing on the playground are just some of the things available at your fingertips here. So glad we visited! Can't wait to return to check out the other trails.
