A must see when you visit Tarpon Springs bayou. This park has many trees with limbs that are strong and low for sitting on. The water is calm and you might just sees some manatees and dolphins. I was here a week before Epiphany and we saw boys from the church setting up the small boats for the diving. They were so warm and quick to n talk with us about the event. I ended up coming back on January 6th to see them dive.

This is an amazing park with lots to do! Rent a kayak for the day from tarpon Tom they pick up and drop off at the park! Okay at the park or walk hall/pickle/tennis they have the court set up! Have a pic tie enjoy live music- if it's happening check the tarpon fb page for activities happening. For the winter months manatees can be easily viewed here

Craig Park is at the intersection of Beekman Ln. & N. Spring Blvd. in Tarpon Springs. The park is nestled on a huge 6.8-acre lot, encased by the Spring Bayou, and in the heart of downtown Tarpon Springs. Park amenities include a boat launch, kayak launch, lighted tennis courts, shuffleboard courts, children's playground, a spacious picnic area, a paved walkway around Spring Bayou, public restrooms, a dog park, splash park, event bandshell, a Veterans Memorial, and the Tarpon Springs Heritage Museum. My wife and I stopped by Craig Park to take a break from the crowds on Dodecanese Blvd and soak in some nature before checking out the shops on W. Tarpon Ave. We enjoyed the beauty of the park, walking around Spring Bayou, then cooling off under the canopy of the old oak trees. If you are in the area, I highly recommend visiting Craig park. The park is within walking distance of the shops on W. Tarpon Ave. Making the park an ideal location to watch the sunset after a great dinner and day out.

This is a nice park not too far off Alt 19. It is actually on the banks of where they do the cross dive on Epiphany. I had some time to kill between work and picking up my cat at the vet so I came here to get a nice walk in. The cool thing about this park is there is a nice paved sidewalk around the whole shoreline. I tracked it and it is about a mile if you walk around the whole amway and back. This park also has public restrooms, tennis courts, kayak rental and a small stage on the back of the recreation center. It is a nice park.

Craig Park is a hidden gem in Tarpon Springs. The park surrounds the Spring Bayou which eventually connects to the gulf. There is a boat launch ramp as well as a canoe club. It is a nice area to walk or bike ride around the bayou. Every March there is the fine arts festival on the bayou set in this park. There are over 200 vendors selling art from all over the country. You will also find many different food and drink vendors. Art work for sale range from paintings, sculptures, ceramics, and jewelry. After you walk up an appetite you will find food such as paella, cuban sandwiches, seafood, funnel cakes, and pizza. Beer and wine as well lemonade and sodas are available. Parking is on the local streets, so be patient. People are coming and going all day long.

Craig Park overlooks the Spring Bayou. This park is a hidden gem!! This is such a gorgeous park that is well maintained!! Craig Park is located a short distance from the historic sponge docks and restaurants. You can walk the paths along the water. There are benches and plenty of places to sit. It offers restrooms, boat ramps, shuffle board and playgrounds. There are picnic tables scattered about the park. It's a wonderful park to take a walk in or just sit and relax on a beautiful day. In the winter months the manatees come there to escape the cold. This is a nice park to have a picnic in. There are plenty of beautiful big oak trees to provide shade. The park is surrounded by big beautiful Victorian homes. On this particular visit the park was having the 44th Annual Tarpon Springs Fine Arts Festival. It was a gorgeous day to walk around the park for the art show. If you have never been to this art show I highly recommend you go next year. You won't be disappointed! There are tents set up around the park. They are selling everything from jewelry, pottery, paintings to all kinds of beautiful handmade art and things you won't find anywhere else. They also have a food area with all kinds of food and drinks for sale. It's a fun event to spend the day at. Afterwards, you can have a delicious dinner in one of the Greek restaurants only blocks away. If you're going to Tarpon Springs, check out Craig Park. Even with all the people with the fair going on we were able to park on the street. I don't see parking being a problem on a regular day. I will attach some photos of the fair.

One of our favorite spots to look for manatees is the Spring branch or Spring Bayou, off Tarpon Springs (FL) Bayou.

Beautiful open tropical green spaces, Picnic areas with BBQ's & Shelters, lots of shady areas & small green forestry areas. A lovely playground area for the kids, very nice restrooms, trails, fishing piers, lookout towers, wildfire all over, gorgeous views of the mangroves. A nature lovers paradise. Photo ops in every direction. Birds everywhere, perfectly preserved natural habitats, the sounds of nature all around, trickling water sounds in the distance. No signs of civilization. Not another human in sight. You would not think that this kind of hidden, almost untouched, natural treasure exist so close to the city, but it does. And it's very well maintained. While I was there a single gardener came briefly, checked things out, weed wacked around the edge of a sidewalk & left. As it already looked perfectly manicured when he showed up. I was there for a long time & there was no one else there except the brief visit from the landscaper & one other gentleman I had a brief but lovely conversation with. When I first got there, I ran into this one single gentleman that was bow hunting. He had a great big bow & arrows. I asked him if he had seen any of the Flamingos & he said "not today" I took that as a good sign to keep exploring as I must be close! haha. Later on, as I was leaving that same gentleman went back to his truck put his bow away & got out his fishing pole & gear. I thanked him for his time again & wished him luck fishing. He then wished me luck on my hunt for the wild flamingos & quickly, silently, vanished back into the woods. New Port Richey is a gorgeous place that has it all. It's quickly becoming my favorite playground on Florida's iconic Nature Coast. Highest Recommendations.

I cannot tell you the amount of wildlife we saw. It was absolutely amazing. We saw Osprey and Ibis and tricolor Heron. The list goes on and on. We also saw a pair of osprey in a nest. We also saw a black vulture, a ring, neck, snake and various ducks not to mention a bald eagle juvenile. The water is beautiful. You can walk out on the dock and get a Birdseye view of the golf. They have clean bathrooms and plenty of parking. Bring your sunblock.

The sign upon entering clearly says: "No swimming allowed here" and I wondered why is that? This park is clearly on the edge of the Gulf of Mexico with a large beach area, so why no swimming? That is a great question. As you enter the park, even from my photo of the park sign at the entrance you can see this very creepy plant in the background. So I wondered if that had anything to do with the "no swimming" rules. So I did some digging & this is what I learned. The very creepy plant adjacent to this park is a power plant called the "Anclote Power Plant" owned by Progress Energy (located near Holiday, Fla. in Pasco County) It generates more than 1,000 megawatts (MW) from two steam units. "Progress Energy Florida" says it's to convert the Anclote Power Plant to CLEANER natural gas. Their webpage says that the Emissions-reducing conversion will "ALLOW" the company to comply with "NEW" federal standards. Hua? (Not good word salad folks) yikes. BECAUSE, "Currently, the plant uses oil & natural gas. The change is required to "ALLOW" the company to comply with "NEW" federal emission standards for coal & oil-fired generating units, including the EPA's new "MERCURY and AIR TOXICS STANDARDS" (MATS) rule." YIKES. (Nope, not good word salad folks) No wonder there is no swimming allowed. Do not recommend.

There is also a bathroom, which is really convenient as you don't have to leave the play area or walk very far. It can get pretty busy on the weekends but is quieter during the week. They have multiple swing options, a small playground for younger kids, a larger playground for older kids, and various climbing/play structures. It is completely turf but is surrounded by a concrete walkway- so pretty wheelchair and stroller friendly. It is pretty shaded as well so you aren't being blasted by the sun. I would say this park is more suited to 2+. There are multiple climbing components that are pretty challenging and just require more coordination/strength.

My young boys and I were disappointed to find it had been Renovated for some time now with toxic Turf and plastic/metal playgrounds. Playground felt much smaller this way than when it had been wooden with plank beams running throughout. It is also incredibly packed, but I think that's also because there is a sports complex here and I'm assuming many younger kids are here playing on the playground while older ones play sports. The upside is that it's still a public playground and an outdoor activity for kids. There are bathrooms in the playground area so that's a convenience.
