As someone with sensitive teeth, I need a dental professional that can do the job without causing much pain, and Lilly has that light touch. The best part is that she is available to her patients in case of emergency, answering calls and texts promptly. She is friendly and is able to explain her advice clearly. Because she is so in demand, it can be hard to get an appointment, but I always make sure to get one when I'm in the UP.

I will say this now: I was extremely unqualified for the tasks I was given when I was hired. Unqualified in every sense of the word: no special training, no dental experience, nothing. And I was assisting with cleanings, extractions, root canals, you name it. Truth is, I should not have been anywhere near a dental office, yet there I was for a summer job. I thought I was going to be there just to file and do paper work. The dentist himself barely talked to me, and was much more concerned about supporting his hobby (airplanes) than really doing his job as a dentist. His work seemed shoddy and careless, although my eye is untrained so don't take my word for it (although the other reviewers seem to confirm this). So the main takeaways here: 1) staff may or may not be qualified to be doing the job they are doing. Be aware of that going in. 2) the dentist himself is not friendly. Any small talk he makes is a means to an end, not a sign of legitimate caring. 3) the work quality seems questionable at best, and probably a result of the dentist simply not caring as much about his work as much as he does about airplanes. There are several far superior options in the Houghton/Hancock area, I can assure you. If your insurance is accepted by those other options, I suggest you go there for caring and peace of mind. If you must come here, then be prepared for the points above.

They did not chart my probing accurately, did not address the reason I came in, then cleaned 1/2 my mouth for 166.00 after insurance. The dentist supposedly saw my X-rays, there was no exam. When I did see him he told me I looked like the Charlie perfume model after looking at my X-rays. He did not examine me. In what world is that appropriate or relevant? If he was referring to my age he was about a decade off. I gave 2 stars because the assistants and hygienist were nice, appropriate, and knowledgeable. They took an entire set of X-rays, which I will ask for to take to another office (which anyone can do, FYI).

They didn't bill my insurance and then sent a claim to a debt collector after only a month and never reached out for me for the insurance info again. They also said they were "swamped" and that they couldn't file an insurance claim again. False, I had to finally do a 3 way call with the insurance company to get Aspen to bill them. It's been a nightmare and I still don't have my reimbursement from them bc they sent the wrong x-rays twice! The only positive I have for Aspen is they got me in quickly and the tooth extraction went well. Oh and the office manager has taken my calls but the results are disappointing. I would stay away from ANY Aspen Dental as they are managerially incompetent.
