The produce they have might be limited but it's always top-notch! Liquor aisle is very good as are the baked goods they carry. We love Charlie's and will always tank up our car and boat there as well. Supporting local small business is the way to go!

It all started when the three year old child of my friends asked me about the "Chuck Store" Moi: "What is a 'Truck Store'?" Kid: "CHUCK, it is the bestest store ever in the whole world with candy!" Moi: "Do they have a toothbrush? He forgot to pack a toothbrush..." Kid: "Duh. They have EVERYTHING, and candy too." Indeed. Naturally, I had to see this marvel. And the kid tells no lies- this is part gas station, part old-timey general store, part hardware store, gardening center, liquor store, candy emporium and drugstore- that is a whole lotta hats, but the lady working the counter was clearly a pro able to direct me to candy and toothbrushes with ease. For the kid, a combo of monster truck toy car and lolly pop that took two days of effort to eat ($1.29, pictured with all it's awesome glory). That car is miraculously still intact. Have you played with a three year old? I'm surprised I am intact, kid is relentless and makes my hyperactive energy look tame. Awesome. For me to keep up, a Starbucks double shot chugged at light-speed and the priceless shot of Lady Monkeybutt- which I cannot believe is a real product and had me laughing hysterically as much as the three year old. Maybe more. I didn't know places like this existed anymore, but am glad they do.

I already summed up the experience for that LaCrosse KT. The 3rd worst location in town…read more I drove by 4 stores that day. The first was probably one I should've stopped at. The second, by the direction I was traveling at the time was too dumpy to consider even slowing down for, the one after that was similarly dismal by exterior appearances. Finally as I was done with my work in town I was heading out, and had to get a road soda and use the facilities. They were dire, at best. Getting an energy drink was the best option since the coffee station was lacking, and it was filthy anyway. An empty store, dirty floors, coffee and the hot foods were unstocked. The lazy clown was busy with social media and having a swearing contest with a trashy woman who was pissing about some injustice she'd been through. I wish I'd have driven a couple miles further and gone to the first store at the northern most end of this town. Today I was back in this area where, for another small electrical troubleshooting job, and I did stop at the nicest KT. Maybe later I'll think to write about its far superior management and perhaps even the ownership is corporate run, because I can't imagine the other three were. They have to be private franchises that have little adherence to their parent company's policies

This little convenience store makes a big impact on its area…read more I often stop in here to get gas, pick up some beverages and snacks after a long paddle on the Black River, or to help my fellow paddlers rent canoes or kayaks from the business. Yes, they rent canoes and kayaks, and they are OK with you using them for overnight paddle and camp trips. The rates are very reasonable. The convenience store itself is clean and organized. The staff are always friendly and good for some skinny on what the river is doing. What stands them apart is that they do not charge convenience store prices. Their pricing is more in line with a typical Kwik Trip. That is particularly impressive since they have a bit of a captive audience. They are the only gas station/convenience store of note between Black River Falls and Galesville along Highway 54.
