Mardi Gras has been in Mobile since 1703 - wow! Today, Mobile's family-friendly Mardi Gras consists of 40 unique parades, numerous balls, and tons of flying moon pies, beads, and trinkets! Elaborate themed floats manned by masked mystic societies, mounted police and marching bands wind through downtown Mobile and surrounding areas, entertaining nearly a million revelers each year. At the balls men wear white tie and tails and women wear full length evening gowns. It was really fun to get "dressed to the nines" for the ball we attended! Various clubs and bars offer their own particular events. Hank Aaron, my favorite baseball player, was born in Mobile and is honored by the Mobile "Hand Aaron Stadium." The USS Alabama Battleship Memorial Park is just outside of Mobile and has a memorial section honoring the men and women who fought in all of our modern wars. Bellingrath Gardens and Home located about 30 minutes from Mobile proper is definitely worth a visit, especially during azalea season.

This isn't the worst I had multiple seizures due to being epileptic then I wake up in jail charged with obstruction of justice. I'm currently on probation for this charge and I have complied. My first day of reporting city probation had to call the ambulance to come and transport me to the hospital for seizures. All I remember is being picked up by the ambulance I don't remember having my rights read to me or anything. After a seizure you go through a postictal state of recovery whereas your mind comes back from confusion and aggression due to the medical condition. I will definitely be seeking civil action as soon as this probation is completed. Any injury lawyers out there want to take on a case that'll be a definite settlement out of court contact me. I have years of medical records. It's got me suffering from major anxiety now and I have multiple medical records for this as well. I'm seeing a physiatrist every 90 days and I've been prescribed multiple antidepressants for anxiety. This department of public safety has completely ruined my life. This little park downtown celebrates that history in such a fun, colorful way. The statues are fantastic! They're detailed, dramatic and full of personality. They really capture the pageantry and tradition of Mardi gras. We happened to visit in December and I feel like that made it even more charming because they had a gorgeous Christmas tree up in the park in addition to all the beautiful statues. Everything felt super festive and we ended up spending almost an hour in the park. That probably sounds crazy because the park isn't even that big, but it's really well kept and perfect for stretching your legs and taking photos. We took our time walking around and our dog enjoyed the open green space. It was a fun way to spend the afternoon and I feel like I learned a lot. I definitely recommend stopping by here if you are in the area.

I love going to al the local libraries here in Mobile, AL. My favorite is the Moore Branch Library…read morewhere I have made friends and several acquaintances there. My major complaint is that the circulation department at West Regional is extremely slow. In particular the library purchases movies for rental. The circulation/preparation department then sits on them for six to eight weeks after release date before making them available to rent. Now on average new release movies cost from $15.00 to $35.00 each. In most cases they will purchase from 12-20 copies of the movie. At the rental rate of 75 cents for a one week rental or the same amount for a three week rental of T.V. shows by the time they are available to rent the library never recoups the initial investment for each title. This is my major beef. The library uses taxpayer funds to make these purchases knowing full well they are going to lose money on each title. It used to not be this way. What can be done? Probably nothing. Who can fight governmental organizations and win!!!
