Praise the Lord, I guess Mobile is at full employment now!…read more Yellow Cab cannot accommodate people who have suitcases or a lightweight wheelchair without an excessive wait time so they can "find" someone who can lift something. Don't all their drivers do this? By "excessive" I mean "as long as three hours." I have waited this long for a wheelchair van to drive me from medical appointments to which I could walk if I weren't a paraplegic. Today I asked for a sedan, since I can get in and out of one. I just can't move my wheelchair into the car. It's lighter than the average traveler's suitcase, but they would not commit to a driver because "they have back problems." I ended up canceling my appointment again because I just will not sit in an office for hours waiting for a taxi to take me 1.5 miles home. I have "back problems." I've had ten operations on my back. Even I could lift my wheelchair and throw it in the trunk of the car IF I could still stand on my legs. I asked what they do when someone goes to the airport with suitcases, and was actually told that customers just load and unload their things themselves. I have lived all over this country and in Europe. I have never heard of a taxi company that does not load and unload suitcases (or manual wheelchairs). This might not be a big deal to you, but to someone like me, it's HUGE. It should be a big deal if you're taking luggage to the airport, too.

When my party arrived at the airport we had to wait for over an hour before a shuttle picked us up to take us to the cruise terminal. Once we were on the shuttle, the driver was horrible. He smelled as if he hadn't showered in a week, and he almost rear ended the car in front of us a few times. On the way back, the ride was much smoother, but they forgot the wheelchair that I rented (due to a broken ankle) for my trip in the middle of the cruise terminal's parking lot. This wasn't discovered until we arrived at the airport. Luckily we had enough time to wait for 45 minutes while someone brought the wheelchair to me (the lady was even pulled over trying to get it to me quickly).

We reserved a limo my daughter's wedding day at 7pm at our beach site…read more You want everything to be perfect for your baby girl's special day, so I worried they'd be finished and the limo would not be there, but much to my relief the driver (Mathew) was at least 15 minutes early and ready to go. He patiently waited as they took pictures. When I was heading to my car after getting our stuff off the beach, Mathew said 'you should get to the reception before us so I will take them on a little longer route to give you time to get ready'. Thank you! We all got there in the right order and they got out of the limo, but the director wasn't ready for everyone to come in yet. Mathew got to the other side of the lot and saw her standing outside in the heat and immediately backed over to her and said 'why don't you sit in the back with the door open to stay cool until they are ready for you'. Good call and she was so thankful for that she made sure I knew about it. He waited there until everything was done and they were ready to head out for their honeymoon. A giant thank you to Mathew and Luxury Limo for helping to make my daughter's dream wedding night such a wonderful experience for her and our new son-in-law! You guys are awesome!

We are big fans of Amtrak and take regular trips on the choo-choo and I have a detailed account of…read moresome of adventures and experiences in a draft coming soon. But because we've been excited about the restoration of a local route, and today was a big news development, I am dropping a review with what's happening. In 2020 Amtrak confirmed its intention to begin service between Mobile, AL and New Orleans in 2022, an actual start date has been targeted for January 2022 but has not yet been finalized. The train will link cities across the Gulf Coast for the first time in more than 16 years. Amtrak says they're on track to make it happen, saying they have the necessary funding for at least the first three years of service so far.  The service is currently dubbed Gulf Coast that also includes four stops in Mississippi (Bay St. Louis, Gulfport, Biloxi and Pascagoula). The service would be separate and distinct from the Sunset Limited, whose service from New Orleans to Jacksonville, Fla., was suspended after Hurricane Katrina in 2005. Unfortunately there are no plans at this time to reinstitute that service, sad. They plan is for the rail station at the downtown airport at Brookley Field, making two round trips per day over the 140 mile single track route on CSX's freight corridor, with a goal of 38,000 riders per year. May 12, 2021 in the news was the Biden Administration sending a letter showing their support for the ongoing efforts to restore Amtrak passenger services from Mobile to New Orleans. Part of the letter reads: "The Biden-Harris Administration believes that the expansion and improvement of intercity passenger rail service, through efforts such as the restoration of Gulf Coast service, plays an essential role in meeting the most important objectives of our transportation system, including combating climate change, ensuring equity in personal mobility, and driving economic growth and vitality." So, it's looking good for train fans, like us, and before long we should be able to just take the 50 mile drive to Mobile to choo-choo instead the 3 hour drive to Nawlins for our next trip up north, or wherever our next adventure takes us, woohoo! Bottom line: It's not exactly a cruise but when you book a sleeper you have 3 nice meals a day, get to lounge around and leave the driving to the experts. We love it!

It was horrible. Apparently there was an accident on a railroad track so Amtrak sent a bus to…read moretransport us to New Orleans. Instead of Amtrak giving customers an option to cancel, reschedule, or request a refund, we were told to call customer service in 2 days which is Monday as Customer Relations are only open weekdays. The trip is taking longer and the experience is not there. I am utterly disgusted.
