A lot to choose from here, that I am literally afraid of running into one of the guitarists from Red Hot Chilli Peppers, or Andre 3000 from Outkast, or Afroman, or Bigfoot, with their long hair and body fur, and waving it around on my face. Lucky I didn't bump into Bigfoot. Instead, it's more like meeting the Bill Gates of the latest technology in razors, who made me drop my jaws in awe at how much he clearly knows every little detail of the latest and best shavers here. Not only that, he was so quick in serving the two male customers already here before me, that it wasn't long before he approached me. You're the man. You win. But please don't make me regret spending $600 on you. Don't worry, there's more affordable shavers here for everyone, men and women.

It doesn't take long to look all hairy and unkempt, and it can get quite itchy and take you right off the smooch list because who wants to rub their lips against a cactus? Then again there is a very sophisticated value added if you have facial hair that is well groomed. Even if you don't do the full face scrape every day you still need shaving implements to keep yourself looking tidy, so every man has a relationship with some source of face scraping. I myself go directly to the specialists because you only have one face and before you know it, that very same face is looking like a disaster zone every morning, so you may as well have good advice to keep it safe and acceptable. The Shaver Shop attracted me because it was quite clear what they were on about - shavers. Yes, I am a genius aren't I?! They have a very good range of electric shavers and some blades - they can source what they don't stock and they give decent advice with reasonable warranties on the various shavers depending on what you are looking for. It isn't so simple to find something that suits your personal skin style without a little advice and there are some shavers that simply will rip your sensitive skin apart and render you quite the unattractive creature with scabs on your face. Yes, scabs on your face. Think about it - who wants to have scabs on their face? Certainly not I - so advice and support is the way I go, and that way generally leads me into the Shaver Shop - it is my dear friends as simple as that. They stock other personal hygiene things as well, mouth, face and hair is really the areas they watch out for; you can pick yourself up a toothbrush, a nose hair trimmer, a buzz thing for cutting your own hair... it's not a buzz saw... not a buzz cutter (?) but it makes a buzz noise and it's fun to mow off someones hair and make them look like a convict. Buzz clippers? I'll have to ask next time I'm in the store. I grow my hair, so that's why I'm coming up blank on that one. Men even shave their pubic hair these days evidently, so you can get a personal groomer that will whisk off those thick and curleys without stopping for a cough or a "thank you father for I have sinned" along the way... figure that quip out yourself. All I really know is that you'll have a smooth face if you get in and sort out something with these folk. There's usually a man and a woman on hand staff wise so you will not find yourself lining up for public humiliation.

They have a good range of Leatherman products as well as Vitorinox, and plenty of Barska binoculars from large and super strong to little portable ones. This is also a shop for girls, if you happen to like these things, and have lots of gadgets that take a difficult kind of battery. There are lots of quite good phone covers, which are both practical, heavy duty and look good. It's very fun to browse in here and see what their latest toy is. However, I find that if I know what I'm looking for, it's much cheaper to nip into a Jaycar to buy batteries. I think of this place as more of a gifts and gadgets shop.

I emailed their support pictures of it, and followed up twice more in the coming days but never heard back. Eventually I had to call them, and they said that they could not just replace the part that was damaged - which was considered a spare part - but that I would have to return the whole thing, and it would take two to four weeks to be assessed and replaced. I told them this was not not be suitable, so instead would like a refund, but was then told that they could not guarantee a refund. Having looked into it, I found I was within my rights to receive a refund, so called them back and arranged the return. At first even though it was an online order, they wanted me to drive (3 hours) to the nearest store to return it, but I made it clear I was not going to do that, and they seemingly begrudgingly agreed to generate a return label. Whilst I was thanking them for their help, they were monotone and unenthused the entire time. They also said that they can put a request in for the refund, but it may still take a number of weeks. This also does not align with Australian Consumer Law. I won't be buying from MSY / Umart again, and would encourage others to note how poor their online reviews are now. I didn't check, as I know previously they were a good company, but I did not notice Umart had acquired them.

Basically most Harvey Norman stores are set up the same. Huge entrances to the furniture department. Usually entrances are in the middle of lounges, if you go one way you will ge tmore furniture then curve round to televisions and the likes, go the other way and get beds and bedding. I have managed to grab some fantastic bargains on some great pillows here actually. Heaps better quality than at department stores and they lasted heaps longer. The Electrical and Computers are usually in a separate section at the rear or one side of the store, with electrical left of the spearate entrance to this area and computer, mobiles phones, camera's, PC software, etc to the right of the registers. I have never purchased nay major electrical items from this store but have bought some really good computer equipment here. Including a fantastic Acer laptop. It was already out so cheap and had a cah back offer making it even cheaper in the end. I have always received good service here and been given some great advice from people who obviously know their products. Getting the service is the hardest part - they are usually really busy, more so in computers and electrical departments, and it may take a little wait before someone is available to help you. However once you have someone their service is usually very good, I have never had an issue with a staff member at any Harvey Norman store.

But I find that you're paying for it when you buy stuff here. That's why they bitch and moan about online shopping. You'll get exactly the same thing and pay less than half the cost in many situations. I haven't ever bought furniture at Hardly Normal's, just because if I'm paying that much, it'll be from a premium store, not this place, or any of the others. I do feel a bit sorry for those that have to buy their computers here. Seriously, go to MSY, buy the parts, and learn to do it yourself. You'll end up with a new skill, a computer that costs literally half the price (or less), and everyone will tell you you're awesome. Which is what I can't tell this place.

It works, trust me, it is just really lazy! After a couple of months I decided to invest in a 'u-bute' 42inch LCD with picture in picture and all of the trimmings......I still sat on the floor and rested my feet on it, well, on the base! I don't think I would be treating my tele like that if it was one of the pretty screens from Dennis White though! Dennis White is as close to 'top end' that we get in the Hi-Tech super metropolis that is Adelaide. They are very selective of brands they stock and charge accordingly. Apparently they are cheap for the products they stock, but they could double what they had on the sticker price and I would still have no idea! Word to the wise though, if you are looking to invest in one of their all consuming Hi-Fi systems make sure you don't live in a block of appartments, unless you have some damn understanding neighbours, because those things really crank out the Kenny G!

I was given a great price and made a point of asking if unit was ex-display, ex demo etc. Was assured!! it was 'brand new'. Was happy, only to find when I got home and un-packed it, the Amp had clearly been opened and badly re-packed. I was worried and soon had good reason. I immediately started hearing 'crackling' through my speakers every time I adjusted the volume. It spent six weeks being fixed under warranty, with a faulty volume control motor. I believe this was a return and was simply re-sold for that 'great price', knowing it to be faulty! SOLD amp after that and lost money. NAD375BEE is a good Amp, just don't get it from this guy!!! Giving the benefit of the doubt, I purchased a Rega RP40 Turntable, some time later and made a point at asking once again if this item was 'brand new, in sealed box'. When item arrived, the box was not sealed, without any tape at all, it just opened, which I find hard to believe would have been sent like that from England! I opened the box and immediately noticed broken foam packaging and lots of foam pieces in box. I unpacked it, then to find it had indeed been opened and found the counterweight outside of its plastic bag and just sitting loosely inside the turntable. This is quite heavy and was not in its secure foam insert and the plastic bag it was supposed to be sitting in was pushed into the foam recess where the counterweight was supposed to sit at the side of the packaging. This counterweight was just left to sit and slide around on the face of the turntable platter causing scratches. I took the turntable to Denis White and he and one of his staff, immediately became defensive, rude, extremely aggressive, swearing and would not discuss it, after I mentioned the NAD story and this is now the second time, this has conveniently happened. This guy is a shonk and has no integrity. He is rude, aggressive, belligerent and is not to be trusted, especially if you want a good price!!! I have spent $30,000 on a Hi-Fi System and still buying! BUT NOT FROM DENIS WHITE!!!!!!

I don't care what you know about guitars. I don't care if you can write three different dissertations differences between Nocasters, Broadcasters and two pickup Esquires: these guys know more than you AND they happily talk to you all day about the nuances of which fuzzbox is going to work best with your obscure pickups. Not a total guitar geek? These guys will break it down very simply and explain anything you want them to. Never condescending, just genuinely interested and eager to help. The range of guitar and amps is... obscure. It's not really a retail range as a high end pawnshop of cool and interesting consignments. Weird Fenders Gibsons Gretches and Rickenbackers abound, but there's also an ever changing mix of more interesting Squiers, Dorbros, Jacksons, and a great range of mid to high end acoustics. There's a full repair shop out the back. If you love your guitar and its broke, take it there. If you want cheap, go somewhere else (like eBay). If you want the best, go to Fretco.
