What a wonderful and relaxing experience. After deciding to head to Hot Springs we found great reviews for Moccasin Springs. I would caution that this facility is not designed for anyone requiring disabled access to the pools - many stairs. We lucked out calling and getting of the last two reservations for a two hour hot springs soak. The reservation includes access to a sauna, lockers and private bathroom / showers. There are options for additional massage services also with reservations. Towel and robe rentals are also available but you can bring your own. We arrived early and enjoyed a light/healthy brunch before our hot spring access. We were warmly welcomed and provided for some simple guidelines for the phone free / adult only spa. Once inside and changed there are access to six pools with varying temperatures. After two hours in the mineral waters you are amazingly relaxed and skin is smooth as silk. I would definitely go out of my way to come back. Passing through the quaint town that showcases the sandstone buildings allows for other food options and a walk through the park. I'm not kidding when I tell you the entire reason I wanted to spend the summer in Hot Springs, SD was for THIS place! And yes, they know my name as I'm there about 3-5 times/week. ‍ My FAVORITE part (besides the epically relaxing "soak" experience) is the fact that it's 18+. No. Kids. Allowed. Sorry for the upset families, but the fact is you can still enjoy the springs at Evan's Plunge down the street. THIS place is reserved for the quiet rejuvenation for stressed-out adults, and I for one welcome it as often as possible! As adults we're often overworked, stressed & can't escape young members of the family. But Moccasin Springs offers a haven to revive you at the soul level. And don't get me started on the restaurant. I loved Buffalo Dreamer (which is now a pop-up across town inside The Space in case you're wondering where it went), but I also love The Mercantile... so when I read that The Dragonfly restaurant inside the springs spa was run by the same owners as The Mercantile, I got excited! They've got incredible gluten-free options... including flat bread!! And their on-brand custom kombucha is amazing as well. There's more than just soaking here too... the massage therapists are amazing, the salt room is healing (especially for sinus issues & allergies!) and they also have an infrared sauna that's new this year. Facility restaurant is way too small and cannot accommodate guests. Facility had 1 tiny sauna that only accommodated 6 people. Facility had about only 6 individual changing rooms, so we all had to wait to change while our 2-hour meter was running. Sidewalks were freezing and covered with salt chunks. Facility nickel and dimes you for everything. Need a towel? Extra charge. Need a robe? Extra charge. Want water? That'll be $2.75 plus tax. No foam flip-flops like you get at a pedicure were offered to deal with the sidewalks. Pools themselves were lovely. Just what we needed after a flight. We booked our passes the night before. They were showing only 10 of 30 sold. When we got there they were sold out so it's a good job we did. A lot of last minute walk ins I guess. The pools were great and we moved around quite a bit. There are noodles to float on for the bigger pool which was nice. Bathrooms are close by. Yes people will talk even when it says whisper....because they just cant help themselves but at least there were no children there. It was pretty quiet on the whole. There was some piped spa music around one of the pools which we did not mind, it was not smooth jazz as someone else indicated. All in all money well spent, we did 2 of 3 hours for the soak. There are sunloungers around the pools which get taken pretty quickly with towels but no people....because they are all soaking. read more

This establishment was amazing , was on a road trip and was looking for a relaxing place to go to and surprisingly discovered this gem! Me and my boyfriend very much enjoyed our visit. Now in addition to the loud talking that seems integral to the Moccasin Springs experience, the management has decided that piping in easy-listening jazz is necessary. A truly poor choice. Never once have I sat in the hot tub and said to myself "what this place needs is elevator music." I like this place but the noise is out of control. Posting signs that say "QUIET VOICES APPRECIATED" is obviously not working. When you have 10 people in the tubs all engaged animated conversations the noise level is in the range of 80 dbs. This using an app on a cell phone. 80 dbs is hardly conducive to a tranquil hot tub session. I have brought this issue up to the management. It is received with deflection and blank stares. Visited here and on a cross country road trip with my best friend and her mom. We are from New Jersey, so to be able to experience a place like this was unbelievable! The two wonderful women at the front desk were so accommodating and made sure to explain everything to us prior to our soak. There are 3 soaking pools ranging from 87 degrees up to 105 degrees. It definitely feels like a spa environment - we couldn't believe it was natural water! There are changing rooms, showers, and a heated pool house available as well. Where do I go after a full day of exploring the Black Hills? Right here. From the helpful front desk people who helped me build my perfect visit, to the treatments and amenities....I made a great decision. May I suggest the Essential Vitality which includes use of the infrared sauna, then ushered into the best massage (Deep Tissue, Swedish, etc) where I became part of the table then was slowly escorted out to the soaking pools that vary in temperature. I started in the coolest pool and worked my way up to the warmest. Even though I was sitting, I felt buoyant and that felt like heaven to me. No one rushed me, it was the best and most relaxing day that I have had in a long time. Highly recommended. Note: the nicest thing you could do for your spouse, friend or family is to drop them off and then pick them up afterwards. While most of the 1890 Minnekahta Bath House pools are gone, the water and spirit certainly remain. . The massage therapists will help melt away your cares and work to relax your muscles. The IR sauna is great with a view to the pools. .
