My wife, daughter, and grandson used TRE to go to the State Fair. We left Bell station around 9 am…read morethe last Saturday of the fair. I use a walker as I have had a stroke. I want to thank the staff for making my trip easier than I anticipated. They held the train for 5 minutes for me to walk to the handicapped entrance and showed my daughter how to purchase tickets online after we boarded. We returned around 7 pm and experienced the same service. Thanks again TRE for making an 82-year-old man's day at the fair outstanding.

Felt nice to contribute to charity over the holidays. Tickets are $12 for adults, $7 for children, and $5 for seniors. Children under the age of 2 receive free admission. To my surprise, the Trains at NorthPark Center is a tradition for more than 25 years. There were so many elaborate miniature toy trains exhibit around the world. The State Fair of Texas is so cute and I really enjoyed the LEGO bricks display! Downside is you're done after one big loop around. You can finish viewing the entire thing in under 30 minutes; under 15 minutes even if you're not stopping to look around and admire the toy trains.

To exit simply ring the bell and the conductor will stop when available to do so.

The Interurban Railway Museum (free admission) is Plano's…read moreoriginal depot from 1908 and housed a power substation to keep a network of electric powered railcars moving Texans until 1948. Inside the museum are exhibits that teach about electricity, facts about the Railway system, and fascinating pieces of Plano history. Plenty of buttons to push and things to do for kids (and adults). The staff is super friendly and happy to show you around and give you a personal tour of the historic railway car outside. There's even a weekly story time for kids every Friday at 11 am. Located in old Plano at the Eastern border of Haggard Park (near the DART station). A hidden gem!

Oh my, where do I begin?…read more We decided to take our grandson on a his very first train ride. It seemed like a great idea and there are a lot of pluses, but there are some major negatives to. The pluses are the staff, the train station, and the train cars themselves. They have been beautifully restored and that alone made the trip worth it. And now for the negatives.... On our train ride we literally did more sitting than we did riding. The ride itself doesn't really go far from the station, in fact it pretty much stays in Grapevine, just a couple miles from the station. On its short journey, it stops multiple times to yield to the Trinity Rail Express. During those times these folks are selling you stuff like snacks and photos. Ironically, the pauses take just long enough for them to sweep the train faster than Jesse James's Gang and get away with all your money. When they are not heisting you, they have a couple actors that come through the train doing a skit over a sound system that is so distorted that literally no one can make out what they are saying. Bottom line, as disappointed as I was, my grandson loved it, and I guess that is what matters.

This is my first time visiting, and do note that you have to Street Park if you're not taking public transportation. However, during midday on a weekday, it was easy, and I paid $.60 for 12 minutes, which was long enough to grab what I was aiming for. There's about 2 to 3 attendants working behind the screen to help you out, and then you wait in a queue to come up to them. I told them what I was there for, ended up buying three of the different varieties of cards, and four of the postcard designs. The cards are $10 each but come with a day pass, and the postcard is an additional $2 each! I don't know if I'll have a need to go back in the future, but I definitely think it's a worthwhile stop if you're in the area, and if you're looking for a fun (and useful!) FIFA souvenir.

This is a really neat model train display place in Frisco discovery center. There is a tour option,…read morebut that wasn't an option when we finally had gotten to try it out. It is for sure for someone in your life that loves trains and train models. It can be a quick little visit if not doing the larger tour of things outside and inside, we stayed about 30/40 minutes. They give you a little clipboard with a scavenger hunt, kids and adults, that really helps kids especially take more time to look at all of the things in the display. The folks working, along with the two or three other customers that were train people, there were very informative, helpful & nice to my youngest as he was the only kid there. Plus, for me make a day out of it and plan on going to the video game museum and/or the little learning play area in the same center. Especially based on the amount of time we spent there and the length of time we had taken to make the drive out there, so with our visit we did the video game museum cause my youngest loves both things. There is also a performance space there if there happens to be a show the same day, but the day that we went there was some sort of recital for a school or possibly a stringed instrument players contest.
