Immediately, the woman at the front told me we "wouldn't fit" even though there was plenty of room in the front aisle where I was about to start browsing and the stroller was tucked out of the way of other customers. I then left since I had no need to buy any of their knick knacks but was just trying to support local business. It seems like poor customer service to alienate moms who are likely the bulk of customers. Since my experience I have heard of other moms who were told not to come in the store with their children. I went across the street to Somewhere in Time where they were very nice, better organized, and seemed to sell higher quality items.

They have a lot of options for pants, tops, matching sets, etc. The downside is that the clothing is fast fashion :/ The material quality is not the best and you can tell when you try them on. They're really meant to be worn 2-4 times until the quality deteriorates. The sizing is also a little bit off. If you're short like me (5'1"), the length of most of the bottoms are going to be too long. Price wise....... some items are most definitely overpriced for the low-end quality. You can spend $50+ for a top and bottom that looks like it should be a Halloween costume. So I wouldn't call this store super budget friendly. BUT they do have clothing racks with deals that are less than $15 or so. Service is just okay. They don't greet you or offer any assistance unless you go up to them and ask. Their refund/exchange policy is terrible, though. They don't allow refunds AT ALL, and you can only exchange within 2 weeks from the purchase date. A lot of items are also final sale. Overall, it's an okay place to shop for trendy women's clothing. Just don't expect high quality.

Before talking about the shop itself, I will say that during my recent visit the staff was very nice (this included two young women and one older one - possibly the owner?). I overheard them having several conversations with customers and they all seemed very familiar and friendly. Of course, this is just my experience, so take that as you will. No. 165 (so named for the building number) is an absolutely adorable, comfortable and whimsical shop in Maplewood. They sell all sorts of items ranging from novelty items, candy, clothes, stationary, dish towels, purses, soaps and more. Everything in the shop is either meant to be charming, beautiful or tongue-in-cheek and I love that combination. Interestingly, I saw a note on the counter that indicated at some point last year this shop was going to close, but a strong reaction from the neighborhood helped the owner to change their mind and keep the shop open. What that meant on a practical level is that during my visit a lot of the shelves were definitely more bare than I think they would normally be. This decision is recent, so I am hoping that means in the next couple months the store will restock and have more to offer than it already has.
