My biggest disappointment was the condition the work area was left in. Electrical plates were left off with wires exposed, there was a mess that wasn't cleaned up, and the boxes/materials were placed on the street when I had expected they would be hauled away. I also would have appreciated having things put back the way they were before they left. I understand that not every installation goes as planned, which is why I didn't rate them lower. The technician made a good-faith effort, but the cleanup and attention to detail at the end of the job fell short of my expectations.

Does not stand behind their work. I'm a landlord that has used Jay Electric on a few jobs…read more Contractors do the work, I get pictures, and they get paid. Simple. However, on one job, our tenants reported that the oven glass door broke. We dispatched our property manager who informed maintenance. The discovery was that the electrician failed to screw in the glass front of the oven, the tenant used the oven and when it closed the glass shattered. I've also been informed the handle is messed up. The tenant is a professional husband and wife and baby, not the kind of people who mess around with oven glass brackets. At first, we assumed it may have been caused by the appliance company replacing the countertop range, however this was ruled out after detailed discussions regarding what they did. They did not dissassemble or pull the oven out as Jay Electric had- the tenant witnessed both technicians, and was able to provide a video and photo showing a complete removal of the oven. Removal of the oven is not the problem- removal of the screws securing the glass and not replacing the glass causing it to be loose was the problem. Lack of attention to detail. Informed the company, provided details logically pointing to Jay Electric but they are denying responsibility and saying it was too long ago, which should not matter as a matter of principle but this company lacks principles it seems.

The technician arrived, super professional and even had shoe covers. He assessed our problem and unit as a whole and advised what was needed asap and what we could take care of in future. He took his time and didn't rush the fix and made sure everything was running as it should which made me feel very confident and comfortable. I have used Nextdoor Electric once for actual work and also obtained three quotes from them. My…read moreusual electrical company, Blue Electrical Contractors, was super busy so I decided to try Nextdoor based on their Yelp reviews. I had them take down an old outdoor ceiling fan from my back porch and install two new ceiling lights: one in the same spot as the ceiling fan and the other over the seating area to provide more light (see photo). The job cost $572 which I thought was a little bit high, but I wanted the work done. Two big issues with the job: First of all, the technician didn't install the round ceiling light insulation discs in each fixture (see photo) which is to my understanding required to meet Underwriters Laboratory requirements. (The insulation is used to reflect heat from incandescent bulbs.) He also cracked one of the plastic conduit hangers so that it was actually broke. I found the insulation thrown in the garbage and had to dig them back out and have the technician come back to put them in and replace the broken hanger. Also, wasn't really keen on the fact that he used plastic hangers vs. metal to hang the conduit. Another issue was that I wanted a multi-outlet switch in my garage changed out to a standard outlet; see photo. Nextdoor quoted me $187 to change it out. Caido, from Blue Electrical Contractors stopped by and I had him look at it. It was only a cover; Caido unscrewed one screw and the regular outlet was underneath. I could have done it had I known this. It took Caid 5 seconds to take the multi-outlet cover off and he didn't charge me a thing. Okay. This is ridiculous! $187??!! This shows me the technician from Nextdoor Electric didn't even know what he was quoting. I was speaking to Caido from Blue Electric about Nextdoor and how I will never use them again, but can't understand their great reviews. Caido was telling me that Nextdoor's reviews could be fake and/or purchased. I really am questioning these reviews. I will never have them do any work for me again. Go with Blue Electric the next time you need electrical work; I have used them for years.

Fantastic company. This was a small job but it entailed a risky approach to simply installing a…read morecover plate above a very high ceiling above a stair. Mission accomplished. This required very long screws that were not painted and this was handled as well. The second task was to repair/replace and existing fan, again in a peaked ceiling of about 14'. Initial job was to test whether power was reaching the fan. It was not. Net step was checking the switches and it was not. On to checking the switch which turned out to be faulty. Upon replacement, fan actually worked. I was very impressed that one of the owners and a helper showed up on time (acutally a bit early). Job required both a 24 foot ladder and a 16 foot ladder. Price was exceptionally reasonable (less that cost of new 400 fan I was able to return via Amazon. These folks are the true deal with service, great attitude and bi-lingual. Do not hesitate to hire these folks. Angel and his team are exceptional, quality human beings.
