I put in for some estimates from electricians and Jay Electric was one of the first to respond and could get over the SAME DAY, which was a huge bonus. The quote given was a touch higher than we wanted but we wanted the project done ASAP. Main negative was that the holes for the recessed lights were cut with a drywall hand saw, leaving a jagged edge that could be seen outside of the light's rim. When I mentioned this, I was told that the "paint had chipped" and it could be fixed when the ceiling was painted. I am not an idiot and in fact, I had to patch the jagged area before painting. I wish they just used a hole saw with a drill for a nice clean circle. Unfortunately I had forgotten that we in fact OWNED one that we would have let him use. All in all, we love the lights but wish the holes were cut better. read more

Ive used them several times for ceiling fan installation. Called them out to see why my sockets outside weren't working. They replaced the gfci socket and charged me $250 then they slapped one of their stickers on my breaker box without my permission. Great way to never get return business. read more

You might want to consider someone else. Hired this company to add a 240V outlet for EV car charging port in garage, repair an exterior outlet and replace LED ceiling lights. Also had technician install a few dimmer switches. Selvin seemed capable and got the job done but there were a few issues that at the time I decided I could live with. For example, he cut into the drywall before realizing he cut in the wrong location, the replacement LED cans did not match the existing ones, the dimmer switches were also not a match and dust was left in the garage. He also recommended getting a whole house surge protector which was appreciated. I hired Oscar with Right Pro Electrical Services to install the surge protector and that's when I found out what I had paid for. Oscar informed me that the wiring by Jay Electric for the outlet for the car charging port was incorrect. The technician (not Selvin, his assistant) used THHN wiring which does not protect the electrical conduit causing the outlet to burn out in less than a week. Jay Electric offered to send out a master electrician to observe the issues and make repairs but I declined because I have zero faith in the company at this point and don't want to have to spend more money fixing their bad work. Shout out to Oscar with Right Pro Electrical for pointing out the costly errors made by Jay Electric. You should hire them instead. read more

We were in a bind during a remodel, when we went to install the Double Wall oven we discovered the wiring in our 1976 home had a 30amp circuit to the old oven, but the new oven required a 40 amp circuit. Jay Electric was the first to respond to my Yelp request. They showed up the very next day, an hour early, they ended up having enough of the required wire on the truck. They had to run an new circuit from the panel which was behind the detached garage to the kitchen! They were magicians at fishing the wire all the way to the location of the oven, with zero required repair work!! When they were done you couldn't even tell they had been there, they even hooked up the oven and helped me lift it into the new cabinet without even a scratch. They are a class outfit, very respectful and ensured all the work was done per NEC Code!! read more

They arrived quickly and were very efficient and got the job done. However, I thought they were overpriced. I told him we had three outdoor outlets that were not working on the front of the house. Before even finding out the problem, he said it would be $220. As it turned out, they quickly identified a faulty GFCI outlet inside our garage that controlled the outdoor outlets, and they replaced the faulty one. It took all of 15 minutes. It shouldn't have been more than $150 at most. read more

I had a doorbell that was not working. I didn't want to mess with it myself, so I called Jay's. They fixed the doorbell, a minor repair, but charged me 220 dollars. I had understood that it could be up to 220 dollars, not that it was the starting price. They seem slightly predatory sales practices; they don't charge you anything to come out there and look, but if you have a problem, beware, they will take your head off. On top of that, the electrician had a heavy accent, which made it harder to understand over the phone. They fixed the doorbell but charged entirely too much for it. I won't use these services again, and I would not recommend it to anyone. read more

Hired them to fix my bathroom fan. Within 2 minutes of looking at my fan they said I had to replace it (it was old, seemed reasonable). They didn't tell me what they were replacing it with, but luckily I had photos of my previous fan to compare with. My previous fan CFM was 75 and they replaced it with the cheapest 50 CFM fan. I didn't notice until after when my bathroom steamed up more than usual. Called them up and they said they replaced mine with the minimum per code. I said I wasn't happy, but they said they'd replace it with the fan I'd want if I purchased it. When the techs went to install the 2nd fan they told me this was the exact same fan (it was not), and they asked how I knew the original they installed was 50 CFM and I had to explain it to them, which doesn't sit right with me if they're supposed to be the experts. I'd give them a worse review, but they made it right by coming back free of charge and reimbursed me for the cost of the 1st fan. Maybe I got inexperienced techs or caught them on a job they're not experts in, but can't say I'd recommend them to others. read more

This company has the best customer service I have ever experienced in my entire life !! Today I requested a quote / request for them to come out , and before I had the chance to put my phone down, I was already receiving a call from them, and the nice woman offered to send them out immediately, in which they arrived within 30 minutes of me requesting their service!! They quickly diagnosed the problem (a partial power outage that Centerpoint needs to come out to fix). The guys told me what to do, who to call, what to tell centerpoint, etc. super helpful. I don't know how they do with repairs, but what I did experience with them was 10000% the BEST customer service that was so fast, helpful, and easy for me. In under 1 hour I sent a request for them to come out, booking the appointment, them coming immediately to my condo, diagnosing the issue and providing me with details on how to resolve the problem. If I end up needing them to repair/replace my meter or anything else, this will be the company I use! Did I mention that their quote/diagnosis and trip out here cost nothing ?!
