1st time I brought my cat into a veterinary clinic. Before that, I had a Vet make house calls until he retired in the summer of 2025. Our visit was stress free from start to finish. My boy did his usual best to charm the Veterinarian and her Assistant. Inside, the clinic is clean and inviting. As soon as we arrived, we were brought to one of the examination rooms. This gave my cat a chance to get used to the sights, smells and sounds of the room before his examination and rabies vaccination. While there, my concerns and questions were listened to and addressed. I never felt we were rushed through during and after the visit. Also, when I emailed some questions I thought of the next day, I received a response in a timely manner with attached information i requested. The bonus is that the clinic is close by in our neighborhood so there's much less travel trauma time for my cat. We'll definitely go back there.​ read more

We just had our first visit to Modern Love Veterinary and Dr. Michelle Donald. While the reviews that led us here were mostly glowing, there were a couple that said their experience was rushed or impersonal. That could not have been further from our experience. Dr. Donald had reviewed all of Mabel's history, performed a comprehensive exam, and discussed her condition (Mabel had pneumonia - she's okay now). She was thorough and straightforward, didn't talk down to us, and made sure we understood everything. That's what you would expect from a good vet. What we didn't expect was that she took time to get to know us as pet parents. She was warm and friendly throughout, and spent probably double the amount of time we would have expected. This is the best vet experience I think we've ever had. read more

We've been bringing our pets (2 dogs and 2 cats) for the last 5 years and absolutely LOOOOVE Modern Love and all the vets we've worked with. We've now tried out several different vets, moved a few times and ultimately made our way back to Modern Love for their exceptional care, communication and commitment to all of our pet's health. They are kind, compassionate, love our animals as much as we do and very professional. That's not to say we have never had any hiccups or minor miscommunications, or talked to the occasional tired, crabby front desk employee, but those things happen everywhere you go! The few times they did, our pets care was still top priority. Modern love was quick to correct things and make sure our animals were thriving, above all else. They are timely, especially with email, as voicemail can get backed up. They provide helpful reminders so our animals stay up to date on vaccinations and they are mindful to keep cost as low as possible and will provide education on options that are cost effective and still meet the needs of our family pets. They go above and beyond to help us every time and have responded with compassion and care with emergencies and preventative care. They will also work with you if you can't get your pet in but have a video or picture. After medical issues and treatment our vet has always called to follow up and see how our animals are doing. You really cannot ask for more from a vet! I wish they worked with humans too! Lol We no longer live near North loop and are now in the West Suburbs but will continue to make the drive to Modern Love. They are more than worth it!!! read more

I'm so glad I found this place! I hope I don't have to move away for some time because I love this space and their employees. They adore my dog genuinely and really spent time with us whereas some other practices seem rushed and barely talk to you for 10 minutes. I work in the veterinary world so it's been hard for me to go to a clinic and not be able to be with my pets or be the one working on them. My dog and I are so grateful for Modern Love! Everyone who works there is extremely friendly and kind-hearted, and you can tell they genuinely love and want to help animals. They really make my dog feel welcome and comfortable - even for something as simple as a nail clipping. And even though it's in the very dog-friendly neighborhood of North Loop, there has never been more than one other customer while we were there...which is great so the dogs could keep distance between them and no one felt cramped or overwhelmed. The space is very bright, clean, and open. This is the only place I'll bring my dog for anything veterinary-related! read more

We needed to establish a new vet after moving back to Minneapolis, and I had admittedly been putting it off as our rescue pups have some significant anxiety around novel humans, especially those whose job it is to poke and prod. My fears started to diminish with my first phone call to Modern Love. The office staff assured me that they would take it slow and minimize aversive interactions as much as possible while still getting the basic examination needs completed and -ALSO- that I would be able to be involved and with my pups through every part of the exam. Bonus: we were able to get both dogs in at the same time only two days from the time I called. Great because, as I mentioned, I had been putting this off and the pups were overdue for their heartguard and in need of a renewed prescription for their anti-anxiety meds. *Whew* Ok. We got this. The appointment was a dream, which I nevereverever imagined myself saying following a vet visit with my guys. The vet tech and Dr. Donald could not have been more accommodating, calm, and gentle as they took their time to ensure that we were able to accomplish what was needed without pushing my pups over the edge. It is obvious that Dr. Donald cares deeply about every patient she sees as the time dedicated to each is well above the industry standard from what I have experienced elsewhere. She's an absolute gem. I feel like I won the lottery as we live only a few blocks away from Modern Love right now, but regardless of where we live in the future we will be returning for all of our pups' veterinary needs. This is probably the finest Veterinary Clinic I've ever to my cat to. The care was outstanding. The took such good care of my Little D. the tortie shell. Modern love is a great place to bring your pets. I have a dog that has a weak immune system and when he got severely sick with pneumonia, Dr. Jones was very accommodating and wanted to help the most she could. When it was time for my dog to see a specialist, she called around to emergency vets to find me one. Their staff is very helpful and kind and love every animal that walks through the doors! read more

Dr Michelle and her team are not the best with your pets. They are not good with handling pets with anxiety which is common and natural reaction when you bring your dog to a vet. Also the staff is not friendly and not accommodating. I would highly recommend researching other Vets in Minneapolis before bringing your pet here. read more

I'm 100% supportive of reasonable covid restrictions, am vaccinated and believe that unvaccinated people shouldn't be allowed in malls , bars, restaurants and event venues (sorry, not sorry if that offended you). That being said, this clinic's "covid" policy is ridiculous. You awkwardly hand your pet over and stand outside during all steps of the appointment. You're given some estimate of how long each step will be, but you literally just stand awkwardly outside without enough time to do anything else. There's not typically enough time to take a walk, grab coffee or get food. You stand outside and wait for whenever the clinic decides they want to come out and talk with you. If they have this policy, could they have put some damn chairs outside for their guests? Absolutely. The clinic is next to a restaurant with outdoor seating (which obv has put chairs outside for guests). But this clinic claims that putting chairs out for their customers invites "uninvited guests." Clearly that's an easy issue to manage - bring chairs out for guests and bring them back inside after the appointment or leave chairs out and ask people who aren't clients to leave (exactly what the restaurant next door would do). There's also very limited risk in having owners/pet parents in a small exam room, with everyone wearing masks. It's true that many medical clinics are limiting guests. Pediatric clinics aren't doing this. Parents aren't dropping their children off and standing at the front door until the doctor decides to bring their child out. Pets are not children - but pets can't ask questions or share info about their appointment. It's not like my cat ask the vet questions about her health during the appointment or report back on how it went (both of which an owner/pet parent can do if they're in the room). You're not there as the owner/pet parent to ask questions - as a result, you get less information, a worse experience and less value for your money. The service was fine. I appreciated the honestly from the vet - she admitted she had no idea why my cat was sick and no suggestions on what to do next. Maybe it's better to hear that than not? But standing awkwardly outside and getting worse service for the same price doesn't make any sense. Until that changes, pet owners/parents should go somewhere else. I would never come back and discourage anyone from going. Morale of the story - this is silly, you have better options, and you shouldn't visit this clinic until they take reasonable steps to adjust their policy. read more

She gave us an option of lapisophy for our Golden Retriever's spade which we never had before. I'm sure this clinic loves it, but that doesn't mean their policy 1) responsible, 2) needed (and effectively reducing the spread of covid) or 3) doing their clients/customers any good. Morale of the story - this is silly, you have plenty of options for competent vets in the greater Minneapolis area, and you shouldn't visit this clinic until they take reasonable steps to adjust their policy. read more

This is a wonderful Veterinary office. My dog is frankly petrified to go to the vet and they are so careful with her. Dr. Donald is very knowledgeable and kind as is the vet tech. They really care about my dog. I also very much appreciated how much they followed Covid regulations. They are the best. Sadly, I am moving out of Minneapolis and just hope I am able to find an office like this where I am going. I will miss them very much. read more

I cannot recommend a veterinary clinic or even business more that Modern Love Veterinary. They're pretty much my favorite people on the planet and the amount of love they exude for both people and pets is beyond imaginable. Wonderful wonderful people and extremely brilliant. I honestly rest better at night knowing that I have Modern Love aware of my pet's health and there for me when I need them. Cannot recommend more. read more

If you truly value your pet as a family member then this is the place for you. I've lived in more than one state therefore have had more than one vet. Dr Michelle is the best. You can trust her and her staff to always have your pets best interest at heart. Whether it's a new puppy or time for end of life you and your pet will be in good hands. read more

I highly recommend Modern Love to anyone in the North Loop area, or outside as well. Our dog has had a number of pRecious health issues, surgeries and behavior challenges and Modern Love went above and beyond for his continuing care.
