We went for a couple services, the manager and some staff seem nice. However, some of the girls were extremely unprofessional. 35 for nails should include soak, cut/file, cuticle clean up, paint : bottom coat, nail polish (cup the nail) finish with top coat, massage/oil. There was none of that. Just cut, poor cleaned cuticle, and only nail polish. The manicure of course didn't even last getting home. I also got a service done and the woman was on phone, didn't listen to manager. My eyes were burning so bad I just agreed to being done and we left. I feel bad for writing a bad review when manager seemed kind, but employees shouldn't be more concerned over their phones than paying customers. went for an eyebrow clean up before going on holidays and ended up with a horrible experience! one eyebrow is almost completely off! Then she blames me for not having a thick eyebrow on that side ... so it's my fault it looks like that ! and she wasn't even the one that did the job in the first place . After that she starts discussing it with her client in front of me making me feel like I'm totally wrong and belittling me with her client !!! Screaming O my god I do EYEBROWS all the time I know what I'm do!! After her recommendation when I get to the salon they say that they won't do anything but let's do your feet and nails! cause you had a bad experience only pay 50%! should of been a bit better costumer service then that ! and still was charged 70$ read more

I do not want anyone experiencing what I did at this spa! MODERN NAILS in village square mall!!! - I wanted a fill and a shellac color. I decided to come to this spa because it's closer to where I live now. This is how my first experience was: For one they rushed everything (which wasn't a surprise) but when they put the wrong color of polish on I informed them right away. They told me after a few coats it would be the one I picked out. When all the coats were on I noticed that it was so rushed that there was shellac polish all over my fingers. I asked if she could clean them up and she was not happy, started swearing and threatening me... She grabbed my hand hard and took the drill and cut me on purpose and I was left BLEEDING. I also told her the color wasn't right. SHE TOLD ME SHE WASN'T GOING TO FIX IT! I told her I wasn't going to pay because this is not what I asked for at all!!!! As a customer I think I know what I want since I'm the one paying for it! She took PICTURES of my face and told me she was going to call the cops! Still yet again, all I asked was for a clean up and a different color! This was the worst customer service I have ever had. So, first impressions are pretty important and as soon as you walk in you see boxes of sale items stacked on either side of the door (not welcoming or professional) and then the utter lack of clients and staff. So, ok... Maybe this is a diamond in the rough? Nope! I had an appointment to get shellac done, and I was asked to pick my colour. After you picked your colour you also had to find you color... (They had two large bins I had to look through to find my color) Seriously!? At that point I already decided that I was never going back. But, during the shellac removal, she caught my cuticle on every finger with the dermal tool. She was sloppy on the shellac painting, she (way too quickly) quickly shaped my nails, and rushed to get me out. The final issue was the shellac was so thin that the nail underneath bends super easy. Overall, do not go here! You will be disappointed and will have to pay for a fix. read more

This was just a terrible experience. We first walked in and it was run down and dirty. The towels were dirty, which left me wondering if their instruments were sanitary. My friend and I both had an appointment booked for the same time, but she did not get her shellac started till mine was finished. When asked to pick a colour, we went over and picked up the color wheels. Well they were not marked in any way which nail colour matched what nail wheel. So while my friend sat there watching me get my old shellac removed, she had to sort through all the colours trying to find what we wanted. When she was removing my shellac, she did not soak them in acetone but just used the high powered filer to get the nail polish off. It burned and she didn't even get it all off. Now the best part. My nails are CAKED on with nail polish. All 10 of my nails. She cut them too short (the first nail she did was fine, so I looked back at the TV and boom, my nice long nails are stubs!). I spent a hour at home trying to remove all the excess nail polish, but I'm just going to have to drive back to the south, where I know my nails will get done properly to get them redone. read more

Me, my best friend and her mother went here - it was the worst experience ever! Personally, I got a pedicure and asked for a design. They painted my toes and send me over to get my nails done and someone sat down (on the floor) to paint a design on my toes. It started out cute and she continued to add more and more and more on the toes, it was a black, white, yellow, gold, red, green and blue mess. I requested they take it off. I asked for a gel fill on my nails and she tried to give me acrylic several times - I asked for shellac too. After my fill was finished she started painting regular nail polish on them. She placed some decals on them - this was after the 3rd time of her painting my nails, at this point I was getting frustrated. She finished my nails and goes to put regular topcoat on, I asked for a gel topcoat at least and the nail lady pulls out the builder gel and smears it on uneven. All of the decals fell off and started smearing the designs. At this point I was so angry, I got up and was about to leave - I was not going to pay for this service. The ladies at the nail salon locked me in, and told me they would call the police on me if I left - I asked for a discount because I had massive amounts of hair and smudged nails. They refused to even give me a 5$ discount and forced me to pay over 75$ for the worst nail service ever before they would let me out of the store. I cried in the store knowing I would have to get all of my nails done over again and would be breaking the bank and the ladies just looked at me. Also, she took my phone from me to call my friends mom - yes she took it from me. I was appalled and she told my friends mom I was crazy and psycho. I don't totally know where to start, it felt rather unwelcoming. The place was rather unsanitary with stuff everywhere on the floor. I came in to get my nails redone and the woman just pulled off the remaining nails I had which was rather painful. Throughout the entire session she was on her phone talking with random people. Just when you thought things couldn't get any worse another employee approaches the one that is working on my nails and pulls out a bag of pills (I think it was ecstasy) to which she asked me if I use, then proceeded to offer me some. I seriously wish I was making this up or over exaggerating because it is beyond unprofessional and quite skeezy. As for the nails themselves, the woman did do a really nice job. :/ Over all, when you get your nails done in the ghetto you get the whole ghetto experience! read more

Just like the other reviews. I would recommend you to never go there. If you wanna save your toes or your hands from bleeding seriously don't go there. I went there with my friend to get our nails done. I went to get gel and this was my first time as well as my friends. I got powder gel done , and my friend got this acrylic layer gel ( I forgot the name) Once we were done. I saw how messy my nails looked and my friends , and the Gel chunks were stuck to the inside of my nails . They also did a really bad job applying nail polish . And guess what? THEY RIPPED ME OFF! Before I went in I decided to triple check the cost , they said its 35$ for gel , I then went up to pay . She said it was SHELLAC and I had to pay 45$ Wouldn't let me leave without paying that amount . Horrible service , and horrible job . Also recommend no one to go there. read more

Horrible experience. My daughter thought she would try them out for eyelash extensions..DON''T DO IT!! Firstly the lady took 2-2.5 hours, no place else she has gone ever took this long. Secondly the lady did not wear any type of protective gloves, thirdly way too much glue was used, and lastly, 3 days later 80% of the lashes have fallen out. Never go to modern nails. I took my mother there for a treat and they butchered her feet. They cut her toe and didn't apologize for hurting her. They put a cream on her cut claiming it would clean the wound. The cut ended up infected and much worse. I was upset and did not want to pay for this terrible service but they insisted we payed full price. The shop is very dirty, and I'm pretty sure they are not up to the health code. I have been getting my nails done for years and have never had them done so badly. Right off the bat, there was a bad impression of the place, as I watched the girl who was doing my nails use the same, unclean tools she had just used on a previous client. I asked for a regular acrylic fill with black gel overlay. The fill and shaping of my nails was less than subpar, but I accepted it. After over an hour spent on just the shaping (should have had my entire nails completed in that time span) they moved on to colour. I received 5 coats of "black" paint only for it to still be see-through. I asked three times for them to make the colour darker, as well as to fix numerous mistakes where it had not been painted, was uneven, was see-through, and where there was colour on my skin. Then, when they asked me to be drying them I asked why they were not in the proper UV light machine, and only in a heated one. They did not understand; they didn't even know what the correct way to cure nails was. By this time I had been in the shop for two hours, a completely outrageous amount of time for what I was getting done. At the time of checkout, I asked to speak to a manager but to no avail. I spoke to the one woman about all the things wrong with my nails and the time issue, she was not helpful. A second lady came up, whom I tried explaining everything to. I was ignored by her. She refused to look at my nails and repeated over and over "they are fine, I did a good job for two hours, they are fine, nothing wrong". I asked again to speak to a manager or owner or for their contact information and was told that they were away and had no contact information. The lady then proceeded to say she would call security if I didn't just pay. Which was very offensive to me, considering I was simply trying to have someone notice that what I received was unacceptable. Yet a third lady proceeded to the front to talk to me. I was hoping she would at least acknowledge that there was a problem. She was calmer and looked at my nails but still chose to see no issue and accused me of having no money. I let them know I did have money and would pay, but that I wanted the issue acknowledged and that I didn't think it was worth the money they asked. I ended paying $30.00 for the nails. The sign in the store says that what I was having done was $32.00. I do not believe the $2.00 discount warranted any resolve for my issue, as they still refused to accept that there was a problem. She offered me the chance to sit and redo them and pay $40.00 but after having been treated so badly and have them done so badly, why would I was that option. Again, I asked for the managements information and she said just to call the store, but that they are away and don't know when they will be back and cannot be contacted otherwise. read more
