It was my first visit. It will be my last, I was so excited to get my nails done for a trip. They look awful. Thick and lifted strange. I now have to get them taken off and redone somewhere else. I also had a pedicure done. The lady cut my big toe with the electric file while removing my old polish. It bled quite badly. I now have to watch for infection. I didn't complain because the management doesn't seem like the open minded sort. I don't like confrontation I will just never go back. I always try to leave a positive review for anywhere I go. horrible experience! I went for a meni/pedi today. Pedicure was good but I wanted shellac with some designs that I showed to nail tech and she said they don't have these colors. Then she proceeded with a totally different color. She didn't even try to match the color. The nail tech is doing what they like rather than catering to their customers wants. I would not recommend this place to anyone. Save your money and time and take your business else where!!! read more

The lack of communication. I went in with a design I found on Pinterest and all I wanted was the base coat to change from white to black, which just began to spiral. And instead of a design on the accent nail, I wanted holographic glitter. I left with a design that frankly, I'm not happy with at all. I comminuted back and forth with the nail tech, and by the end the girl who started doing my nails brought someone else in! The design is terrible, the length is MUCH longer than I wanted, and it was like everything I asked for didn't matter in the end. I am not looking forward to wearing this design around until my nails grow out. One of the techs voiced her opinion multiple times to me that she didn't like what I was getting done and wouldn't get it done. She wasn't even working on my nails. For the price I paid, I feel like it should have been something I was at least remotely happy with in the end. I'm also fairly sure my thumb nail is going to break or lift off before I get a fill, as I can see my natural nail under where a tip was glued on. Complete and total waste of money, in my opinion. I have been going here for years now but wanted to say a bit today. I had my nails done just yesterday with a shellac color change. I'm so basic that I don't even know the lingo :) I realized that something wasn't quite the same as past visits. I called in at 5:30pm and asked if they could fit me in as I felt a step was missed. it was a "come on in" I arrived and they were busy. i learned that with past visits I was also given a gel to help make my own nails thicker and stronger. I was fit in and left with a skip in my step. I highly recommend this team of professionals. Come in and enjoy their newly renovated salon. read more

i'm very upset i've come here many times, and they charge me different prices every time for a fill when i get the same thing every time. i've never questioned them until today I found it very strange they where charging 80$ for a fill and it was 80$ a full set last time so when i w questioned them they had excuses that didn't make sense, she admitted to making a mistake on what they charged me last time and wouldn't even refund me .... very disappointing because the owner looked me and shrugged her shoulders and said "oh well" ..... read more

I went in for a shellac color change and all looked fine until I got home. Three of my nails bubbled up and looked horrible. The owner said they could fix it for me only if I came in. I'm from out of town and politely asked for a refund since I wasn't able to drive back. He said the bulbs burnt out from the UV lights so that didn't justify a refund. Only if his girl didn't paint them properly. Either way it was the fault of the salon and I didn't get at all what I paid for. What made it worse was that they are able to do a refund but chose not to. Terrible customer service, my friends who live in the area will not be going back based on that!! read more

My mom, sister, aunt, and I decided to try this salon for pedicures as it is well priced, had good reviews, and was pretty central for everyone. Our first visit I got an Express manicure and a Signature pedicure... I'm in love! The service was great, the staff were all very friendly and welcoming. I'm so impressed and will definitely be back. My only complaint is that the lady didn't cut my toenails as short as I like, but they look great which is what matters I guess! Next time I will ask them to go shorter to make sure. read more

I feel the need to update this review. I was in a bit of a pinch for time and my usual nail salon was unable to fit me in for a last minute appointment. I reluctantly walked into City Nails & Spa and told myself I would just get a pedicure (even though I needed a mani as well). The staff welcomed me in and accommodated my requests immediately. The woman doing my nails was so nice and attentive that halfway through the pedicure I decided to get my fingernails done too. I'm very impressed with the results and I have to say that the service I received this time makes me think that they're really working on improving their customer service. The mani/pedi packages are a little weird, but they are decent priced and the staff are wonderful. I love that they don't yah u in and out like most places. They also constantly apologize if they have to answer someone's questions while they are working on u. I'm happy with my pedi and will come back again. read more

Ended up going here as I was in desperate need of a fill, and unfortunately I had previously had my nails done in a different province, but these ladies delivered! Hana was my tech and she gave me these beautiful mauve nails that I'm in love with! They are a little on the thick side of what I've experienced with acrylic nails, but Hana worked quickly, and efficiently to take my nails from meh to WOW! I will definitely be returning here as the hours are great, close to my house, on a bus route, prices are reasonable AND they have a loyalty program! Spend 40 per visit, for 10 visits and receive a free pedicure! Can't wait for my next fill! Oh might I add great colour selection too! The inside of this establishment is pleasant and blissful, music in the background, pedicure stations on one side and manicure stations on the other, and TV in the corner. Also since I came in without an appointment on a Saturday, I was surprised when I only had to wait 15 minutes to get in! Very impressed :) read more

Wanted to love this place as it is so convenient but I was failed, I got my gel nails removed and a classic manicure. My manicure was horrible my cuticles were cut in a rush and I'm pretty sure she didn't even do two of the fingers all well leaving one of them bleeding. After she buffed and shaped my nails she didn't even remove the nail dust on my fingers before applying the polish. I paid the 3 extra dollars for the massage which was pathetic she literally just rubbed lotion on me and called it a massage. Let's not forget to mention that there was three ladies working on 7 clients at the same time which means no ones service was done well. On the website and the brochure under "Mani&Pedi Menu" it says that the classic comes with a hot stone massage, scrub and hot towels so I thought I would have been getting that as that's what it says clearly. But, when I asked her why she didn't perform any of those services she said they were for the pedicure. Nowhere did it specify that they were for the pedicure only and if that is so then it shouldn't have been under the title Manicure and Pedicure. I ended up paying the extra $3, which isn't much but either way does rip you off, and also asking them to be a little clearer on the website and brochure but by the annoyed look on her face it didn't seem like she wanted to take that advice. I suggest doing a walk in and checking out their employee:customer ratio before committing because your service will be most definitely rushed and un relaxing. read more

WORST SERVICE EVER!!!!!!!!!! went in to get a mani for my son and a fill for me. we had an appointment so when we get there she seats me and tells my son it will just be a moment for him, one hour later they have proceeded to seat several walk ins and are still ignoring my son. when I ask the owner when they will get to my son he looks at me confused and has to try to get one of the THREE girls who are standing around a woman getting a pedi, to which NONE of them want to move to do my son so he finally gets frustrated that they couldn't be bothered to do the service we requested. by now I am so frustrated because the nail job they did on me was so bad, nails left rough and uneven and the polish job a five yr old could have done so I did not get my nails finished. in my opinion it seem they are VERY SEXIST, and do not want to service male customers. DO NOT GO TO THIS SALON IF YOU WANT GOOD CUSTOMER SERVICE, and a shout out to NAIL STUDIO who was nice enough and valued their customers enough that they ended up completing the requested services on my son and I. I arrived for my 11:30 appointment, and they seemed unclear on the service I had booked for, (new gel tips and eyebrow wax). I sat for 10 minutes at a nail station, before being presented with a plethora of colour chits, and had waited an additional 10 minutes after making the selection before a lady became available for me. She was quick at preparing my nail beds, but shaping was a challenge. The thumbs are somewhat bulbous, and the ring finger on my right hand is angled. I had asked for oval nails, but received a modified almond shape on all fingers after the first one that I confirmed was a good oval, (Almond seems to be the trendy shape now, but it's not practical for this working grandma, so I'll reshape it myself). Colour wasn't as requested, but still pretty. Where this lady shined was in waxing my eyebrows and upper lip. The lines are crisp, even, and it was truly painless. Overall, a pleasant experience. I had gone to City Nails twice before and the experience was awesome. My gel nails were gorgeous and I was super happy with them. I went back a 3rd time and a lady I hadn't seen before was going to be doing my nails. She was speaking to a co worker in a different language obviously about my nails and then asked me where I had gotten them done last, and told her "here." Long story short, my nails look awful! They are a simple French manicure and it's been about 3 weeks now and they are turning yellow where the white is. I did email the manager privately as I do believe mistakes can happen, but heard nothing back. SUPER unprofessional. I will not be back. read more

Unless you have an abundance of time to waste, I do not recommend City Nails. Their website and front door both say they take walk-ins - they don't. I walked in on a Sunday right at noon (when they open) and asked if they could do a quick fill. There were 2 clients in getting their nails done, I was told to come back at 4pm. Uh, ok. So I return at 4pm to find the waiting room packed. I stood there for 15 mins and wasn't even acknowledged, so I left. Maybe I'll have better luck making an appointment. Well, apparently they don't take those either. I actually scheduled an appointment and rushed to get there on time, only to sit in their waiting room for 45 mins. Clients who arrived 1/2 hr after I did were actually taken in before I was. When I was finally directed to a table, I sat there for another 15 mins before finally walking out. I chose City Nails based on their location (close to my house) and the reviews that I had read. My usual nail place is in Airdrie, they're fantastic and now DEFINITELY worth the drive. I will continue going to The Nail Bar. I know I'll definitely receive better service. read more

I tried this place out as it generally had good reviews. Never again. It would seem all of the good reviews are for a certain nail tech. I did not get this nail tech. I must say the lady was very gentle with my hands, that's the only good thing. Firstly I asked for shorter nails, explaining that I'm a cook and work with my hands. She left them very long and started being a bit rude when I asked for shorter. She did not trim them. Second, I asked for an almond/oval shape. She gave me coffin shape. I explained that I had asked for an almond shape and could she please fix it. She got very short on speaking with me, became tense and rushed her way through my right hand, leaving some nails kind of square and some rather pointy. I pointed this out and she did a better job of fixing the left hand. She would not fix the right hand anymore though. After all of this I was charged 65$. The Polish chipped off within a week. One of the nails broke in less than 2 weeks. read more
