I went in and got gel polish removed, a manicure and regular polish. I did not want to do another round of gel polish and I knew it would take time for the regular polish to dry. After she painted them she had me dry then with the little fan. (no one was using the table with the dryers, they had a bunch of product on that table). She told me about 10 minutes, I sat there a little longer and walked to the other side of the mall and went to the bathroom, dried my hands and smudged off. Went back and she said she would fix it. Waited because we had to be somewhere but told her I'd be back. An hour later I was still able to smudge it off because it was so thick. Went back and got the polish taken off, didn't do more polish because I didn't have over an hour to wait for it to dry, didn't think I could hold my hands that long by the little dryer. . I feel like my experience was not worth the $$. read more

If you are more than 5'7 don't try and get a pedicure cause the chairs are so old they don't go back far enough for you to relax. They don't use liners in their foot spas. Rude when I asked about it. read more

All the polish is dried out and old. The tech did not file or shape my nails or deal with the cuticles at all - she pretended to cut them but wasn't doing anything. The polish was so bad it was shrinking and chipping the next day. A waste of $25. I went back 2 days later and showed them the horrible work and they refused giving me a refund. Awful. The shaping of all the nails are slightly different (but noticeably different) and the polish is lump. Not even two weeks in and the nails are already lifting. After expressing my concern about having my nails done right they still managed to do a very sloppy job. Its been 3 days and 1 nail has broken (and i am not a very productive person with my hands) they look and feel like i need a refill already the nail polish they did my tips with are so uneven it looks like my 4 year old did it. My sister in law went 2 days before me and by her 3rd day she had a broken nail and hers looked just as mine does today. I do not recommend this establishment what so ever. I could have done a better job plus just to paint my 4 year old nails they charged me $10 plus $45 for the crap job they did on mine. Never going back!!!!!! Lesson learned read more

This was my first time going here. Felt like treating myself. I can't say I'm very impressed. The nail tech didn't take much time at all on my nails. Went very fast like she was in a hurry. I don't like the shape on a few of them my thumb nails bends down.. Also not even file job on top. I guess it isn't the worst I've ever experienced but I noticed the utensils were also covered in dust before she used them on me. I don't really like the idea of other people's nail dust being used on my own nails. read more

Never again! She put on the nail, slapped on the overlay and clear coat and was done. Total time in chair.....20minutes. Yea no. Decided I wanted a color. Asked for gel, she said no, to grab color off the wall. So I did. Slapped that on and was done. While nails were wet asked me to sign my card receipt, and of course got a smudge. That night I was just looking at them and it was just all wrong. Lumpy. Unattractive. So I went to Tina Nails and they corrected it for me for $18. Went back to Modern Nails asking for a refund. Even if it was just half of what I paid the day before. She remembered me, looked at my nails and said "no refund" DO NOT GO TO THIS PLACE!!!!!! NO!!!! NO!!!! NO!!!!! I've been here a couple of times over the years because it is cheap, convenient, and always empty. It has never been particularly pleasant - all the manicurists are rough with you while they work on your hands, and I often would leave with already smudged polish. But the recent visit here was the last straw and I am never coming back. This time, I went in with a gel manicure on my nails to have it taken off and a new one put on. They unnecessarily used an electric file to scrape the top layer off of the gel before removing it which hurt a lot. Then, rather than using cotton balls and foil to soak the gel off with acetone that only touches the nails, they made me stick my whole hand in a bowl of 100% acetone. The skin on my fingertips was white and totally dried out afterwards, and it's been a couple of days and the skin is still dry, irritated, and burning and itching on some fingers. They also did a ton of damage to my nails scraping the gel off. Had they done the acetone soak correctly and safely and for long enough, the gel should lift off of the nail in one big sheet. The manicure girl used a metal tool and her own sharp fingernail to scrape the gel off. We also used a card to pay there, and then shortly thereafter got fraudulent charges on our credit card. There's obviously no way of knowing for sure that this is where they came from, but they had the card in the back with their cash register messing with something for like five minutes before scanning it, and then swiped the card four or five times. I went here to this Salon yesterday for convenience, with it being a holiday and everyone else was closed. Just moving here, I wasn't sure how the service would be. I was highly disappointed. The girl did not file my nails down I had acrylic powder all over my cuticles. My nails were not smooth, they were all lumpy from the lack of smoothing out. She put five coats of acrylic powder on my fingernails making them very thick and when I told her they were too thick she said she would file them down and she did not. She was rushed and very unprofessional. I would not recommend this Salon. read more

I took my granddaughter in for her first salon manicure and I had one done at the same time. She had gel and I had regular polish, as I have a sensitivity to gel polishes. After a very fast, shoddy manicure experience, I sat with the fan on my nails for 30 minutes so they would get dry before leaving the salon, even though the manicurist said 5 minutes was long enough. By that evening, bubbles had formed on my nails, looking very unsightly. I went back the next day and she said I chose a bad color. (Sorry! It was from the salon's stock!) She did a quick fix with some polish remover and a new coat of a "better color" she chose. So far, so good...until today, 2 days after the original manicure. My granddaughter's gel polish came off in the bathtub! $48 dollars for 2 inferior manicures, and lesson learned. Never go to Modern Nails if you want a quality manicure. read more

I took my 2 daughters here for a special treat. We all got pedicures and I got a manicure. They were by far the WORST pedicure & manicure I/we have ever had. They didn't even sand one of my daughters' feet. The polish was smudged. I bought charms for their toes & they all fell off within an hour and the remaining polish was chipped and coming off within a couple of days. Complete waste of money. Very disappointed. read more

Went here with my sister in law for our girls night out. Not only did we wait an hour, the manicurist was very rude to both of us. As she was filing my nails, she hit my skin multiple times and got mad when I pulled my hand away. A week after we got them done, one of my sister in laws nails fell off. The only reason I think mine haven't come off yet is because I just got a fill. I usually get my nails done at Tina Nails and I know now not to go anywhere else. I will never go back there. By far the most HORRIBLE nail service I have ever had! I asked for a full set which I received but the filing was atrocious and when asked to correct the issue the lady stated she thought it looked fine and she would wear it herself. I then asked her again to re file the nails because they were crooked, she filed them with an attitude and they still were crooked. I was the first nails she had done of the day with no one waiting so there was no rush! They look bad and I feel horrible which is not how you should feel after "pampering" yourself. My 14 year old daughter and I went to Modern Nails yesterday while I was in town visiting family. I got basic white tip acrylic nails and my daughter got acrylics with polish. Hers look great, but mine do not. The lady was very nice but she seemed to be in a hurry. Mine have bubbles in the clear polish and grooves/bumps throughout them. This was likely the worst manicure I have ever received. The manicurist sat down and took out the clippers and randomly started clipping my nails, then started filing them. They are so crooked I could have done better with a blindfold. He was seemingly somewhat distracted; he kept taking sales tickets out of the drawer and putting them in his wallet, then taking them back out and shuffling around in the drawer. He stopped working on me while he used a calculator to add some tickets, then left me and took the tickets to a woman, presumably the manager, whom he then engaged in a heated debate in their native tongue. The woman's little girl was there too and she even got involved in the argument. The only other customer in the place left. The manicurist then came back and furiously started filing my nails again. They were, and still are, a crooked mess. He did not even buff them before he started slapping on the polish. He did both coats on my right hand without ever touching the left. Then he put two coats on the left hand and turned on a little fan for me to hold my hand in front of. After about 30 seconds, he turned the fan off and put two coats of clear top coat. He was sniffling the entire time he worked on me, presumably to keep his nose from running. I sat with my hands in front of the fan which he turned back on before moving on to some new customers who walked in for pedicures. The polish was glopped on so thick on my nails I could have sat there for a week and it would not have been dry. I had ruined two nails by the time I got to my car. This was my second bad experience at this salon; the other was a while back when I got a pedicure and the manicurist actually had my toe bleeding from trying to remove a piece of my toenail. I decided to give them a second chance. Shame on me, I won't make this mistake again! read more
