Made an appointment the day before and they were able to fit me in. Staff tried to be friendly, but they did not speak very good English and it was evident by their body language (gestures toward us) that they were talking about my sister in law and I in their language which I found rude. I got a full set and the man did a very nice job, but he cut me a few times! My nails still hurt 3 days later, but he felt bad and only charged me $41 (not sure what the price was). The lady in there did a design on my nail which was very nice. My sister in law got gel and it looks very nice. Overall, not the worst place I've been- but also not great. I got my nails done, full set ombré on Jan 9 do amidst 2 months and I have tried soaking and so much more. I got 5 off and it was pure pain. The 5 that are still on are so grown out and painful , like throbbing and no sign of loosening. I like my nails to last but not like this. A small nail shop and the one man there is completely terrible. He messed up my sister's nails so bad. I went there the following day because I had a gift certificate so I might as well use it. I walked in for a simple pedicure, and the lady said they cannot do it for me at this time. She didn't offer me to wait or make an appointment nor were they that busy. Not a great experience. The process the man used to do my dip nails didn't seem right. I've been doing my nails at other places for years and this was just odd. He used the electric file on my cuticle's and it hurt. I even said ouch at one point but he kept going. They were left sore and red. My nails have an odd shape too. I called about 20 mins before i came in and asked if they had time for a full pink & white set and pedicure. They told me to come in immediately. When i got there around 4pm, I was told they only had time for a pedicure. A woman walked in about 10 mins after me and asked for a full pink & white set. She was instructed to sit and wait. That woman received the same exact service I was told they didn't have time for. My pedicure was ok. The tech barely exfoliated any dead skin, but she was extremely sweet. I've had some unpleasant experiences with this business in the past. One where the owner did a poor job on my nails and when i politely asked him to fix it, he told me "this may be the last time I see you in my business." I was so disappointed that he acted that way, after I had been a regular customer for years. I have not been back until today. Since my previous encounter happened years ago and for the sake of convenience, I was hoping I could get my nails done for my birthday since I currently live in the area. Unfortunately, I was disappointed again. To be fair, the woman that did my pedicure was so nice and sweet. However, this experience has proven to me that this just isn't the nail salon for me. My acrylic nails were done beautifully. I asked for them to look natural, and they are some of the best nails I've ever had done.

I had an appointment and 40 minutes later I still wasn't seen. This wasn't the first time this has happened. When I asked when I was going to be seen I was told after a certain person was done with their service. I don't even know what they were having done and how much longer it would be!!! My daughter wanted to get her nails done for her 16th birthday, and she wanted to come here, because this is where she usually goes with her friends. So we decided to have a girls day. She got a full set done, and I just got a gel mani. The people who did our nails were very nice. She had the owner, and a woman who helped paint her "Smiley faces" on. Both did a really nice job. I had an older man, and he was fantastic. He took his time, and made sure to perfect my nails. He even massaged my hands with lotion afterwards. It was a very relaxing experience. I really liked my manicure. It lasted about two weeks. It would've lasted longer, if it wasn't for my nails growing. I was quite impressed. Next time, we are going to get mani and pedis. Prices weren't bad either. Very competitive pricing compared to the other local nail salons. I also want to add that the place was very busy, and we didn't have to wait long at all. So I'm only giving this 2 stars because I have had good service in the past. This salon was way better when Anna, Hannah, Jason and Kenny were the only ones working there. I had a HORRIBLE experience with a new guy. He kept putting the solar powder on my nails and wiping it off, MULTIPLE TIMES!! Apparently he used CUTICLE OIL instead of ACRYLIC.‼ He clearly had no clue what to do and put the ACRYLIC over top of my Solar. It was so thick and awful looking and that was his way of covering it up. No. Take it off and get your shit together. He was nervous and shaking. The acrylic is very thick, the color is uneven with streaks and some got stuck on my skin and some spots are missing on the sides. These photos are ONE DAY after getting them done. I don't have the energy to complain and argue with them. After being a faithful customer for years? I'm now going elsewhere. I am going to try a new salon. read more

This experience was bad... they had a sidewalk sign that said" gel polish $10." Sounded like a great deal so went inside. A man tolk care of me.. tried to file nails and I said just want the 10. polish only.. when I was done and went to pay he said 20$. I pointed to sign and said that's all I want. He said that's not the price and I said that's what the sign says. Then he said only that price if you get a pedicure??? I said that does not say anything about that... Very misleading.. me and my friend called the day before to make an appointment and we got there and waited almost an hour until we got started on. Jason (the owner) did give us a $5 coupon for a pedicure which was nice but still. the place was clean, and they did good on the pedicure but the guy that I had was rude. He cut me multiple times and I would flinch because he kept hurting me and he kept getting an attitude because of it. My nails hurt for a few days after I went there and I just don't think that I would come here again unless I absolutely have to. Hi, I went to Modern Nails in Lower Burrell on 6/9/19, and it was by far the worst experience I have ever had. The worker who did my nails - an older male - was previously doing someone else's toes and massage on the legs. He did not wear gloves on his previous client. As he came over to paint my nails, he did not wash his hands. VERY UNSANITARY! Also he used the same nail filer on me, as the person he used before on the other client. VERY VERY UNSANITARY. To add on, he was coughing and sneezing over and over again! I asked for white gel polish and half of my nails are not painted the entire way, instead it's half of my nail, very clumpy, and not at all what i asked for. The sign they are advertising outside of their place says "Gel Polish $10", when I was charged $20. I would never ever recommend anyone to enter this place. Such a great experience. The technicians don't bother you while they work, they take their time, they go back over polish mistakes with a fine brush and remover, the chairs have awesome massagers, they use a skin exfoliator tool, and they finish it all up with a hot stone leg massage. I have no problem with them breaking, chipping or pulling off and I love the way they always look and Ann does a great with pedicures she makes you feel so relaxed. Great pedicure - rough salt scrub, hot stones, hot towels wrapped around my legs for $25. Then off to the nail station for a full set, gent had no clue what he was doing when attaching nail tips. Then I got to sit for 25 minutes while the woman finished another customer, even though I was there first. Royally upset and get to deal with three bloody cuticles now. I went to Modern Nails yesterday for a mani-pedi. The pedicure was well-done by a nail tech who had provided services 6 weeks ago. I requested a shellac manicure which became a total nightmare. The polish the tech was using was not staying on the nail. It was not looking good. After several attempts by the nail tech to fix the issue by instructing me to place my hands under the drying element, I knew that this disaster was getting worse. I told the tech to stop and to remove the polish so that I could leave without a manicure. The polish was caked and the tech began to use a nail sander to remove the polish. My fingers were burning and I kept pulling away. There is a burn on my right pinky from the sander. The tech yelled to the owner when I declared that I was not going to pay for any services due to injury and trauma that I was experiencing. The salon owner yelled "F--- Y--!" She then attempted to remove the polish from my toes! I told her to"stay away from me". I then left the salon and told the tech and the owner that I'd be reporting them to the BBB and the Chamber of Commerce. read more

I thought modern nails was dirty. The tub for the pedi was not working; my feet sat in cold water for 20 minutes or longer before someone worked on my feet. I was debating to myself should I stay or should I go; wish I would have gone! Oh yeah they could not find the color nail polish I wanted. The girl that worked on my feet and nails had a cold. Let me tell you the worst one of my life was at Modern Nails on Leechburg Rd in New Kensington, PA. Honestly, Edward Scissor Hands would have done a better job-uneven, too short, too long, etc. I had a women do my nails; there are two guys who work there and one is the manger I think. But I'm thinking a women right-knows how to do nails. Wrong! Lesson learned- I will never every patronize this place. read more
