The owner, Moe, is a good dude. He's friendly, efficient, and has a knack for conversation. Beyond that, he gave me the best haircut I've had since my guy Joe left Firicano's in Boston's North End. I showed him a photo of what I was going for and, like a savant, he reproduced it exactly. He's like an affable Edward Scissorhands. It feels increasingly difficult to find a good barbershop in Boston these days, with all the "men's salons" popping up at $40 a cut. I've tried a few places in the Dedham area and have not been impressed (mostly inexperienced barbers). Until Charlie's - it's a classic barbershop experience where you can get a great cut under $20. He was friendly, conversational (without talking your ear off), and clearly an experienced barber. There were only a handful of reviews on Yelp, but I'm glad I gave it a shot. Just noticed (sadly after two days) that they didnt even cut the hair on the back of the neck below the head. This is literally the first time that I have seen such poor job on the hair cut. Update 10-21-18: updating it to 3 star again as the owner followed up personally which shows the commitment. Additional stars are just for that. Started going to Moe after moving to this area...I find that going to the barber is usually really stressful and have never liked any of mine. Moe takes his time, he does a great job, and seems genuinely interested in making you happy! Very talented guy! UPDATE: I've been seeing Moe for 4 years now and I am a gay male. I was lucky enough to discover Charlie's recently after searching far and wide for a barber in the Walpole/Norwood area. Mo, the owner of the establishment, is absolutely awesome. He's a great guy who will make you feel welcome and of course provides a professional haircut. Also, his prices are very reasonable given the high quality haircut you receive there. The shop is a great place to hang out and they set up their hours so that it's convenient for folks who work 9-5 jobs. Went in for the first time for a cut and a shave, after pinpoint precision on my haircut producing exactly what i wanted, the chair leaned back and a hot towel wrapped my face, got a great shave with some old school techniques, then started the aftershave process: cold towel and aftershave. Was hoping for some Alum to disinfect properly, but the aftershave had alcohol in it. Needless to say this will be my new go to barber shop. Loved every moment of it. read more

Great place...barber is very friendly. Ive shown him a picture of what I wanted done and he said he could do even better...and he did! For $35 less! He also does a straight edge shave which is nice because not many suburban barbers do those. $20 for a haircut and $20 for a shave? Well spent money for sure. read more
