Rafting family trip We went on a Saturday to canoe. We had two adults and 3 kids in our group. I asked what they would recommend based on the river conditions. I was told we could not fit all 5 of us in the canoe we would need a raft. We decided on the 3 mile trip since it was supposed to take 2 to 3 hours. It only took about an hour. For the price I would recommend taking the 7 mile trip since it was a lot of money for a short period of time. read more

My family and I wanted to enjoy a nice weekend camping at the Mohican adventure campgrounds but due to the Canadian wildfires tried to cancel due to the air quality and simply just ask for a reschedule date to another weekend and time didn't even want a refund. Unfortunately the front desk lady was very rude basically yelling at us and telling us she's the highest step we can go cannot speak to a manager and will not under any circumstance cancel or reschedule our trip. We Felt that we weren't asking for any special accommodations. Just a simple reschedule of weekends due to being in affected populations, our self with severe allergies and recent congestion along with our dog who is shorter nose, who would be traveling with us. We received very poor treatment from staff and no accommodations made. We will not be ever attending this campground again. Especially when the front desk receptionist said she did not care if we left a bad review and would not put a manager on the phone. This campground does not care about your health and safety only taking your money and nothing else. They would rather you burn in the fire than reschedule your weekend or give you a refund. No customer service and no accommodations! read more

Had such a great time! Was a little bit chaotic when we first checked in and selected our watercrafts because the lobby area is also the gift shop, would be better if they had some rope and stanchion or system for a line. You have a choice between kayaks, canoes, tubes or a full raft like the one we chose. Once you have selected and paid you wait for a shuttle bus to take you down to the river. We then waited in line to launch our vessels and paddled away. Had such a fun time even with the water levels low in some places. Once we had finished, they helped us out of the water and we were back at the facility. They had all sorts of other activities like a rope course and the price was reasonable. Would definitely like to return on my next visit to Ohio. read more

We had a blast floating down the river with our family. We are planning another trip next year. Not sure why it took so long to discover this place. We took rope to tie our tubes together and also purchased a floating cooler to hold our beverages. Make sure to pack snacks!! Great time! read more

Used twice so far this summer. Nice place for activities on a camping trip. Staff is nice, but there are some areas for improvement. Tubes are not kept clean with several downright nasty. Finding one that is full of air can be challenging sometimes too. If they're busy, you will wait a long time for a bus to get back after your trip. Overall I would use this place again for the go carts, mini golf and adventure park, but for river trips, I might consider another option or with a little research, have found put in and out locations to just use our own tubes and have better nicer tubes. You're paying a pretty steep premium for essentially what is just a tube and a ride back. Cost of one family trip would pay for your own high end tubes that you'll then own. read more

Wowza, what an experience. From waiting about an hour in the scorching hot sun and dodging other patrons ignoring social distancing rules to floating down the river with friends, strangers, good music, and drinks in hand. This experience was all over the place. For starters, you cannot reserve or do anything in advance at Mohican Adventures. While this would help with the large crowds, long lines and wait times, they've decided not to go that route. Trust me, I called and chatted with them and was told I just need to show up and hope that I can get a canoe/kayak and on the river by noon. Coming from over an hour away, this was a little nerve racking but my friends and I decided to risk it. We arrived around 10 in the morning to find the largest crowd I've seen since before March. Pro tip - Drop someone off to wait in line and have them wait while you park the car and unload. There was one person in front of my group holding the line for 30 (at least) young girls there with their entire volleyball team. Needless to say when 30 people joined the one person waiting, people in line got a little upset. Anyhoo, my group of four people were the only ones in the entire place wearing masks. Staff, nope. Other patrons, nope. It was wild and I'm so glad I was being safe. When we finally got up to the counter in the office we paid quickly, were handed a slip of paper, and told to find our line to get on the bus. My group went with the 15 mile route. This took roughly 5-6 hours and was not the busiest choice, which was nice. Instead of waiting in another long line, we were able to get on a bus right away. We were told that social distancing would not be applied due to how busy they were (facepalm), again I'm so glad I brought my mask. After grabbing our life jackets and rows, getting instructions on how to tell how far we've gone, etc., we finally got on the water around 11:30. Our canoes were in good condition, the water was low but not too low, and the weather was perfect thanks to the trees that shaded us most of the way. Overall, I really wish there were more COVID precautions. I went to another place in Hocking Hills in June and they had no problem enforcing social distancing, requiring masks, allowing reservations for staggering visitors, etc. After knowing what a safe experience is like and comparing it to this one, I plan to stick with my previous water adventures business. read more

Relatively inexpensive & a fun way to spend the day! I originally planned on renting kayaks, but it had stormed pretty heavily earlier in the week so kayaks were unavailable due to higher than normal water levels. We decided to go rafting instead (the 7 mile) & it was loads of fun. The river has a current that carries you through - minimum rowing is required besides steering. The weather was fantastic, the views were great. No issues with bugs in September. Staff was nice - after you're finished, they'll help you pull the raft up & drive you back to the parking lot. All in all, fantastic way to spend the day. They do military discount. read more

This is our second visit to Mohican Adventure Campgrounds. Note: some of the reviews on here are for the canoeing and aerial park that is an extension of the Mohican Adventure. My review is on the campground for the most part. Your experience can vary depending it you tent camp, rv or cabin. Both of our experiences we tent camp and both times we had a wonderful time. The first year, we camped in the wooded area. Our site was a decent size but, I do want to note that there are some other sites that are very small. Either way most of the sites are only one tent per site so if you have more than 2 adults and two kids you should either rent more than one site or make sure you get one of the larger sites. The other thing to note is that the wooded sites are in the mountains and some of the sites are not close to the main bathrooms. We enjoyed our site and had no complaints. This year we went with a larger party so the open camping area was more convenient for us. We had a great site! Close to the bathrooms and large site. Picture shows site 402. The first thing I want to rave about is the bathrooms!! Super modern and clean, even as the weekend brought in the crowds the bathrooms were always in decent shape. This is super important to me as you can see. :) the Mohican Staff did an excellent job keeping them clean! The kids had volleyball court, Basketball court, corn hole, horse shoes, playground and ponds to keep themselves entertained. They have indoor pool and paddle boats but the were closed due to covid. We did not to go on the to rent conoes or do the aerial course that is available across the street for an extra money bc we were able to enjoy other things in the area that was more cost effective and equally as fun. However, My sister did take the kids to play mini golf across the street and she said it was nice. The Mohican State Park is right next door and had a nice hiking trail for free. We visited Lake Pleasant Hill Valley $10 parking and nice lake to swim and kayak and we found a farm near by that offers horseback riding for $25 an hour. Overall, we really enjoyed our Mohican Adventure weekend. We found lots of things to do in the area. The site was perfect for us and we plan to be back. For RV folks, you might find the sites to be small and back to back. Little privacy. read more

They pack their buses to fill every single seat and despite what their website says they do not mandate masks inside their buildings, or on their buses, or on their docks. My family and I stay in Frye's cabin annually, and we have always enjoyed our peaceful stay. This year was different. The cabin was perfect and relaxing, however the parking was awful. We spent quite a bit of money to stay in the cabin, so I would expect to not have overflow parking near the cabins for privacy. Instead, after our afternoon float, there were several cars on our cabin rental property and we were greeted by several drunken jerks causing problems ON OUR CAMPSITE! Their kids running behind our cabin. What a mess. I'd suggest allowing the cabin visitors to have their privacy, and only allow parking up on the hill IF needed. We notified the person on the golf cart who was going to mention something to management. Please take note of this, and respect future guests by blocking off the cabin areas that WE PAID FOR so other vehicles aren't in our campsite. read more

I went on a rafting trip with 5 adults and 4 kids early on a Friday morning and we had a great time. There are 3 concession stands along the trip for snacks, drinks and restroom stops. The river was clean and the kids had a great time! I would do this trip again anytime, just NOT on the weekends after reading the other reviews. read more

I've gone here to rent canoes, kayaks and tubes ever since I was a kid. My family used to go when we were kids all the time. The last time I was here was with some of my family last Friday. Buy your tickets before 11:30 AM and that gives you enough time to make it all the way down the 15 mile trip in time before close at 6 or 6:30pm (sorry I don't remember which one it was). 12 bridges crossed in total on this trip. The river was pretty high so we never drug the bottom even in the canoe with 2 people, 2 medium sized dogs, a medium sized cooler and 2 book bags. We had a blast. I personally really like to take a bud up river/creek (whichever it may be at the time) and float down into where I parked. After a long day in the sun it's nice to unpack the boats, clean up the dogs and ourselves and figure out where we're going to stop to eat on the drive home. There is a shorter trip to take and I know that trip is one where you get in and float down where you'd have to look out for signs the whole way stating where to meet for pickup. I like a more relaxing trip. There's hoses that we use to spray down the pups before loading them into the car in the cement columns/platforms. Sorry I have no idea what to call them. They're used to spray down the boats so they're next to the trailers before you get to the picnic shelters. My family and friends really enjoy this company because getting through the ticket lines, knowing where to wait for shuttles, loading on and off and employee interaction is straightforward, quick, efficient and nobody is ever in your business. DO NOT LITTER. Bring extra bags to collect and take your trash and whatever else with you. The river and banks looked relatively clean but do your part and clean up after yourself. Nobody else should have to do it for you and I don't want a place like this ruined from people who didn't care enough. Anyways thanks for reading. Hope this is helpful. :) read more

The staff was great, them the facility's and the logistics deserve A five star. But we waited two hours in line then another two in line after the bus ride. This river is no place for a family getaway. On the river it's a crazy crowed party. The farther you travel down the more the drugs and alcohol seem to hit people. Im almost sure we caught a contact from all the smoke. It reminded my wife of downtown Akron at 2am. Having said this it would have been crazy fun if we left our kids at home. This is not a escape to nature but a night club on the water. read more

My boyfriend and I went here at a busy time on a Sunday. The service was excellent and staff were helpful. It was a streamlined process that went quickly and smoothly. As someone who works in public health, my biggest complaint was the lack of adherence to Covid19 Guidelines. I didn't see any staff with masks on, no signs encouraging masks or other Covid 19 precautions, and there was no effort to manage social distancing in lines or busses. Overall 4/5 stars. read more

I have only done the 7 mile canoe trip, but the rest of the activities here look like a bunch of fun also! For $25 per person you can rent a canoe or kayak. I tend to go on a holiday weekend such as memorial day, July 4th, or labor day, when the river is crowded and everyone is having fun. It's a great time! read more

We did the 7 mile raft ride it was awesome the kids loved it ages 8,13, and 15, played miniature golf and drove go karts! The two older girls did the aerial climb and loved it! We understood that the river finally being able to be rafted this past weekend and the last weekend before school starts was why there were so many people but we did not pay to have kids standing in the river spraying us with squirt guns or to throw water balloons at our family and raft. And at the end of the run and back at the office come to find out that our cooler, we weren't allowed to have in the raft, was then stolen from us under the supervision of the staff. This experience was one that will never be forgotten as it was pretty awful. read more

Very disappointed today. We brought a group of 17 from our church for a teen outing. We chose the $55 Adventure Package with a canoe trip, go-karts, and mini golf. With our group the package came close to $1,000. The canoe trip was great and we enjoyed the mini golf as well. However, when we went to the Go-Karts at 4:07 we were told that starting today they closed at 4:00. No one had informed us of this prior to this or we would have done Go-Karts before Mini Golf! We had no warning whatsoever and now our group of 17 were stuck with no Go-Karts. Things happen, and I understand that sometimes it doesn't work out. However, I would have expected some type of help from the staff. Instead, the manager refused to help in any way. She offered no refund or assistance in any way. Her only explanation was that some of the staff were new and must not have known to inform us that the Go-Karts were closing early. We live nearly two hours away and are now stuck with 34 worthless coupons. Most of the 17 are teens who have no way to drive down here. The canoes were nice, but it's very frustrating to pay $55 and get so little. Very poor customer service and a shortsighted policy. read more

My friends and I were looking for a good time last weekend and we opted with Mohican Adventures. We took the classic fun package which cost $38.00 (plus tax), a pretty good deal for all you get. We rode the go-karts which was a blast, went miniature golfing, and took the 7-mile raft trip down Mohican River. The staff was very friendly and helpful. This is a photo of the small area we had to set everything up. So the entire plot was prob 8 feet wide and maybe about 20 feet long. Which if you have never been actual camping they might be able to convince you that this is normal...it is not. There are SO many tiny plots because they just want to fit as many people there as they can with no regard of the space and experience for customers...so you could hear every single persons conversation because they were about 3 feet from you for the next plot. They originally told us we would only be able to fit one car in the lot and we would have to park the other two cars in the designated parking area A MILE FROM OUR SITE AND WALK BACK TO THE SITE...WHICH IS ALL UP HILL. Im talking like mount Everest hill..steep as heck. We managed to fit all three cars on the lot without taking up more then two feet of the designated camping area. Now I don't know what kind of tents most people camp with but we had four grown adults in a ten person tent because we had air mattresses in them and they said you can only have own tent per site... Like what. The bathrooms were at least a quarter mile from our site which is a hike downhill so coming back up is just ridiculous. It's about. 6 minute walk to the bathrooms which I think is just ridiculous for how many people and how high up they put people. There needs to be more bathrooms accessable and closer to each section. Also, apparently the cool hangout spot to play wiffle ball and everything else is in front of the bathrooms..Some good things...the bathrooms were actually clean which was nice...yeah that's it. We were charged 80 dollars for this pathetic plot of land and we left a day early because we couldn't do anything that we had purchased we had to move our tent so it hung off the hill just to set up the corn hope boards for a couple games. We purchased a net to set up to play volleyball and badminton which im assuming you can guess how that went....it didn't. We were I formed there was a volleyball net up down in a sand area past the bathrooms but there was always a ton of people already playing on it we never had a chance. Overall, would NEVER recommend this campsite. I will continue to go to pleasant Hill or some camp site that actually cares about customer experience instead of fitting every person they can in the area. read more

Navigating a river full of drunk idiots compiled together on tubes with no end in sight is not my idea of a fun time, neither is almost getting hit with rocks, hooked by a guy trying to fish and pelted hard by strangers with water balloons. The river was kind of scenic but filled with so much trash - countless beer cans, eating utensils and even a recliner - and so many dumb people. I'm not even exaggerating. My husband and I did the entire 7 mile trip in almost an hour and a half cause there was no where to even enjoy the river alone or stop for a break from the countless rafters. I guess I at least got a work out.... Never be back. read more

The canoeing was OK, and the river was relatively clear, but I had to take off a bunch of stars for the competency (or rather, the lack thereof) of the staff. I went to Mohican Adventures as part of a 3-day school camping trip to Mohican State Park, which is located nearby. We did the 7-mile canoe/kayak trip, and we thought it started off well. The lady with short hair at the front desk said, "Turn right. Always turn right." We were going to Frye's Landing, where we were told that we would be picked up. And so we did. At the first fork, we realized we were going upstream, and the water was so shallow at some points that we had to get out and push. And push and push and push. So 1 1/2 miles from the fork, our teacher decided to call the place. The lady said that she meant, "First turn left, then turn right." Oh. So we turned around and went the 1 1/2 miles back to the fork and we kept on going, this time on the correct path. My partner and I ended up capsizing, but that was by no fault of Mohican Adventures. I think they should put signs on the river to tell you where to go to get to a certain destination. At Frye's Landing, we learned that the bus was only taking us back to Mohican Adventures, not our campsite, which would have been only a 10-minute extension. So we had to wait for 10 minutes with no chairs next to the bathroom. OK. Our teacher went in to speak with the lady, and she didn't even apologize. Seriously, we were boating from 10:45 am to almost 3:00 pm! Let me rephrase that. SHE DIDN'T APOLOGIZE FOR MAKING WHAT COULD HAVE BEEN A 2.5 HOUR TRIP INTO A TRIP THAT LASTED 4.25 HOURS!!!!!!!! Yes, we were canoeing pretty slowly. BUT STILL! read more

I'm torn between 3 and 4 stars. We had a ton of fun on our canoe trip but the river was pretty polluted (lots of beer bottles) I felt it really took away from what could be such a beautiful place. Also, several people on the river had giant water guns and were shooting them at other canoers / kayakers. We had to tell them to please not bc we had small children in our our canoe. Also the bathrooms on side were not the cleanest (I know it's a campsite) but in addition to our canoe ride we did the go karts and the putt putt. We didn't do the aerial park (although it looked really fun) bc we didn't have tennis shoes. Hopefully they get someone out there to clean the river up its a shame people have to pollute. But overall a fun day out for the family. read more

HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE with Kate at the front desk. We drove over an hour to get there to Kayak. Walked into the lobby and we were behind a family of 7 who were checking-in to get their kayaks. We (party of 2) waited patiently for them to finish their transaction. When they finished, we approached the desk and told Kate we wanted to rent two kayaks. She told us no because it was 2:47 and we had to sign up by 2:45. TWO WHOLE MINUTES of us standing in line behind the people in front of us made her DENY us service. We explained to her that we drove over an hour to get there, and just waited in line behind a large family, and we were there on time! She REFUSED to provide us service and kept smiling with a very fake apology saying sorry, and reminding us that we were two minutes late. I asked her to call her manager and she refused. I asked for her managers number and she refused to give it to us. I asked her for her managers email address and she refused to give it to me! We were going to spend over $100 at this establishment and she refused us service based on TWO MINUTES, that we spent WAITING IN LINE in the lobby right in front of her. We were the last people there. There was no one behind us. She could have EASILY asked us when we walked in if we were there to Kayak knowing the cut off time was approaching. Instead, she watched me walk in, watches us wait in line behind this family, and then as soon as we walked up she said - sorry its 2:47! LIKE WHAT! We have been standing here for 5 minutes! What kind of customer service is this?!?!?! We were there on time, no one was behind us, we drove an hour to get there and waited in line behind a large group with her saying NOTHING to us. It seemed she just wanted to pack up for the day and had no interest in even trying to help us. After I was in tears a visibly upset about this, explained to her that this was not professional, she handed my a pamphlet and said I could call the number at the bottom of the page. I went to my car and called the number, and SHE ANSWERED THE PHONE! Unbelievable! She could not get me directly to a manager. I will be calling them non-stop until I speak to Matt, who she said owns the company. What's even worse is that when we were finally leaving the parking lot, we noticed some of the family members that were in front of us in line (who were lucky enough to get their kayaks) were still in the parking lot getting putting their belongings in their car!! They weren't even down by the water yet! That was so infuriating to see because she made it seem like there was no way we could still go because we were 2 minutes late, meanwhile they weren't even rushing to get to the water because they didn't depart until 3pm. I called back after hours and left a voicemail, as well as leaving my name and number with Kate at the front desk (which I'm sure she just threw away) and one has called me back yet. They WILL be hearing from me about their RUDE employee. Frankly, this was made even more uncomfortable for me because I am a woman of color and the people she helped in front of me were white, and it seemed like she had no desire to help me at all. Just had a horrible feeling leaving there, which is so unfortunate for this business owner. read more

Mohican Adventures offers a plethora of entertainment for the whole family: canoeing, kayaking, tubing (all down a lovely lazy river), putt-putt golf, go-karts, camping, etc. My group floated down the river on various implements. They offer both canoes and kayaks in either single or double size. If there are a lot in your party, look into the group rate (applicable for 12 or more) and you can save a couple bucks. The river is absolutely gorgeous. You'll be there with a lot of other Mohican-ers, but it was still wonderful and relaxing. Bring your sunscreen; much of the river is in full sun, and it takes a while to go 7 miles (the short trip). The long trip is 15 miles. There are some "landings" along the way where you can stop and buy food and drinks. Lots of good sightseeing along the way; lots of local flavor. read more

If you are concerned about Covid, do not use this Canoe Livery. They make no effort to have folks wear a mask on their buses, in spite of their claim that it is required. Really great place for some outdoor adventure! This weather this past weekend was absolutely perfect and made our trip that much more enjoyable. To start the day we went on the seven mile, two hour kayak tour. Get there early! There were already a ton of people on the river, but when we got back, the lines to get canoes and kayaks was super long! Get your river adventure out of the way before moving on to something else. The river is great, and thankfully it is wide enough to accommodate a lot of flotation device traffic. On the seven mile trip there are two snack stands right on the river, super cool feature. I wish I brought cash, but I missed out! After our kayak trip we went across the street for some yummy lunch at Trails End restaurant. After lunch, we headed back over to the adventure course. This was so much fun!! It is brand new, and although I was terrified, I felt completely safe. The course is relatively new, and the obstacles are challenging, but a total blast! read more

To keep it short - don't waste your time here, save yourself the hassle and go instead to River Run for canoeing or putt putt at Der Dutchman. This place employs unkind, discriminatory staff who need to be better supervised. Very poor customer service and a lack of clean facilities leave a lot to be desired after visiting. I took my daughter to go canoeing here recently on a Sunday late afternoon. We only saw one other couple launching at the same time as us. The website contains Covid procedures and says that masks are mandatory on the bus ride back to parking. The bus was completely full and several people were allowed to get on the bus with no masks on. The river was crowded with intoxicated individuals, some were obnoxious, especially on the bus ride back to the parking lot. The canoeing itself was fun. The equipment was well maintained. If you are looking to float around and drink, don't mind the crowds, and do not have a compromised immune system, this would be a good option for a canoeing experience. If you are looking for a quiet experience, best to look elsewhere. read more

Perfect for myself and children ages 12, 11 and 6. We have camped 2-3 state parks per year the past 3 years. First time staying at a private. There is a difference for the added cost. Well worth it! Pros: - Awesome tent only area (with power sites too) - Great views - Trails and right next to state park - Cabins situated in awesome local - Good playground.
