Review update: Received partial refund following complaint…read more Mostly a pleasant stay, but... see below. 1) I made a mistake about the start date of our reservation, so we set out a day early. On the way, I discovered my error and started calling the office to see if they could accommodate us anyway. I was calling within their stated office hours but only got voice mail. I left a message, but also called repeatedly, hoping to get a human. An emergency after-hours number was mentioned, but they had not supplied us with it. Eventually I gave up and secured a last-minute reservation at another RV park close by. We were at Lake Wapusun for a week and NEVER received a call back, nor mention of my message. Did the on-site staff bug out early Sunday afternoon and then erase my message to avoid discovery?.... 2) Our on-line reservation was supposed to be full hook-up, with water, electricity, and sewer. Our site did not have sewer hookup. Asked about it and was told that only seasonal campers get sewer hookups. There is NO mention of this on their website. I do not know if this is an intentional misrepresentation, or simply an oversight. It was incredibly inconvenient as partway through the week we had to use the general campground sewage dump, which meant uncoupling all our hookups, driving to the dump site, draining everything, then re-leveling our RV, and doing all the hookups again. I THINK THEY OWE US A PARTIAL REFUND BECAUSE WE DID NOT GET WHAT WE PAID FOR. And then, it was Saturday night! Oh. My. God!!! They have a makeshift stage and bring in local(?) bands to perform. The level of amplification is horrific and overwhelming! It echoes all through the campground with no escape!! The noise started around 7 p.m. and continued PAST 11 p.m, which is their stated "quiet time." (Which they claim is strictly enforced; I beg to differ.) People in cars and golf carts paraded through the park, yelling and singing at the top of their lungs until after 11 p.m. Had we known to anticipate loud, raucous behavior there, I would have selected a different campground. We left the next day even though we had another day in our reservation. The staff we encountered in person were consistently pleasant and helpful. Weekdays were quiet. Dogs are allowed and there are roads/paths nice to walk. You wouldn't likely want to swim on the beach due to all the geese and goose poop (it's just nature, but, ick), so a swimming pool would be a nice addition. It looks like a good place to camp with children as there is a large play area with activities kids love to do. The camp store had limited selections, but did supply a couple of items we needed at a reasonable price. The area features rolling hills, lots of Ohio farmland (surrounding dairy and hog farms supplied punguent aromas at times), wineries, and Amish communities. The City of Wooster is not far away, offering mid-to-upscale restaurants, interesting shops, and The College of Wooster. Nice "college town" vibe. Overall it was a decent experience, but we will not be returning.

That said, the layout of the campground could use some improvement. Unfortunately, the restrooms are placed in a way that encourages other campers to cut directly through campsites to get to them. We had multiple situations where kids were running up the hill into our site and even coming around our camper and truck, which was unsettling, especially since the parents weren't paying attention. It left us feeling pretty uncomfortable and put a damper on what could have been a perfect experience.

It was attached to another unit with a shared parking lot. Upon entering, we instantly felt like we were in a log cabin in the woods. A little kitchenette as we walked in, a dining room table, a nice living room to start with. Off the living room were two bedrooms. And there was one large bathroom with a jacuzzi tub. The living room had a gas fireplace and nice sized tv. The couch was pretty comfy although the recliner on it was broken. The place was just rustic and beautiful. I loved all the woodwork and the ceilings. The jacuzzi was perfect for relaxing. I used it twice in our overnight stay. A few suggestions I had after staying here: ceiling fans in the rooms, a fridge with a freezer for ice, and maybe a chair or two outside the cabin to enjoy the view of the woods. Honestly, if it had one bedroom, it's perfect for a romantic getaway. Two bedrooms seem too large for an intimate space with one bathroom. We did check out the trail in the woods before it got dark and that was a pleasant surprise. Unfortunately, it's winter here and it rained the next day or the outdoor fire pit would have been nice to enjoy too. Our hostess did provide us with a little container of ice when we checked in inquiring about ice. That was very kind and helpful. We're definitely keeping this place in mind for another getaway weekend. Very relaxing.

There were 4 food vendors (the warm apple dumplings with vanilla ice cream was amazing!!!!), music was great. It was a really good event and I would go back The negative... I bought my ticket online about 6 months early for $54 but it's actually $50 if you pay cash when you arrive. I got there and the head lady said that my ticket was already scanned and to get in I would have to buy another ticket. That would be $100 for a one day bluegrass entry. After 1/2 hour of her saying that I had to have sent my ticket to somebody, which I didn't (that would be stupid and makes no sense) she finally let me in after making ne feel like I was a scumbag trying to cheat the system. I will NEVER buy a ticket ahead of time to the Mohican bluegrass festival. Note... I've never had problems with tickets at any other bluegrass festival.

We both are done with state parks. Mohican Wilderness is our go to campsite. Dont fight with packed loud state parks. Go here. Trust me. Please see the pic with the sign "Quiet Refuge" if this appeals to you this may be the campground of your dreams. Pros: They are deadly serious about not being inconsiderate. Even during the day. Want to crank your radio? You will get told to turn it down so it cant be heard off your site. *I* will be the person that reported you (after I told you once you are annoying me) Staffed really well Office staff was very accommodating and professional. Constantly doing maintenance on the property. (I hear chainsaws and lawnmowers far off in the distance!) Put your trash in bags by the roadway every hour they come by and take it. Spots are clean - Spacious - and did I mention quiet? For a campground with 250 sites they have 7 pump out stations. The pump out stations are setup great too. Didn't need to pull out the long hose. water pressure was VERY high which was great for back washing my black tank. Shower houses are pretty convenient Discount program for subsequent stays all the way to 30% off. No cellphone service We did the 5 mile Kayak trip on Monday and it was nice. Because of where our trip went it was clear of other people on the river. Everything they have is well maintained. From the Kubota/John Deere Zero turn mowers to the Ford Transit vans they use for the river trips. The whole place looks clean and inviting. Cons: No cellphone service. Wow the pit toilets are horrendous. I mean seriously. WOW. Dual seats? lol It is FAR from everything- This might be a Pro.

This place books up so you better plan ahead!…read more We booked this place a few weeks ahead of our trip and luckily had a room for two nights instead of the three over labor day weekend, but our fault for not planning ahead! The ROOMS We stayed in the Stables, in a room with two queens, we just ended up pushing them together in the middle of the room, which worked fine! The room itself is huge, nice big bathroom as well, with a big jacuzzi tub, so that's fun! The decor is nice and nicely diplayed. TV could be bigger to fill the wall, but is a fine size and we didn't really come to stay in the room & watch TV much anyways. I like the thoughtfulness of the two mini dasani waters in the mini fridge! That is super helpful bc the faucet water tastes very earthy. Not enough outlets, I will say that much. Need a power strip or something b/c the outlets near the beds are just kinda far from the bed and the outlets closer are used by the bedside lamps. So just kinda an inconvenience, but not a big deal. The TV and coffee maker also can't both be plugged in a the same time, so again, not enough outets it seems. The TV itself ... needs replaced. For the love of technology that thing is ancient! The remote didn't work well at all, it was the kind that has a million buttons and you have to figure out which buttons turn on the TV and which buttons turn on the actual service that allows you to watch the TV lol oh sheesh. Plus YOU CAN'T STREAM! We had to use our laptop to watch what we wanted to b/c the TV said it needed an ethernet cable to get hooked up to internet. So I did feel like I was at my grandmas house in terms of the TV technology, watching dish available programs like NCIS and the Drew Barymoore show.. -___- This was my actual one main gripe about the room and stay itself. Like the bathroom mini toiletries available. They def seem high quality, so that's nice! Like that the room comes with mini travel size shampoo, conditioner, lotion and a few makeup remover wipes as well as has larger size shampoo, conditioner and body wash attached to the shower wall. The towels could use some fabric softener, they were definitely stiff and rough. Toilet paper was angel soft, so that could be higher quality. Very rough. So it seems like some little details are thought of while others might be overlooked. The Stables themselves are in a quite good location actually, I do prefer how it is a bit away from everything and has super cute little seating area with string lights behind the building! WITH a little walking trail that circles around and up to the pool house. The CASTLE The Castle itself is super cute, I love how there's tons of paved walkways around the entire grounds. LOTS of beautiful plants and flower beds all around the grounds. The aesthetic is just beautiful. The lobby has coffee, tea, snacks and drinks for sale as well as some small nick nacks and toys as well. I DEF took advantage of their reasonably priced mini wines and sodas to grab for the room. AMENITIES Great amentiites, not too much not too little. Not too many amenities to make it a kid-palooza, which keeps it nice and quiet at pretty much all hours. We were here on a Labor Day weekend and it seems like everyone gets out and about to go hiking and do other things throughout the day time. We chose to stay on the castle grounds the entire stay, which was nice to not have to drive anywhere. Love that there's pickle ball courts, lots of paved walkways to get some exercise, nothing is tooooo far away from each other to feel like an actual workout lol. I love that there's a pool and hot tub on site for all cabin use. The mercantile shop attached to the grill is a nice touch! Also love that they sell lots of quirky nick nacks + local beers in single cans + the local wine as well! Maybe if there were just like one or two more little things to do on the grounds it would be perfect for those that really don't want to have to drive anywhere once on site. Maybe a few oversized yard cames somewhere, a lawn chess or ... some other little things to keep the castle dwellers occupied in the quiet time on the grounds. The Copper Mug itself was really awesome, so they'll get an extravagant review separately! But very happy with them, especially as the only restaurant available on site and most likely the best thing within anything close to a short driving distance. Overall Great stay! Few recommendations for little upgrades, just to put the cherry on top of the "luxury" adjective used in the description. The person working the front desk was friendly and looked like she was doing 3 jobs at once. The bartender was fast efficient and made great cocktails. Some of our concerns go to more managerial issues. As an example, the heat in our room did not work and our room was as cold as the outside. Being middle of January we were literally sitting in our rooms in hats, gloves and coats. The staff did bring up some space heaters to help raise the temperature, which eventually worked. The wine pairing dinner we attended was just ok, but at 70 dollars a person I would expect more than using small plastic cups for the pairings. The food itself was really good, so my compliments to the chef. If the room price was more reasonable and not 450 per night I would be less critical. The cost just didn't match the expectation

This was a last minute decision to plan a week or two in advance. I called for two days, but they…read moreprovided me a deal for 3 days and I accepted the deal. When you drive to the location, it's easy to locate. You drive past the winery, and go to the end of the hill and you will see a sign that says Carriage house 1 & 2. There is two carriage houses that share a pavilion at the bottom of the back yard. The place is beautiful inside. At the top it has a large living room and kitchen area. They have a restroom on the main level, a porch with seats and a grille on the main floor. Upstairs there is a little nook where seating is available, 2 bedrooms and a master bathroom with a jet tub, and shower. The lower level has a bar, yes a bar, and a center section that allows you to huddle, bathroom, and 2 bedrooms. Outside of the area is a lower porch, which has a hot tub. Warning about the hot tub, when you first get in it, it's 120 degrees. Take the top off and let it cool down. It will cool down a lot and feel much better over time. It's nice to relax with the tub. They have a lower section that has a fire pit and seats available. In the back of the house there is trails which has a broken bridge. We went through the stream to get to the other side. I have a bad knee, but made it through fine. :) If you are seeking Internet usage, this is a bad cabin to get access. There is no Internet at the cabin, that's a good or bad thing. In downtime, we are used to having Internet usage. However it's tough when you want it and can't get it. Verizon is the better service, but I had no access. However some mornings I'd wake up with some notifications that went through some how. If you want Internet, go down the drive way and you can obtain a little access, exit the driveway and walk to the top of the hill and I've picked up a great signal there. If you want better access, go out to the Indian Bear Resort over near the lake, but walk towards the winery but stop in the center and the service is perfect there. I've added a image of where that it's good at. My only ask or recommendation to Indian Bear Resort, maybe offer Internet service. It would be nice and helpful, but I understand being off-line can be a request and need as well. Now the lake area is pretty nice as well. Lots to do up there. You can get on kayaks, small boats etc; It allows you to swim and or boat around. This is nice. The only downside is the days that we went had a large group that would "HOG" all of the boats and would leave with a mess. Overall it was a pleasant stay and nice to get away after all of the COVID quarantine. I highly recommend coming here. My family had the most amazing picture perfect peaceful getaway at Indian Bear Lodge. We had the…read morebeautiful cabin that fit all of our family, with everything we needed. We loved spending time around the pool table, hot tub, and on the deck enjoying the serene setting. The pond was everything we wanted and more with kayaks, beautiful for swimming and sitting by and enjoying the beautiful water. So thankful it was close to home, yet was the getaway we were looking for. The staff was incredibly helpful and got us wood for fire and were available for all our questions and needs. Absolutely recommend!
