HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE. We love to try different places and decided to try this campground out early May. We have been to many campgrounds in and out of state and this was by far the worst experience. We booked along the river despite the reviews of being able to get up the hill if it rains. When we checked in, I voiced my concern about the full rainy weekend we had ahead of us and camping down the hill. She stated..."You should be fine". She should have never let ANYONE proceed down the hill and should have offered another campsite at the top. We proceeded down the hill only to sink in the yard and our 2500 in 4 Low, could not get our ToyHauler out of the mud...twice. It took a large bobcat to help give us enough boost to get out of the hole we sunk into. Lesson Learned. DO NOT CAMP HERE IF IT RAINS. Let me give you our review other than being stuck within the first 5 minutes of getting to our site. Once able to get the Hell out of this campground, we did. No refund and hopefully they use our money and our friends money to get some gravel for their roads and campsites. We had 5 campers with our group and thank god we stopped 3 of them from even making the drive to this campground, and stopped the ones that showed up right behind us, from bringing their camper down the hill where they would have been stuck with us. 1. Almost all of the sites are grass, not gravel. 2. The hill to get to the river sites (200s) washes away when it rains, despite their crew that "fixes" it when it rains. On the way down the hill, the road was so washed out, I thought for sure we were going to lose our camper over the edge. 3. Most all of the roads back to the campground and down the hill are wide enough to get ONE camper. God help if another vehicle is coming the opposite direction. 4. The mosquito population was HORRIBLE. While standing outside talking with our friends that came down the hill to help us get out of the muddy mess we found ourselves in, 100s swarmed and bit us. There is not enough mosquito spray to keep you from getting carried away. 5. The outhouses were overrun with bugs and mosquitos that it was difficult to even use them. They would fly in your face and up your nose. 6. If you camp at the bottom, the sites are very large but bring extra long plug and water hose as you also share with your neighbor. read more

Great for group and family camping! We usually do a big family camping trip. Since not all family members have campers it can be difficult to find a campground to accommodate. They have a large camping area for groups with electric and water that you can rv or tent camp. Plus lots of different sizes cabins a short walk away. You can also rent canoes for the river right from their location and they transport you up the river. Since they canoe a different section it is usually less crowded. You just have to be careful bc parts of the campground are hilly and can be tricky pulling your camper around. read more

This place is a hidden gem!! The roads there are a bit sketchy so be prepared if you are towing a large travel trailer. The staff was kind and helpful. The grounds were so peaceful, especially the sites by the river. I love that nearly every site here is shaded and the sites are decent sized. Camp Toodik is a well maintained, clean, family campground. The owners are super nice and helpful. Always willing to help to make your visit perfect. I think they offer a nice variety of activities and the swimming pool is great on hot summer days. There is a small game room, a rec room, putt putt, playground, and plenty of hiking trails. Two very clean bathroom and shower houses are well kept. If you are looking for a family campground, this is the place for you. read more

Camp Toodik - Campgrounds Near Me - Loudonville, Ohio

This place is run down to say the least. The "putt-putt", "shuffleboard", and "horseshoe" area is overgrown and hasn't been cleaned up in what seems like 10 years. We weren't even able to use it! The bathrooms were extremely sub par compared to other campgrounds in the area. If you are a tent camper, I do not recommend. Spend a couple extra bucks and go elsewhere. read more

The name *alone* makes it a winner (...or should I say wiener?) I have to admit--when we pulled up to this campground, I did a total double-take when I saw the name. And yes, it sounds just like it's spelled. In combination with it's kick-ass/hilarious name, this place rocks it. Super family-friendly and close to any and all outdoor activities in Mohican. I think what I liked the most is how Toodik is a middle-of-the-road kind of campground. Cabins and campsites secluded enough to feel like you're roughing it, but close enough to feel like you're not alone in the middle of the woods. A huge part of the whole camping experience is the community of it all. That's another reason why this place is great. Not only do you sense the "family" vibe when you check in, but everyone seems to be super social. We stayed a year or so ago and there was a Halloween parade for the kids, so cute! This particular time we chose to stay in a cabin for the weekend, which was surprisingly nice! All the amenities, fridge, stove, microwave, bed, nice bathroom, porch and fire pit. Although, I would love to come back to tent camp. It was a little too cool in the season to do much of the fun, summer activities by Mohican, but there's a nice river to fish and some great hiking trails. Overall, a great, reasonably priced campground, especially in the summer and early fall. Can't wait to come back and do more exploring! read more

Not a great place or a terrible place. Just OK. We stayed at site 46 with our friends on site 45. This was really nice, as we both had lots of nice big trees and shade. We both had plenty of space and space around us. It was not far to walk to the shower house and I didn't use the shower house, it looked like it was in bad need of a redo. In order to get to the camp office we had a nicely mowed path and didn't have to walk by the crowded tent sites with cars parked on both sides. The pool looked nice, I would like to have used it but there was a weird fully-dressed man sitting at one of the tables which creeped me out. It looked like a good place to meet with friends and family as there were a lot of people there; it was a holiday weekend. The basketball court was sand. The playground was from the 60s, very old with an old-fashioned merry-go-round. There was green space and nice places to walk the dog. We were not able to canoe because water was being let into the river which made it too fast. Our friends went with a different outfitter and said it was too fast and not worth it. It would have been nice if the website was updated to let us know that we could not canoe. The camp store looked good and they had some nice activiites planned that we didn't participate in. Just depends on what you want in a campsite. Not nearly as nice as an Ohio State Park campground, but very different and good in its own way. You can walk to the river from here down a steep gravel road but the river was muddy and gross because of the water release from the dam. I think that was the reason. Anyway - not a bad place or a great place. read more

I've read some pretty bad reviews about this place and I'm not sure why. Our experience was one of the best as far as camping spots go! We tent camp and had a primitive spot. The location was absolutely perfect! Peaceful, clean and large! The campground itself was so quiet and scenic. We will for sure be back!! Sooner than later!! read more

Luckily for this camp and unfriendly owners our time spent at Mohican Adventures was able to redeem Toodik's shortcomings. If you've been to any of the campgrounds on Wally Road (as I've been for the past 21 years) you'd be horribly dissatisfied by this Children-Of-The-Corn-ish campground. The facilities are worn and to me there's a reason as to why they were they were the only ones with open sites this past holiday weekend.. The staff was fine until we became engaged with the owners, who need to work on their customer service/social skills. There are valid takeaways from this for anyone who hasn't been to this camp. Lot sizes. There's a small area for non-permanent campers. It's a straight road with 30' lots across from each other, there is hardly any room to maneuver a camper in there. I have my CDL and pull trailers regularly, maneuverability was not fault of my own. Run down facilities. If you plan on using the rest rooms try to avoid this. A cultish environment. If you're not a regular here count on feeling unwelcome and looked down upon. I generously gave two stars because I hope to see them change the culture and experiences into a positive one. I'd recommend: Smith's, Arrow Point, Wally World, or Mohican Reservation. At the minimum you'll feel good about your stay and interactions with the staff. read more

I stayed last Labor Day weekend and had a wonderful experience. Most recently I stayed over 2019 Memorial Day Weekend and had the worst experience that I've ever had on a camping trip. We chose this campground because they have their own Canoe livery. They didn't have it opened and had many excuses, water too high, not sure if there are downed trees and so on. Well come to find out that all the other local liveries are running. Camp Toodik doesn't have the staff to run as of this time. They don't have the staff to keep other campers in line either. There were about 8 campsites across the way from us that were unruly, loud and vulgar all weekend. The last night of stay they finally told them to quiet down. After this weekend, I would say not the best place to bring young children, if you have to listen to vulgar language from other campsites 24 hours a day. I'm not 100% sure if I will come back at the end of the season as planned?? read more

This campground is in a fine location, but the management is a 0/10. Me, along with a few friends stayed at this campground. When we left we were told that because we didn't at least have one person there over 21, we weren't to come back. 4 of our friends staying there were 21 or over, we were there celebrating our friend's 22nd birthday. We were also charged an extra $188 for fees that were undisclosed. I am going to guess that because we were in our early 20s, they thought that we were going to be trouble makers, when all we did was sleep and wake up early to go floating. read more

This review is not like the others you will read. So the boys and I had planned a 4th of July getaway to celebrate my birthday as well as the independence of the United States of America. God bless the USA. So let's begin. For security purposes I will not reveal my friends identity and will refer to them by their true nicknames. Camp twodick was not our first choice we had stayed at multiple other mohican campsites without as much as a warning. Camp twodick was our last resort because all the other sites were completely full. Let's start at the very beginning. Myself "Chicago typewriter", and my good friend "clipper", had booked two spots at camp twodick. We were told that the holiday weekend requires a 3 night stay. All of us being working men had to work July 5th a Friday. So off the get we were charged for a night that we could not physically attend. But it was no big deal because we were looking to celebrate our freedom. So now let's fast forward to our arrival. We checked in and it was made clear that all site attendant had to check in. I had rode with my friend "big Nag", and we were the first to the camp. Clipper arrived shortly after with the camper. And let me tell you getting the camper into position was a nightmare. There were campers and vehicles all squeezed into very small campsites. Clipper has a 25 ft camper and if it wasn't for friendly neighbors moving vehicles and clipper attending many bus rodeos for his job, "a school bus driver", there's no way we could've maneuvered the camper into the spot. Off the get the boys and I were crackin some cold ones to celebrate this great free country. We quickly realized the camp twodick owners or workers had a stank eye for us. We were being watched like your speed when passing a cop. We then got all set up. I believe any music of any volume is strictly forbidden in this campsite as we were later to find out. Big Nag had brought a speaker to play some freedom music, music we played consisted of Willy Nelson, Hank Williams jr and sr. and many others of classic country orient. As we got settled in others arrived, including Bed Sheets, wings, lil Po and Codine colt. We quickly discovered there were hoards of Boeing 747 sized mosquitoes at camp Twodick. The night came and half the campers had gone to sleep. Around 1 am were were told to quiet down and were sternly judged for drinking at this hour. It was understood that we were to loud and quieted down. There were no further warnings. Just the one. The next morning had arrived and being a hard working group of guys who help pay for the people on welfare we naturally wake up early for our typical 7-5 or till the jobs done day. Around 8am we were softly playing music and having some brewskis. Half of the group had prior plans and had to leave Saturday. The rest of us were ready to celebrate our freedom. We packed the coolers to the top with cold cans of freedom, and headed to one of the many mohican river rafting livery's. Which is a freaking blast by the way. We had a great time on the river and arrived back to the campground around 3:30pm on Saturday. All of us being tired from the sun and paddling our raft like when Washington crossed the Delaware on Christmas morning, took a nap back at our camp twodick site. We were awaken to a sheriff knocking on the camper door. But before I go there I must mention that it had been raining for roughly an hour before the door knock. When I sleepily stepped out of the camper there was roughly 2.5 inches of water pooled on not of our campsites. I looked as if Franklin Delano Roosevelt himself had ordered the TVA to construct a dam on the grounds camp twodick rested upon. The tent codine colt was to use was submerged. But back to the sheriffs arrival, after about a 5 minute conversation we concluded we were being kicked out without any further questions. Let me remind you we were only asked to quiet down one time. There weren't an other warnings. We were not given any time we had to leave immediately after we cleaned up. This all took place around 6pm Saturday. Hats off to the sheriff for being very kind and protecting this beautiful country. Moving on I have to point out everyone had been intoxicated on the river and now we were being told to drive multiple vehicles out of the campground, including one with a camper being trailed behind it. If it wasn't for the nap none of us could have legally driven. Some of us at the 6 o'clock time did not feel safe driving. The people of camp twodick had no regards for our lives and others on the roads, as long as we were out of their campground. This post is not meant to bash camp twodick, but if you are trying to celebrate America, crack some cold ones with the boys/girls and listen to classic music camp twodick is not for you. I recommend you take your business to one of the many other campgrounds of the Loudonville area. read more

I wish this place would invest their profits back into their business. The bathrooms are filthy, the playground is a disaster (one set is steel from the 1970s, the other is wooden from maybe the 1990s and is rotted), the dirt roads need graded as they are washed out and full of rocks (asphault would be nice). Surprisingly the pool is well kept. Additional investment and effort by management and this could be a pretty nice place. read more

This campground is nothing like the website shows! First, don't get fooled by the pool. It's the size of my closet, with absolutely no chairs to lay on. Second, they do not have grills. They don't make this clear on their website and I guess camping to them, means, cooking food on an indoor stove. We improvised and took the oven rack out and put over the fire pit, to actually have a camping experience and we didn't get our security deposit back because of it. There was absolutely nothing wrong with the rack, it's just another way for the campground to make more money! I will never being camping at Camp Toodik again!!!!!!!!!! read more

I do not normally do this kind of thing. But because I was so disappointed in my stay, I created an account just to counteract the one positive review this campground has. The cabins are trashy. There is nothing to do. There is nothing outside to cook on (we are camping aren't we?!), and the attitudes of the employees were terrible. The pool doesn't provide nearly enough room for everyone on the camp ground to enjoy. The only pleasant experience was the canoe trip. I would never recommend this place to anyone, and I'm surprised it doesn't have more reviews. The attitudes of the employees alone is enough to scare me away. A friendly "hi" from my family and I got a dirty look in response. That was the attitude the whole trip. This location has great potential, hopefully the staff can get it right. read more

Camp Toodik is the best! It has clean bathrooms, a pool, and wonderful walking paths. My kids love the playground and there is lots of sporting equipment to borrow (including for the outdoor putting green). The best part is that, having been there for several years as seasons, I'll comfortable sending my two girls off together to roam the park. Bill and Brenda are very conscientious campground owners, and make everything run smoothly and safely. And the canoeing is the BEST! read more

WORST CAMPSITE EVER! Do not believe anything on their webpage. Nothing is as it appears. We rented a cabin that was pretty typical. Nothing special. But we were pretty surprised at the fact that there was not a grill. Never have I gone to any campsite where a grill was not located outside the cabin. We spent a lot of money on several bags of charcoal, lighter fluid etc. They had in indoor oven, but that kind of defeats the all over feel of "camping." We decided to use the oven rack over the fire pit as we saw others were doing. Because we did this, we were denied our security deposit, because apparently they now have to replace the oven rack (that was not damaged at all!!) My guess is they see people doing this when they ride around in their golf carts, and mark people down who are using it, rather than telling them not to do so. And since when does an oven rack that can reach temps up to 450 degrees get destroyed from being in heat? They are pretty money hungry if you ask me. Their website also shows pictures of a big pool to relax at. However, the pool was the size of something I'd blow up for me kids. There was also not any chairs availible for laying out. The lake to go "fishing in" was worthless. There are not many availible spots to actually fish unless you have a camper set up somewhere. When you do find a spot you have to be careful not to reel in a canoer because the lake is so small. I now understand why their camp store does not offer bate. The overall attitudes of the owners was deplorable. When asking why we were not getting our deposit back she was rude and short declaring the oven was ruined and not even 50 dollars would fix it. When told she should inform potential campers that a grill is not provided, she excused this with "well, we say we have a fire pit on the website." Though after thumbing through other campsites I've gone to, they do not volenteer that they provide grills because its just commen sense that you would get one. Bascially I will never camp here again, and if you'd like a more enjoyable, family friendly camp ground, go to Jellystone Parks. They are kinder, offer more to do, PROVIDE GRILLS, and after camping there for 15 years they have never taken my security deposit. read more
