They are conveniently located in Downtown Seattle and apparently most of the positions they offer are in that area. The employees I've encountered are friendly and last year I got a position through them that ended up lasting from November to the end of March. It seems the assignments they get vary from something that lasts several days to ones that last months. MBT is a 21st Century capitalist dumpster fire for the working class! Beware of this agency! After registering with MBT in 2021, [I was never offered work] out of nowhere, I was called for a call center position that was advertised as a fully remote FT temporary position. When I asked about the equipment set up, I was told it was a laptop, cell phone and monitor. When I went to pick up the equipment, it was twice as much as I expected and even worse; MBT and the client did not disclose that the equipment was not WIFI compatible! I was expected to hardwire into my router, or I could not work remotely. At no point during the initial job "pitch" from MBT, [or interview with the client], did anyone from MBT disclose the truth about having to physically hardwire into a router. It was only after I accepted the position that I found out the hardwire was required. This business should be closed immediately. It is unprofessional for any "owner" or recruiter to "bait and switch" candidates. The unethical and exploitative choice to purposely lie about the position was made at my expense and when I proved what I had been told through multiple emails, there was no accountability from anyone at MBT. Abusive business practices like MBT's directly harm working class people. When unethical employers like MBT waste the skills, experience, time, energy, money, and resources of the working class, they are taking legitimate job opportunities from the workers who need and deserve it the most. The working class depends on legitimate job opportunities to survive capitalism. Recruiters and "owners" who choose to lie about the conditions of employment, directly harm working class people and the choice to exploit workers during the fourth year of the pandemic is abusive , period. This business is corrupt, and, in my situation, the "owner" [one of three] allowed another "owner/recruiter" who caused this situation, to circumvent ALL accountability of having not disclosed that the position required a hardware set up. I've done contract gigs (some through recruiters, some through temp agencies) for the past 4 years, and Molly Brown is the best agency I've ever worked with! I first applied with them in 2006 or 2007--and when I reapplied in 2017, I was surprised that they not only remembered me, but still had my old information from that long ago! They will listen to you when you tell them what you're looking for; will respect your preferences, including any deal-breakers or strong dislikes you may have; will follow through on interviews and checking back with you on roles that could be a good fit; and will take no for an answer if, for whatever reason, you can't take an assignment. They are also very quick to set up direct deposit, and responsive to any questions or concerns you may have while on an assignment. There have been a couple of times where I did have a question or concern--and Carrie or Emma responded either the same day or the next day. They really care about putting the right person into the right job. I got a call about a potential temp-to-hire opportunity and asked some questions about a couple of deal-breakers I had. It turned out that that particular job wasn't a fit (because of said deal-breakers), but Carrie was glad I'd asked the questions and totally cool with my having to pass on the opportunity. Carrie also completely understood when I turned down an interview for another assignment because the one I'd just accepted with another agency had higher hourly pay and a walking-distance commute--and agreed to check back with me in a month or two to see whether I was available again. She did--and I've been really happy with the quality of the assignments I've had through Molly Brown: the pay, the commute, the work environments and people I've worked with. I will be forever grateful to Molly Brown. They honestly changed my life! I quit my previous career of 7+ years, thinking it would be a piece of cake to find work afterwards. I was completely wrong, and spent months searching and searching for my new career to no avail. I recently got a 4-month temp job through Molly Brown. I was a good employee, so the company I was working for wanted to hire me permanently after 2 months. What Molly Brown doesn't tell you is that they set up a contract with your employer, which obligates you to work a certain number of hours through Molly Brown before they allow your employer to hire you permanently. A reputable temp company would normally charge a fee to the employer to hire one of their temps, rather than placing that cost onto the employee through lower pay and delay in benefits. I had to work 2 more months as a temp, with Molly Brown getting a cut from every hour I worked, before this company would hire me. When I called Molly Brown to complain about this secret contract they had with my employer, they said I shouldn't complain because a lot of people were out of work and I should count myself lucky that I have a job at all. And when I said that it sounded fishy that there's a contract out there that spells out my working conditions that I'm not privy to, they said if I didn't like it I could quit. Here's the icing on the cake: I am hired at this company now. It's a union job and my union contract states that my employer isn't allowed to have temp employees for longer than 90 days. I'm going to have to file a grievance with my union, and Molly Brown is probably going to lose my employer as a client because of this. Talk about self-destructive business practices! read more

I wasn't pleased. Not only did it take them three days to respond to my inquiry (which is a LOT of time for someone who's unemployed), but the response I got was disheartening. I was informed of my "lack" of experience (despite being a master's degree candidate who's worked in several offices), and then told how arduous the process is because it takes THREE WHOLE HOURS to go through. (Yes, because three hours is just so much time when you're looking for a job... eye roll). It was clear to me that I was being discouraged from working with them, which is disappointing. I'm sort of amazed. I'm with several other temp agencies. I did all the evaluations and tests which took me about three hours and they told me based on my scores they couldn't place me. The recruiter than told me that I lacked experience, and criticized my resume. She even mentioned in my interview that it was good that I was with these other agencies. Molly Brown is an amazing temp agency with a very dedicated staff, I highly recommend them. I was laid off in Jan. 2012 from my job of 5 years and started my own job hunt for the next several months. Initially, I was resistant to joining a temp agency, but even with my qualifications and experience, the job market is still pretty bad and very competitive. One of my friends from college, who started her job search 6 months after me had joined MB and was already getting sent out for assignments. She even got a temp-to-hire gig at FHCRC and SCCA. She said the staff was great and the pay was reasonable, so I decided to check them out. The evaluation and interview process is 3 hours because it covers a series of computer, computational, logic and reasoning tests: -Typing and 10 key speed -Computer skills test for MS Word, Excel and Outlook. -Sight checking for errors in numbers -Logic and reasoning These tests take a while, but some people finish them really fast. I remember the applicant next to me took half the time, but maybe she skipped some questions. After the skill assessment, one of the agents reviews your results and resume with you, inquiring about the areas of administrative work that you are interested in, or the industries you want to break into. They are very courteous, down to earth and REAL. My typing was decent, but my computer skills were excellent, especially Excel. A couple weeks after joining, I received my first assignment. It was data entry and paid more than unemployment. It was supposed to be a 2-3 day job, but the company kept me for the whole month. I had a smaller assignment after that. They informed me about a temp-to-hire position to was similar to type of job I was looking for. Unfortunately, I had vacation plans (and airline tickets purchased) for the week of the interviews. They negotiated with the client on both my initial and FOLLOW-UP interview to schedule around my vacation. My agent called me after the 2nd interview to find out how it went, because she was anxious to get an answer. I got the job. I've been working on contract for almost 3 months now. Due to the hiring policies, I am not eligible to be hired as a permanent yet, but my team treats me like a permanent. I referred a couple other friends to MB, but they didn't do as well. They could type faster than me, but they didn't have much skill in MS Office Suite, especially Excel. I use these programs all the time at my job, and have used Excel at every assignment I worked. The skills test is FREE by the way, and you are welcome to retest whenever you want. Also, you are encouraged to join other temp agencies, and you can transfer your test results to them-- you won't have to retake it again. This is an agency ran by real people who really care, not robots or corporate thieves looking to steal your money and waste your time. They can only meet you halfway though, and only reputable agencies will test your skills before sending you to their clients. But hey, don't just take my word for it, call them and ask lots of questions. The receptionist in Seattle and Bellevue are both very nice and helpful. read more

I was invited to test and apply with Molly Brown within a few days of submitting my resume. The application in testing process took about 2 and 1/2 hours and the staff were great. I was immediately given the opportunity to talk with a staffing specialist and review my test scores. Staff were super and really seem to "get me" and my experience and where I might fit best. I told her I had a previous obligation of taking my mother to the dr, so she told me good luck and ended trying to help me find a job. I've worked with several temp agencies over the years, and Molly Brown has been one of the best. I've only actually had two positions, through them, but both were temp to hire positions, where they set me up on the interview. Both times, I got the job. One thing to keep in mind with all temp agencies is that they like people who are persistent. If you send in a resume and just wait for a call back, expect not to get one. Wait a day or two to give them a chance to go over it, and give them a call and schedule an appointment to come in. They'll want to interview you, and conduct a typing and skills assessment. If you have any skills or special interests, be sure to tell them. My first job, I mentioned my vintage car hobby, and they said "Oh, we have a tool company that is looking for someone!" It was initially just a sales assistant job, but I was hired permanently, and quickly moved into a product development position. When that company went under and I was laid off, I was at the top of the pile, having been a successful placement in the past, and coming with good reviews from the previous client. I was unemployed for less than 6 weeks at the height of the 2008 recession, and I'm still with the company that they placed me with. If you're courteous but persistent and have a resume that shows off your skills, they'll find the best match they can. read more

Molly Brown is the best. The placement coordinators are not only fantastic at what they do and have loads of experience, they are also wonderful, helpful people and so easy to talk to. You don't get the feeling that this is just "a job" for them, but that they are truly energized by matching candidates with clients for the best fit. Of course placement may not happen instantly, they could be having a slow week or two. But in the end, the Molly Brown positions have been worth waiting for. Their clients are good to work for, and their payscale certainly seems better than most. Even if I forget to check in from week to week, I felt that they never forgot about me, but rather kept contacting me with jobs they felt I'd be a good candidate for. I can say nothing bad about Molly Brown, and in any of my temp-to-hire or strictly temporary positions. Learned the job and performed extremely well on that job and the company offered me full time. Had to pay MB's fee to get me and I worked my ass off at this company. I took and passed the mandatory drug test so was really shocked at how my boss, HR, coworkers and Molly Brown - keep this lie going. Don't go there unless you're young and/or what they think is pretty. They'll let you know in very subtle, roundabout way you don't have the look they want. Then, no matter how impressive your background and skills they'll try to make you think you're not up to their high skill standards and aren't a competitive candidate. That's bull. And they'll do this no matter how well or professionally you're dressed or behave. It's an agency with an approach to employment stuck in the last century. Think about the secretaries on Mad Men.
