After dinner, we can go to the drag strip and watch the show since we are already here.' The place was pretty packed, so I, of course, expected a wait. But we were seated pretty fast after standing in the middle of the doorway looking confused, being that it was our first time there, and we didn't know if we had to seat ourselves or not. But finally, a waitress realized we were standing there and seated us and then didn't come back! The owner ended up coming over and stated she was helping since it was very busy and asked if we had gotten our drink orders taken, at which point we had not. So she took them herself, which I thought was really considerate since her staff was busy. The drinks took a little while, but once again, it was busy, so l didn't mind too much. She came back and took our order after getting drinks, and we put an appetizer and entrees in all at once, and she said she would put the app in first and wait a few minutes in between so we wouldn't get it all at once. Fifteen minutes later, after getting our order taken, the actual server showed up, and we had made the comment about how we were good and the owner was fabulous. She agreed and walked off, coming back 30 minutes later to ask what we had ordered and verify my husband's steak temperature, which I thought was strange, seeing as we had ordered so long ago and the food hadn't even been started, but I digress. A total of an hour and 10 minutes before getting our appetizer, at which point I asked the waitress if our food had even been started and if it hadn't, please cancel it because I was tired of sitting there. Well, low and behold, my crab claws came out as soon as she went back there, so she immediately returned with my food, and it was hot to the touch, which I really appreciated. I ate my appetizer and waited a couple of minutes for it to cool and my husband's food to come out since he also hadn't received his food. So, at this point, the food is fantastic. My husband's looks great once it came out, and the owner once again came by to ask how it was right before I tried the crab claws, which was a mistake, apparently. Me, being from the seafood capital of the world, I know my seafood very well. I just had crab claws last night, which were fantastic, from The Lighthouse Restaurant in Bayou La Batre, and the crab claws I received here were not comparable. They were very tough and did not want to separate from the claw and reeked of ammonia. So I sent it back in disgust, in which it ended up back at my table, being told two other people had tried it, and I was the issue. The owner asked my husband if he had tried it, and he did, and he also agreed they were not good, but she continued to badger about how they are sourced from the same place Murder Point Oysters gets theirs and Kravers, etc., etc., and she would show me the paperwork, which I turned down. I wasn't in the mood for a fight, so I paid for the meal and got up and left. No drink during my meal or anything. Moral of the story I do not recommend the crab claws. The food is consistently good. The burgers are legit, the sausage dogs hit the spot, but the real winner (in my opinion) is the chicken sandwich.
