Festive enough: a Coca Cola semi was parked out front all decorated & lit for Christmas season. inside Santa was available to pose for pictures and a string quintet from WCF symphony was playing in food court. Great ambiance and it's all downhill from here on. Friends were sitting at restaurant bar with an inch deep moat of water under their stools, it was coming from restroom and no one had come to do anything about it. I'm guessing restrooms are 40 feet down a long hall from dining room and goes by a door to kitchen somewhere back there because a chef kept delivering food from that hall and through pool of water. There was no bartender on duty. we had to summon anyone to get us drinks. A grumpy deli manager finally showed up and delivered our beverages. Then a kid arrived with a stack of towels to mop up water. I asked if he couldn't use a mop, but said he didn't think they had one, oh well. The deli manager went back to his food prep counter and offered no suggestions, help or encouragement to young man cleaning up mess. We never got a smile, greeting or asked about more drinks. Kids were banging their silverware on dining table in middle of room & as our party broke up, my husband & I decided to move out to selfserve deli tables, get a meal from food court & sat to enjoy music. There were a lot of dirty tables and being near front doors it was cold and drafty. Something should be done to enclose east side of deli dining room! Our food was okay, fried chicken dinners. I needed groceries from cheese island so proceeded to shop the store. I noticed produce area floor needed to be swept and mopped as I walked through. This is not where I do my regular grocery shop, only for gourmet items. I had a long list, my back was aching from time on bar stool so kept plugging through. First stop - cheese island at 7:15 PM & staff was cleaning slicer & covering the food in display cases. I have no idea what times specialty shops close, but this was ridiculous. They didn't want to but they relented, put slicer back into service and cut ham & cheese to my request. Next stop was meat counter & they didn't have any fresh chicken breast with skin & bones intact. Staff had to go looking for it in self-serve case. Meat staff wasn't certain where to find a couple more items on my list, so I asked to have help meet me. I waited about 5 minutes, no one came so I set out to try looking for big tortillas, dried fruit & jam. The meat staff came out to ask if anyone had ever arrived & so he found a couple young kids who knew exactly which aisles i should check, they were correct. By now I had been all over half of store, was really in pain, so I called it a night and headed to check out. I'll go to my little grocery another time for rest of the list. As it was, 2 paper grocery sacks cost me $54.00 each! The store seems to have plenty of staff around in various areas, but to me it appears that no one is working very hard, rather they are working hard to look like they are working. Somewhere it gets lost in translation that staff are loafing off. From what I observed this evening it seems none of young folks were ever trained to WORK, they seem not to know what they should be doing and the managers are sick of babysitting. The only saving Grace was that symphony group were finished performing at 8:00PM as I headed to my vehicle. I'll add one star to my review because that was really enjoyable.

Atmosphere- very busy in design, but actually not overdone for a quick stop in or small group of 5-10 people. I stopped in on a random Saturday about 6pm by myself. There were many occupying the outdoor space so it was easy to get in and go. Prolly seats 60-80 at FULL capacity but 20 occupied was nice. There's so much to take you in to look at design wise. They did a good job setting it up. Food- what you came for. I'd say for a random stop, this place was 5 star. I ordered the big sexy burger and didn't do a combo so I could check out the plain sides of meats. It's awesome that they offer a simple ala carte for all their meats but was a little pricey. (Worth it- good portion). The burger had a good smoky flavor and the brisket added to it. It's a great option. In regards to the meats I ordered the burnt ends and the pork. Usually I find places like this don't even offer Burnt ends at the end of the day because they do limited amounts. They said no problem and always have some ready which was good. However I was surprised to find them already sauced (why?). I thought it seemed a bit tough and very broken down with bits of hard in it. Not hard bits of bark, but like "we always have it available and stir it up to keep it fresh" hard with stringy meat mixed in. It was a bit chewy in places and there was huge unrendered fat pieces as well. But I will say there was good flavor there and it wasnt dry (2-3 stars) Now the pork......this was the best thing there. It was seasoned right, has good texture and was moist with great flavor. Unsauced and you can see the smoke ring and has bits of bark too. Seasoning is flavorful (more savory and not pepper or spicy). The pork gets 5 stars. Also of note was the corn bread which was pretty good too . I hate super dry cornbread and this was not. Overall the food was above average to great. Can't say it will consistently be that way and the burnt ends need work but everything else was borderline exceptional enough to win me over. Service- probably the most lacking issue. The high school kid that brought up my order didn't care to even look at me and called my number and looked at his phone. Not that simple "order up" is hard but that's just the overall vibe from everyone. The spunky order taker was clearly the bubbly personality and was nice but she glanced me over when asking questions. It was clear that I told them I was just passing thru, loved to experience new Q and asked for a recommendation. She was helpful and said her favorite was the turkey but didn't really want to engage more. And the restroom had not been cleaning for a bit. See the pic for the reference . I'd honestly say it's a great place despite all my negativity. Owners clearly put in the right efforts to set it up and the food is mostly great. I'd recommend maybe they need a little help with the brisket and maybe a jolt of motivation to find good workers to keep the service up but if they could do that, this place has potential to be top 5 of all the places I've been with BBQ. The BEC Sandy had plenty of egg on it and was tasty. Portions were decent but not huge. The restaurant is long and narrow so it doesn't have a lot of out of the way places. It was also brightly lit. Coffee was good and they had a good selection of premium coffee drinks as well. Service was friendly and our server checked in on us appropriately and filled coffee as needed.
