First time in Cedar Falls (gorgeous town) and first time at Montage (I'd return). The service was above and beyond; they were knowledge of their menu and provided great recommendations and service, of course. The Beef Tenderloin Filet was unlike any other steak I've eaten before. The apps were all great too (goat cheese, beef patties, crab cakes, Philly cheese flatbread, shrimp cocktail). I had one Old Fashioned and it was perfect, sweet and savory! Steaks were RAW- ordered M.R. Both cold and RAW in the middle. Was asked by the waitress if he wanted the steak put back on the grill at the end of the dinner when we were all finished. Sides are ridiculously small in size. One side per entree. Skip this place, it is past its prime. We will sadly not be returning. read more

We ate at Montage our last night in Cedar Falls and it was worth the wait! If the weather is nice, dine outside on the rooftop. You can over look part of Main Street while the sun sets and the strings of Edison lightbulbs pop on around the tables. The service is *top notch*, and the same can be said of the cocktails, food, and desserts. The ingredients are fresh across the board, expertly prepared and elegantly plated. Hello Montage is avery nice place downtown Cedar Falls, IA. If you have not been downtown you should! All kinds of cute and trendy places, with a mix of college bars!! Montage has just about anything you want. I had a Spicy Tuna tartar for an appetizer. Yummy. And did the Pork Chop for dinner. All was very good, but just disappointed in the chops seasonings! I felt it lacked. It could be just me, as i like bold seasonings with my pork! Service was great and my vodka tonic as well. Go check it out! I will be back to try more!! This was my first time here and it will definitely not be the last. The atmosphere was quite nice with modern decorations and slightly dimmed lighting. The noise level was low and it was very easy to carry on a conversation. The food was outstanding, from the ahi tuna appetizers to the seafood main dish to the s'mores dessert, there was nothing not to like. I love this place! They have a sperate gluten free and vegan menu and really work with you when it comes to food allergies. Some of the food was a little bland due to having allergies but it just means I need to have something else on the menu because my sister's food had so much flavor. The wait staff was very attentive and had a lot of knowledge on where to direct us when it came to the food and what we could and could not have. And was willing to double check with the chef if they did not know the answer to something. I also felt like I was being rushed out the door after we said we did not need a second round of drinks. We sat up on the roof, a group of 6 of us after a long work day and had a great time here. There was a mixed reaction for the food so the rating was a mix between a 3-4 stars but the roof setting and the S'mores Ice Cream Cake helped me to settle on the 4 stars. All the food was good - especially the creme brulee (they even had a pumpkin creme brulee), though my absolute favorite was the risotto (I think it was with goat cheese), I could have eaten that all night. The decor was very elegant, the outdoor seating was actually on top of the roof, kind of balcony setting. It was absolutely gorgeous. I wasn't ecstatic about the food. The food display is amazing, but it lacked flavor. The parmesan crusted potatoes were pretty good after adding a little salt, the chicken with the potatoes were pretty tender as well. The grouper was okay but lacked flavor big time. I was really disappointed with the chocolate souffle . It tasted like semi sweet chocolate chips. It lacked that rich flavor in chocolate that you look for. Overall, I feel that the price is really towards the service and ambiance. The goat cheese bread was a great appetizer and the mushrooms were awesome. I couldn't decide what to have-had mmmm yummy bacon wrapped scallops and goat cheese spinach salad. Light but filling. Ownership has changed and the prices skyrocketed after Covid. The menu switched and some items are no longer available perhaps for proprietary reasons. The drinks were outrageously high priced, and it was jus an all around off night for my dining at what used to be a pleasant fine dining dinner spot when I get back here. I was most recently here at Christmastime and the place was nearly empty the entire evening. You may even be sticker shocked by menu prices, especially for beef. Now the Fellows who own Montage are branching out with a French patisserie across the street. I hope they recognize such a narrowly specific shop won't be well received if they price too steeply. read more

Ten years ago I lived in the area and frequently visited Montage. Often, when I returned to the area I would dine at the restaurant and enjoy my favorite dish, raspberry chipotle. I recently returned and found the restaurant was under new management and the menu no longer included my favorite dish. The ambiance was similar, the service was okay even though the server spilled the soup onto the table. The mushroom appetizer missed the mark. Baking them with cheese and a little butter left them dry and unsatisfying. The soup was warm but not hot. The zuppa was tasty though. The dishes we ordered were boarder line poor. I had the fireworks pasta with chicken and spinach fettuccine. I like very spicy food and found the dish had heat. It lacked flavor though. Another dish I tried was the blackberry salmon. The seeds from the berries were annoying and the salmon was over cooked and dry. The glasses for mixed drinks were aesthetically interesting but took time to get use to due to the offset rim. The first few times I put the glass down I felt like I was going to spill the drink due to the design. We did not order desert. For a person that fasts and enjoys one meal a day, I feel I could have been more satisfied elsewhere. Sadly, Montage has lost some luster since its peak. read more
