My wife had actually done a pickup order, and even with the vagaries of food lasting the travelling time, she couldn't speak highly enough of the drunken fish. Lots of parking. Welcoming. Distinctive decor. Prompt and unintrusive service, providing useful answers to our questions. We ordered a range of dishes and not a bad pick amongst them. Not cheap but worth it. It's all great but, weirdly perhaps, my bite of the night was the 'KFC' buns. That certainly put the fusion into Asian fusion. Highly recommended. We'll be back.

Of course it has to establish a good footing in the restaurant scene in this area. Give it time . Anyway, about our experience. We're not usually into the Asian Fusion cuisine, but then fusion dining overall we seldom if ever venture to. Part reason is the cost is high and i dislike eating a meal where the food only takes up half the plate. Makes me feel a bit like i am not getting my moneys worth. But in saying that the food was delicious! Our order consisted of the Market fish of the day yellow curry  (the fish being monkfish) with rotti , scallop salad & crispy eggplant washed down with a Brothers brewery lager. The order came out pretty quickly too. And like i said disregarding the portion size etc it was very delicious!. Top marks to the chef. About the service , it was top notch too from entry to exit. Faultless. Of note too is the decor, i really like the paintings on the walls and ceiling and the atmosphere within too. So overall i would recommend as long as you are willing to pay a few extra dollars and despite my tendency and reasons not to eat fusion cuisine i think it does definitely deserve 5 stars.

Delicious! I needed…read moreto bring back dinner for my brother-in-law, my husband, and me, so I asked an in the know local for their recommendation on best takeout in Takapuna. They quickly responded "Tok Tok". Their most favorite mentions from the menu were the Popping Prawns, Crispy Duck, Shaking Beef, and the Fried Rice... I ordered it all ;)! I'm so glad I did. I literally salivate when thinking about the meal. Ordering over the phone was a breeze, and a friendly. I walked into the restaurant, and was quickly shown a seat at the bar where I could wait, instead of waiting at the entry. The restaurant was packed, and it was clear to see Tok Tok is a hip and cool place to be, as well as welcoming. About ten minutes early, I decided to order a Chilli Margarita from the cocktail menu. I received my cocktail promptly. I had enough time to finish the refreshing work of art, right as my order came out.

We sat outdoors in a fully covered patio that had heaters for cold rainy nights and it felt cozy. The food was excellent. We ordered beef steamed buns, fish curry, miso eggplants and shaking beef. They all tasted amazing. We did family style amongst the four of us and it was the perfect amount of food. I'll definitely come back here whenever I'm in Auckland again.

Prices aren't extravagant, but neither is the food. Walking along Birkenhead Avenue, Mulan stood out as something that would otherwise have belonged in the hip and upcoming Mt Albert scene with Chinoiserie, Kiss Kiss and L'Oeuf. Casually embellished with thick knotted ropes around the entrance and on the ceiling of the dining area, the setting is thoughtfully simple. Without calling on famous interior designers, it was enough to elevate the dining experience up a step. I came for a late long lunch with a particular craving for Thai food. Thai and Vietnamese cuisine are always high on my favourites. Maybe not so much for coriander haters (who apparently blame it on genetics for this inexcusable pickiness). As a first step to tame the insatiable hunger, we had the Mama's special of steamed buns with sticky pork. Two really weren't enough between two people! The bun was thinner than I wanted but it was bouncy and the flavours were saturated into the meat. As recommended by another foodie I ordered Golden Shield - sweet and spicy squid, flash fried with chili jam and kaffir lime. If you love strong flavours, it is a must order! The combination of sweet, spicy and sour was punchy and appetising. Along with the chicken jungle curry, we easily demolished two bowls of coconut rice with the spicy kick. If you are a spice wimp like me, I recommend staying firm on ordering "mild". As a local, I'd love to go back. It's my type of hangout: casual with tasty food. Thumbs up!

I was taken to Thai Issan on a date, and was really amazed by the beautiful decor, and the climbing Hoya plant that spiraled all around the room. Creates a sense of exoticness about the place. The food is sensational, I would recommend dining in over takeaway any day, so you get the luxury of the experience. Service was kind, and generous. My mouth waters as I try to describe the taste sensations you will experience at Issan, some favorites of mine are Pad Priew Waan Pla which you can have mild or hot, which is Gurnard fillet in a stir fry with a lovely sweet and sour sauce accompanied by pineapple, tomatoes and cucumber or Gang Dang Goong, a spicy hot tiger prawn in coconut milk, and red curry with lychee. Exquisite taste sensations, you will get hot and sweet together and these will blow you away. Be sure to enjoy some Thai beer or Bring your own wine, and toast to this Thai culinary delight.
