    Bulgogi Beef (YUM!)

I am so pleased to say that I have finally found good sushi in Vienna!!! Located in the first district on Börsegasse, sits the lovely Asian-fusion restaurant: Momoya. I first stumbled upon this place when I took a walk around Schottenring and later on decided to eat here after reading positive reviews on Yelp. So when I first walked in I was greeted with a smile (a rarity in Viennese restaurants) and shown to the exquisitely designed dining room with dark wooden tables, comfy purple chairs, soft carpet, and modern hanging lamps with dim lighting. Automatically I knew that a lot of effort was put into making this restaurant have a comfortable, relaxing and attractive environment. The server provides me with a drink menu and a eating menu. When I eat Asian food, I like to have tea with my meal, so I chose their rose tea. When I drank this tea for the first time, I was so charmed by how light and delicate it tasted, and I really dug the teapot and cup as well. Then I decided to order their Philadelphia Roll and Spicy Tuna Roll. I have had not-so-great experiences eating sushi here in Vienna, so I was hesitant yet very interested in giving Momoya's sushi a try. And when I got my sushi -- oh my god did it look great and so appetizing. I knew just by looking at it this was going to be great sushi. When I tried the spicy tuna roll (which was not spicy in my taste) it was like I back in the states eating at one of my favorite sushi restaurants, where their fish is fresh from the sea. It was great but the Philadelphia roll was my favorite: Coated in cream cheese, garnished with salmon on top, with the inside avocado. I was very satisfied with what I got. But that is not all. When I had the opportunity to come back, I wanted to try their Korean Bulgogi beef dish. This dish has roasted and marinated beef pieces tossed with green and red peppers, broccoli, peas and mushrooms with a small salad on the side. This was a savory delicious dish for me that I do not regret eating. The beef was so tender and tasted so good, I don't even have the words to describe it at the moment, so maybe in a few weeks I will be able to articulate how that experience was for me, hehe :) Anyways, I highly recommend Momoya as a restaurant to check out for some great-quality Japanese/Asian-fusion and Sushi food. The servers/workers are so incredibly nice, which is so refreshing since dealing with grumpy servers in Viennese cafes and restaurants is not so fantastic. If you plan to come here with a lot of friends or co-workers, they have dining tables with a grill in front, like a Hibachi grill, for the cook to prepare food in front of you in a more intimate and personal setting.

Very tasty Asian food. Decorated with warm colors. Friendly greeting and service. Very conveniently located near Schottenring. I would definitely recommend their Wok selection. Feels like a family operated business. Very reasonable pricing. Teppanyaki combo menus available as well. In short, a high quality Japanese/Asian restaurant...

We were looking for a sushi place in Vienna. Walked a few miles to reach this one which has good reviews and I have to say I was disappointed. The fish was not terrible, but it was nothing great either. It tasted like it had been frozen and defrosted by the chef-- not like fresh, delicious sushi that I eat at some of the restaurants in my home town. Maybe Vienna isn't the place for sushi... Or maybe I just didn't go to the right place!

Delicious food! Had some dumplings, sushi, beef, rice and vegetables. All the dishes we ordered (approximately 10) were fantastic!

The chicken thigh yakitori was OK- some little bits were blackened which gave this dry bad burned aftertaste. The eel nigiri was really delicious. However the scallop nigiri tasted off, and unpleasantly bitter. The rhubarb dessert I didn't like at all, and left the whole thing. They gave me a chocolate mousse on the house because they noticed I didn't eat the dessert, but I didn't really like the mousse either. The desserts really weren't well balanced, I'd take them off the menu entirely. The cream was overwhelmingly sweet, rhubarb mushy, and crumbles perplexing. I get what they were going for with adding texture but it didn't work. The mousse was two note, raspberry and chocolate, overwhelmingly sweet. The worst part was about 10 minutes after leaving, my stomach started to hurt terribly. It was definitely something I ate there. I had horrible stomach cramps/pains and sickness following. I won't go into the details, but I didn't have anything else to eat and this came upon pretty soon after leaving the restaurant, so I'm certain it was from something there. Maybe the scallops I thought were off? I trusted all of the great reviews.. assumed they know how to handle their shellfish. Maybe the dessert? I don't know what made me sick here, and I'll spare you the details, but I'm stuck having to stay close to the bathroom now and I am not thrilled.

This is as good as it gets for me as far as sushi goes in vienna…read more i used to live around the corner from here and i miss eating here on almost a daily basis, i discovered my love for sushi here and it is still the best sushi i've tasted so far in vienna and there are no rivals as far as quality/price is concerned. i've eaten sushi in over 50 different locations/resturants in vienna and as far as quality and craftsmanship is concerned, this is the best. not even the super high cost of akakiko rivals this. the fish is the freshest and literally melts once it hits your tongue and the rice is cooked to perfection and is not saved cold, a giant mistake when many resturants make and save sushi, your not supposed to refrigerate it, it needs to stay at room temperature or else it gets hard as a rock and tastes bad. they also have many other dishes with special dishes from different asia countries which is also amazingly good and spiced evenly and is always not fried to much and is fresh, which being from southern italy, i can only appreciate the freshest ingredients. this place delivers everything, the service is perfect and the waitress who also owns the restaurant (i think its a family business) is nice and speaks german very well but not so much english but they do have english menu's. the best part is it's cheap, if you eat the sushi in house you pay 5,20 for a 10 sake sushi with 4 maki which is an extremely low price so automatically the sushi must suck, it doesn't, if yo order it to be delivered it costs 12,20. so if your looking for a great place for great asian food and amazingly high quality sushi i suggest this place, you will thank me later. i can not write enough good things about this place, even after not eating there for 7 months (i have moved to the other side of vienna) the quality remains the same even after they added a sushi maker to already existing older gentlemen with the dark hair bowl cut who makes it still and generally still does. i can guarantee you will not find food this good / fresh / cheap anywhere else in vienna. try it and let me know.

We had SUCH a lovely experience here and we were so lucky to have snagged a table!…read more My friend and I had been shopping all day and were ready to take a break and get some dinner. We walked in and were told we could stay downstairs and eat, or go upstairs and try that restaurant- which was more sushi based and Asian infusion. We decided to go upstairs as the food sounded delicious and the views of the cathedral were amazing. We were seated quickly and ordered spritz's and wine. The menu all sounded amazing, but my friend and I both decided to get the build you own stir fry with chicken. The food was delicious and fresh, and it was definitely nice to eat after eating a lot of bread and cheese throughout our trip :) The server was wonderful and so helpful. We were so happy to end our day here on such a great note!

No Watered down, hotel pan-Asian fusion restaurant with a partial view of the cathedral. Shockingly included in the Michelin guide, despite the many, many red flags of being a hotel pan-Asian fusion restaurant in Vienna. Service is relatively slow, so allocate ample time. Standouts (positive and negative): Pea and Mint soup (4/5): Tasty and came with a small, cheesy gougere-y bonus. Baby spinach salad with caramelized eggplant (0/5): Aggressively dressed (WET) spinach with a few small chunks of eggplant scattered throughout. After some attempt to scrape the immensely salty miso dressing off each leaf, we gave up and pushed aside the 21€ salad.
