We had a rather hard time finding a restaurant open for dinner on a Sunday night and ended up at Ra'mien - so glad that we did. First, the interior is very nice - casual, sleek and modern. The menu is fairly simple - mostly noodle dishes. They've also got many different types of gyoza, but apparently those are only available during certain times? Sunday nights not being one of those times, we started with samosas which were crisp and tasty. We both ordered simple chicken ramen which comes with hand cut noodles (delicious) and a generous portion of chicken breast in a simple broth. They provide chives and cilantro as well as a fiery chili paste if you want to spice up your dish. The portion was large for the price, and beer/wine was fairly priced as well. In the evening, the kitchen and seemingly the restaurant itself transform into something else, as the menu offers more exotic variations. Thai, Vietnamese, Chinese Specialties are served beautifully arranged and are guaranteed to give you an experience for the evening. The only constant throughout lunchtime and evening are the noodlesoups called La'mien and Pho. Behind a counter, noodles are freshly cut into cooking water and are then served with fresh soup and optional coconut curry. Delicious. Later that evening the club downstairs is opened. While the restaurant on ground level has a simplified white interior with red accents, the bar downstairs is flooded with red and dark colors with many objects which catch the view. Live DJs put on different music, while cocktails are mixed behind a bar. A totally different world. In conclusion: As Ramien offers a very wide fanned experience, one visit might not be enough for one to find his perfect dish, day time ambiente, bar evening etc. But the only tip I can give is to try out different things as Ramien with its multicultural cuisine and personality has definitely something for you to get addicted on. I usually get the curry chicken mien, and my favorite part is how the noodles continue cooking and get bigger and bigger as you scarf it all down. A couple of nights ago, a friend dropped by my place and we decided to use Foodora and do delivery from Ra'mien. Ra'mien is simply one of the top Asian restaurants in Vienna. Their use of fresh ingredients, creative mixing of spices, and diverse offerings make for an always interesting dining experience. My friend swears by their Pad Thai and I am very partial to their chicken in a coconut red curry rice. A tasty salad comes with these dishes. And to begin the feast we shared an app of delicious Gyoza with cheese. From placing the order with Foodora to the hot meal arrival at my apartment took less than 30 minutes. I am honestly surprised by how good of a place this is, despite it being a fast food asian restaurant. Their bibimbap is awesome, really authentic like (in my personal American taste) and provide a spicy sauce on the side. I really enjoy their Pho noodle soup, it is filling and made with fresh ingredients. Ra'Mien also have dumping, and I got to try their mix set which was also very tasty with the sauce they provided! A very new experience for me eating out and this part of Vienna, as I do not know this part of Vienna well. But as i was with some Elite Yelper and they recommended this place, i could not go wrong. Well i can confirm the quality of this place as being great. The food i had was yummier than yummy, which normally does not happen outside of Australia as this is an Australian expression. This should be on everyone list of places to eat at, then if you need more reasons to go, I am told they have a kick ass disco downstairs that rocks your socks off. Ramien has a wonderful lively, friendly atmostphere complemented by generous smells wafting through the room and teasing your curious nostrils once you are able to get through the doors (this is a tricky one I must say, as it does get busy! Reservations are a smart idea!) There is no secret as to why the wait time can be anywhere from 10-40 minutes on a busy night, but it is certainly worth it. The extremely curteous and friendly servers make for a no trouble experience, with smiles on their faces and determination to get their attention promptly to every customer, leaving no customer behind. At Ramien I had a delicious, perfectly prepared Tom Yam Gung with samosas, and a daily special soup with duck and flying noodles. (HINT: To play with not only your sense of smell,but sight as well, feast your hungry eyes on this: the sight of the chef expertly chopping up and sliding, more like flying noodles into a simmering pot. How to achieve this? I encourage you to try and get a spot nearby the chef towards the back if possible. Then you're really in the for total experience.) I could not get enough of the tangy sauce that came with the samosas. I was very tempted to see what kind of sorcery this was. The soups were a generous portion size, making it even possible to share with another fellow Asian cuisine lover. The price to portion/taste/experience ratio was one that you can't beat! No wonder why the place was filled with what seemed to be the familiar excited buzz of the locals. They know just where to go that has the whole great restaurant package in one, no factor left behind. I plan on going back whenever my Asian food cravings strike again and I can hardly wait. I saw a lot of pretty big groups here, and it looked like a place where people eat leisurely meals. I've only been here once and tried one dish: the lo'mein with chicken. The portions are fairly large and even though you end up very full you don't fell bloated as all the ingredients are fresh and healthy and light. The Japanese food is really really good, the staff is young, friendly and efficient, the cook is amazing - even just to watch! He prepares the noodles of the Ra'mien himself, cutting the noodles skilfully out of a raw ball of home-made dough into the bouling soup where the pasta will cook. Yammi! If you don't feel like having a soup (you don't know what you are missing!), you can also have one of their delicious wok or dumplings. I have been here twice in two days! Yesterday we came for lunch at 1130 and unfortunately they don't serve their soups until noon. We didn't want to wait so we just ordered rice bowls. I had the bulgogi beef, which was good, but I really wanted the noodles. My husband had the mapo tofu with vegetables and LOVED it. The flavors in the mapo tofu taste more Thai than Chinese. Today, we came at 230 pm and just made the 3pm cutoff for noodles. I had the chicken curry and the noodles were worth coming back again. this is one of my favourite places to eat whenever I am in Vienna. All kinds of asian influences lead to this oustanding restaurant. They serve food until very late at night which makes this place perfect even if you are late for eating. At lunch time they serve asian soups and all kinds of self-made noodles. You get a small salad with it and the dressing is gorgeous! In the evening the have an outstanding menue. I can highly recommend anything with raw tuna and the beef with thai basil. The staff is very friendly and very helpful and the atmosphere is very cosmopolitan. My sister was in town for a couple of weeks over her Christmas break--she lives in Madrid, where there is apparently no good Asian food to be found. We've been finding that there's surprisingly more here in Vienna than initially expected. We came to ra'mien at around 7:30 or 8 on a Sunday night, and it was packed. We had to wait a few minutes for a table, but we spent that time putting our coats on the rack and looking over the menu. I got really excited about the prospect of having pho, which I have all the time back home in socal, and my sister ordered the curry chicken noodles. We also got a green papaya salad and a couple of drinks. My sister's food was great--she thought the noodles were kind of strange, but they were tasty. The pho, on the other hand, was definitely not what I expected--I'm used to Little Saigon (in Westminster, CA or periphery) pho served by Vietnamese immigrants, but this was...certainly not that. It came with soy sauce (what?!) and, when I asked for sriracha, I got some kind of sweet-spicy chili sauce and some sort of chili powder (the latter of which packed quite a punch; I used that and ignored the former). Don't get me wrong--it was really good. Once I got over my expectations of ECHT PHO, I was happy with my meal. (Though, in hindsight, I probably wouldn't order it again, since I'll just be sighing about REAL PHO the whole time.) My dish didn't have the hand-cut noodles, since pho is traditionally made with rice noodles, but I tried some of my sister's and it was quite good. Other thoughts: - The drinks were pretty reasonably priced. I had a half-liter of the Himbeerbrause, which is a raspberry soda, and it was delicious. - The green papaya salad was also quite good. It seems like the Thai-type items are probably your best bet, in general. - It's a little like a cafeteria, sure, but really only in the seating arrangements. But aren't super-close tables pretty common here anyway? Otherwise, the atmosphere is really nice, sort of a "casual upscale" kind of thing. - Servers are pretty young and speak English--I tried to speak German but ended up reverting to English eventually, especially after the servers realized that my sister didn't speak any German. - It's pretty close to the Museumsquartier U-Bahn stop (Mariahilfer exit), which means it's pretty centrally located, all things considered. So, in closing--don't expect traditional Asian food, but just tasty food with sizeable portions at a low price, ESPECIALLY for this area. read more

So this is a review for the downstairs when its a dance floor on the weekend, and not for the restaurant upstairs, and only for one time I have been there. Bartender won my heart. He offered me a free shot to match the one I just ordered when he heard I was there celebrating my birthday (it was the day before). I had not ordered a single drink before (just arrived), so that was really cool. He actually smiled and we had a nice "hello hello" conversation. I was not aware at the time that a smiling bartender is very unusual in Vienna. So basically you have a rectangular shaped room, one side the bar with bar stools along it, the other side some very low couches, and in between are some pillar and people dance around. If you come later in the night, you will probably not find a place to sit. You also do feel like all eyes are on you if you dance before the crowd settles in (after midnight), so be prepared. People are social, which is also unusual for Vienna, you can easily talk to people and they are smiling generally. Some drunk people but ok, nothing serious. Was not a huge fan of the music. Could have been that DJ that one night. Also the room is pretty dark and if you want to talk to friends, sitting on the couches its not obvious than more to the person next to you (in front of you its hard too). Conclusion: Good place to hang out with friends and just chilax. Not super fancy, still pretty small (I guess average on the small side for Vienna), the drinks are not pricey (I think under 6 Euros). So its ok. I would not get overly dressed up though, not that most people do in Vienna for clubs in any case... Cheers! And be nice to the bartender because he's friendly... wish I remembered his name to recommend him to you but I would go back just to have him as my bartender now that I know better about drinking in Vienna. read more
